Recall history
3 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.
01V147000 · Power Train:Clutch Assembly
Reported: 2001-05-01 (May 1, 2001)
VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: MOTORCYCLES. THE BACKLASH SPLIT GEAR IN THE PRIMARY DRIVE TRAIN COULD FAIL, CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE CLUTCH AND ADJACENT COMPONENTS.
Consequence: IF A FAILURE OCCURS, METAL DEBRIS COULD BE SCATTERED THROUGHOUT THE PRIMARY DRIVE TRAIN, CAUSING A LOSS OF POWER TO THE REAR WHEEL.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE BACKLASH SPLIT GEAR. OWNER NOTIFICATION IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN DURING MAY 2001. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT VICTORY AT 1-763-542-0500.
NHTSA campaign record ↗01V148000 · Service Brakes, Hydraulic
Reported: 2001-05-01 (May 1, 2001)
VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: MOTORCYCLES. THREADED FASTENERS USED TO ATTACH THE BRAKE ROTORS TO THE FRONT AND REAR WHEEL ASSEMBLIES COULD FAIL DUE TO HYDROGEN EMBRITTLEMENT. THE FAILURE COULD OCCUR UNDER THE HEAD OF THE FASTENER IF A CRACK DEVELOPS, CAUSING A LOSS OF CLAMP LOAD AND POSSIBLE SEPARATION OF THE HEAD FROM THE THREADED BODY OF THE FASTENERS.
Consequence: A FASTENER FAILURE WILL REDUCE THE STRENGTH OF THE BOLT ASSEMBLY AND COULD AFFECT THE BRAKING CHARACTERISTICS OF THE VEHICLE.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE ROTOR BOLTS.
NHTSA campaign record ↗03V336000 · Structure:Motorcycle:Kickstand/Center Stand
Reported: 2003-09-12 (September 12, 2003)
ON CERTAIN MOTORCYCLES, THE SIDESTAND SPRING AND/OR THE PIN USED TO ATTACH THE SPRING TO THE FRAME MAY BE DAMAGED.
Consequence: THIS COULD ALLOW UNINTENDED DEPLOYMENT OF THE SIDESTAND, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT AND REPLACE THE SIDESTAND SPRING AND FRAME RAIL BRACKET. AN INTERIM NOTICE TO OWNERS WAS MAILED ON NOVEMBER 11, 2003. THE RECALL BEGAN ON AUGUST 18, 2004. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT VICTORY AT 1-763-417-8650.

Problems by model year
Model-wide comparison of the eight most reported components across the model. Cells show counts and shares within each model year. Open a cell for source examples.
| Component | 1999 | 2001 |
|---|---|---|
| Power Train:Manual Transmission | 2100.0%ODI 10064617WHILE SHIFTING GEARS, THE VEHICLE WAS KICKED OUT OF GEAR AND STALLED. THE CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION, AND THE MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *AK WHEN IT KICKS OUT OF GEAR BACK TO THE LOWER GEAR, IT WOULD SLIDE TO THE REAR WHEEL. ON WET ROADS, THIS WAS EXTREMELY HARD TO CONTROL. WHEN SHIFTING THE GEARS, IT WOULD POP FROM 3RD BACK TO 2ND GEAR, WHICH WOULD SKID THE REAR TIRES. Darker cells indicate a larger share of submitted complaints. Components overlap. This measures complaint composition, not failure probability.

Emerging complaint spikes
Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.
This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.
No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.
Equal-age model-year comparison
Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.
1999: 0 complaints · 2001: 0 complaints
| Model year | Through age 0 | Through age 1 | Through age 2 |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1999 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
| 2001 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
Date coverage across each selected cohort
| Year | Incident dates used | Filing date fallbacks | Excluded dates |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1999 | 1 | 1 | 0 |
| 2001 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.
Components reported together
Each cell counts unique complaints naming both components. Open a nonzero cell for examples.

Co-reporting does not establish that one component caused another concern.
Recurring narrative patterns
