THIS IS A VICTORY MOTORCYCLE. WHEN DOWNSHIFTING TO ARRIVE AT A LIGHT I HEARD A CLUNK IN THE TRANSMISSION AREA. SHIFTING BECAME IMPOSSIBLE WITHIN A FEW MINUTES. THE MOTORCYCLE WAS TOWED TO A VICTORY DEALER IN HARRISONBURG, VA AND 2 WEEKS LATER I WAS INFORMED THAT ONE OF THE SHIFT FORK BROKE AND FELL INTO THE TRANSMISSION AND GROUND UP 2 GEARS. ALSO INFORMED THAT THE CLUTCH WAS BURNED. ALTHOUGH THIS MOTORCYCLE IS 10 YEARS OLD, IT ONLY HAD 5330 MILES ON IT AND WAS REGULARLY SERVICED. FROM MY UNDERSTANDING SHIFT FORKS DO NOT JUST BREAK. THE CLUTCH BURNT UP BEFORE 4,000 MILES WAS DRIVEN. IT WAS IN MOTION ON THE HIGHWAY ON A 5 HOUR ROAD TRIP. I HAVE READ MANY FORUMS SINCE THEN THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED TO NUMEROUS PEOPLE WITH THIS MANUFACTURER. ALSO, THE MANUFACTURER REFUSES TO COVER IT UNDER WARRANTY.

I RODE THE BIKE 3-4 TIMES (~ 120 MI.) AFTER HAVING WORK DONE AT ON 4/29/2010. THE SECOND WEEK OF AUGUST 2011, I TURNED ON THE KEY TO START THE BIKE AND A SMALL AMOUNT OF GAS POURED FROM UNDER THE GAS TANK. I REMOVED THE TANK, CHECKED THE HOSE CONNECTION, COULD NOT SEE ANYTHING WRONG AND REPLACED THE TANK. TURNED ON THE KEY AGAIN AND AGAIN GAS POURED FROM UNDER THE TANK. THEN I REMOVED THE TANK AGAIN AND FOUND THE NIPPLE FROM THE FUEL PUMP BROKEN OFF IN THE HOSE. THE FUEL PUMP NIPPLE IS NOT VISIBLE UNLESS THE HOSE IS REMOVED. THE FUEL PUM…

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.

Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.
