15V342000 · Air Bags:Side/Window

Reported: 2015-06-03 (June 3, 2015)

Volvo Cars of N.A., LLC (Volvo) is recalling certain model year 2016 Volvo XC90 vehicles manufactured January 27, 2015, to May 19, 2015. The affected vehicles have front seats whose wiring harness for the Side Impact Protection System (SIPS) may have been routed incorrectly.

Remedy: Volvo will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the routing of the SIPS wiring, correcting the routing and installing a protective sleeve as necessary, free of charge. The recall began on June 30, 2015. Owners may contact Volvo customer service at 1-800-458-1552. Volvo's number for this recall is R89571.

Park fails to engage when pressing the P button adjacent to the shifter. It will, however, engage 100% of the time when applying additional pressure. The button doesn’t actually travel any further when applying the additional pressure, but park will engage. It’s even possible to push the button down fully, hold it for several seconds, and then apply additional pressure to cause it to engage. The tactile response of the button occurs too soon before activation.

The front rotors on my truck had to be changed twice already. The truck has 25k miles on it. The dealer warrantied them both times but they keep putting in the same kind of rotors. After a few month of driving with the new rotors the steering starts to shake when brakes are applied. The front brake pads also wear out pretty quickly. With only 25k miles they told me I needed new ones. I have invoices if needed to prove the rotors have been changed twice

During cold weather, and when backing up, the vehicle makes a loud knocking noise as if an accident has occurred. This is an intermittent problem. The vehicle is equipped with Auto-hold brakes. The dealership stated that this might be the issue where the auto-hold is engaging without warring. The dealership tested the brakes and stated that it was operating per manufacturing specs. This issue happened several times so far since 2022. It is a scary moment when feeling as if I had hit some one or some thing.

I have a 2016 XC90 T6 Inscription. The issue started after refill the engine oil and led to malfunction in engine system. The engine list the power and slowed down the car while driving. I brought the car to the dealer 2 times already and had been fine for 3 months. However, the engine oil light showed up to refill after 3 months. I am filing a safety complaint regarding a failed rear door latch actuator in my 2016 Volvo XC90. This is a known issue among Volvo owners, yet there appears to be no recall or corrective action. I own a 2016 XC90 that was regularly serviced by the Volvo dealer we bought the car from. My son and I were in my car on 08/02/2023 and we were at a stop light and something smelt a little off so my son put his window down to get fresh air. Then, we accelerated when the light turned green. Within 100 yds of accelerating my check engine light when on and simultaneously I lost acceleration. It was clear that something was wrong. I told my son we needed to unbuckle our seat belts and jump out of the car when I could get us safely stopped. We coast…

The hybrid motor periodical will hesitate when accelerating from a stop, specifically it'll start accelerating then lose power for up to a couple of seconds before regaining power. This poses a safety risk if you start pulling out into traffic and suddenly and unpredictably lose power while there's oncoming vehicles. The problem just occurred for the first time about a week ago and coincidentally just a few days after taking the car in for its annual service, since then it has happened more frequently and I can't find any rhyme or reason as t…

My XC90 had the oil consumption issue that I started reporting at 50K miles and Volvo finally performed a piston ring replacement at 80K miles under a service action. Fuel injectors were also replaced by the Dealer. On our first long distance trip from Tallahassee to Atlanta, the car lost all power and stopped on I-75, almost killing us. It had to be towed and the dealer says that the engine was flooded by fuel due to fuel pump module failure causing fuel injectors to stay activated and engine needs to be replaced. I believe that the issue was…

The issue began in April 2021, the engine burns oil and empties out every 1,500 or less. Contacted Volvo corp & dealership several times. Have gotten two things repaired by Volvo indicating those were the root issue of the oil consumption, not the case, continues to burn oil. Was told by the dealer that I have to continue to drive the vehicle until the low oil comes on for them to re-check the engine. Not sure if they want me to crack the engine while I drive for them to realize this is a serious issue.
