14V227000 · Engine And Engine Cooling:Engine

Reported: 2014-05-01 (May 1, 2014) · Model years: 2014

Polaris Industries, Inc. (Polaris) is recalling certain model year 2014 Victory Cross Country, Cross Country Eight Ball, Hammer Eight Ball, High Ball, Jackpot, Judge, Ness Cross Country, Vegas Eight Ball, Vision, Boardwalk, and 2015 Victory Gunner motorcycles manufactured January 22, 2014, through April 25, 2014. Owners may contact Polaris customer service at 1-888-704-5290. Note: Owners are advised not to ride their motorcycle until the recall remdy has been performed.

MY 2014 VICTORY CROSS COUNTRY EIGHT BALL MOTORCYCLE CONTINUOUSLY CUTS OFF. WHEN I DOWN SHIFT THE BIKE TO COME TO A STOP, THE BIKE MAKES A SPIT SOUND AND CUTS OFF. I HAVE ALSO HAD THE BIKE CUT OFF WHILE RIDING AND WHEN PULLING OFF FROM A DEAD STOP. I CALLED THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD NOT TO BLIP THE BIKE, BUT WHEN DOWNSHIFTING YOU HAVE TO GIVE THE BIKE GAS IN CASES WHERE YOU HAVE TO GET BACK UP TO SPEED. THE PROBLEM IS BEYOND IRRITATING BECAUSE OF THE POTENTIAL TO CAUSE AN ACCIDENT BY STALLING IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC WHICH IS WHAT HAPPENED TO ME …

RIGHT SADDLEBAG LATCH IS DEFECTIVE AND WEARING SEVERELY AT 5000 MILES IT HAS OPENED ALREADY AT HIGH SPEED MAKING THE BIKE AERODYNAMICALLY UNSTABLE. I'M LUCKY I DID NOT CRASH. BIKE IMMEDIATELY BEGAN HANDLING TERRIBLE. FORTUNATELY I WAS ABLE TO SLOW DOWN AND WHEN I DISCOVERED THE SADDLEBAG LID WAS OPEN CLOSED IT AND HANDLING RETURNED TO NORMAL. THESE SADDLEBAG LIDS ARE VERY LARGE AND HAVE A SHAPE LIKE RESEMBLING AN AIRPLANE WING. WHEN OPEN THEY GENERATE A LOT OF LIFT IN THE WRONG DIRECTION. WHEN IT FAILS THERE WILL BE NO MECHANISM TO KEEP …

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.
