Recall history

4 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.

05V182000 · Wheels

Reported: 2005-04-22 (April 22, 2005)

ON CERTAIN HEAVY DUTY CLASS 8 TRUCKS EQUIPPED WITH ACCURIDE ALUMINUM WHEELS, THE WHEELS WERE NOT PROPERLY PRE-STRESSED. THIS ALLOWS CRACKS TO DEVELOP OVER TIME.

Consequence: THIS MAY EVENTUALLY LEAD TO WHEEL FAILURE AND POSSIBLY RESULT IN A VEHICLE CRASH.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE WHEELS FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON JUNE 30, 2005 OWNERS MAY CONTACT VOLVO TRUCKS AT 1-800-528-6586.

NHTSA campaign record ↗
05V457000 · Power Train:Axle Assembly

Reported: 2005-10-04 (October 4, 2005)

ON CERTAIN TRUCKS EQUIPPED WITH ARVINMERITOR SERIES 145 AND 160 REAR DRIVE AXLES. SOME OF THE SPINDLES WERE OVERHEATED DURING THE HEAT TREAT PROCESS WHICH COULD RESULT IN A FRACTURE OF THE SPINDLE.

Consequence: IF A SPINDLE FRACTURES WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION, IT MAY CAUSE WHEEL SEPARATION, WHICH COULD, WITHOUT WARNING RESULT IN A VEHICLE CRASH.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE SPINDLE FOR SUSPECT HEAT CODES AND REPLACE THE AXLE IF NECESSARY. THE RECALL BEGAN ON DECEMBER 12, 2005. OWNERS MAY CONTACT VOVLO TRUCKS AT 1-800-528-6586.

10V571000 · Service Brakes, Air:Supply:Quick Release Valve

Reported: 2010-11-12 (November 12, 2010)

VOLVO TRUCKS IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2007 AND 2009 VHD, MODEL YEAR 2006 THROUGH 2010 VN, AND MODEL YEAR 2007 THROUGH 2009 VT TRUCKS MANUFACTURED FROM NOVEMBER 7, 2005, THROUGH OCTOBER 30, 2009, EQUIPPED WITH AN AIR RELEASE FIFTH WHEEL. THE INVERSION VALVE ON THE FRAME MAY BE ORIENTATED WHERE CONTAMINANTS CAN ENTER THE VALVE THROUGH THE EXHAUST PORT. AS A RESULT, THE BRAKE VALVE MAY CORRODE.

Consequence: CORROSION OF THE VALVE CAN CAUSE IT TO MALFUNCTION, THEREBY ADVERSELY AFFECTING BRAKING PERFORMANCE AND INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE INVERSION VALVE AND REPLACE AS REQUIRED. THIS SERVICE WILL BE PERFORMED FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN ON OR BEFORE FEBRUARY 18, 2011. OWNERS MAY CONTACT VOLVO TRUCKS AT 1-800-528-6586.

NHTSA campaign record ↗
12V510000 · Seat Belts

Reported: 2012-10-18 (October 18, 2012)

Volvo is recalling certain model year 2002-2013 VHD and VN trucks, manufactured from August 4, 2000, through June 22, 2012, and equipped with bench passenger seats. The seat belt d-ring weld may not be sufficient enough to meet the seat belt pull test. Therefore, these vehicles fail to conform to the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 210, "Seat Belt Assembly Anchorages."

Consequence: In the event of a crash, an insufficient seat belt weld may prevent the seat belt from properly restraining the occupant. This increases the risk of injury to the seat occupant.

Remedy: Volvo Trucks of America will notify owners, and dealers will replace the suspected d-ring, free of change. The safety recall began on May 10, 2013. Owners may contact Volvo at 1-336-393-2000.

Every window in this truck leaks. The upholstery is water stained around and underneath every window. This , I found out is a common problem for Volvo trucks. Volvo knows about this problem as they had a recall in 2019 for this very problem. Volvo Corp office also acknowledged a current recall for this problem. Certain trucks qualified for repair under recall according to Volvo. Certain trucks do not qualify. Why is that ?? Water leaking around and down from a window can cause structure damage, electrical fires and problems along with damage t…

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.
