6 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.

20V135000 · Service Brakes

Reported: 2020-03-06 (March 6, 2020) · Model years: 2019

Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Volkswagen) is recalling certain 2019 Arteon vehicles. The electronic brake booster pressure input rod may be installed incorrectly, possibly causing an increased actuating force or a disconnected input rod. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 135, "Light Vehicle Brake Systems."

Consequence: An increased actuating force or a disconnected input rod may affect braking, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Volkswagen will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and correct the mounting of the pressure rod only or replace the electronic brake booster and mounting of the pressure rod, depending of the inspection results, free of charge. The recall began April 3, 2020. Owners may contact Volkswagen customer service at 1-800-893-5298. Volkswagen's number for this recall is 47P8.

As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, "Rear Visibility."

Consequence: A black or frozen rear view image reduces the driver's visibility when reversing, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Volkswagen will notify owners, and dealers will update the infotainment system software, free of charge. The recall began December 11, 2020. Owners may contact Volkswagen customer service at 1-800-893-5298. Volkswagen's number for this recall is 91BB/91BC.

Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Volkswagen) is recalling certain 2021 Arteon vehicles. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 138, "Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems."

Consequence: The TPMS may misidentify a tire with low air pressure, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Volkswagen will notify owners, and dealers will replace the wheel electronics and tire valves, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on May 25, 2021. Owners may contact Volkswagen customer service at 1-800-893-5298. Volkswagen's number for this recall is 44R2.

Was switching out the "summer" tires for winter tires and noticed a bubble on the sidewall of the passenger front tire. At the time the car had around 3,000 miles on it. I switched to my spare tire, did not put the bubbled tire back on the car. I had traveled who knows how many miles with that tire like that. If I would have had a blow out, which would have happened at some point it would have been dangerous for me and any vehicle around me. It would have also destroyed a $700 rim, which I would have had to pay for. I replaced all 5 tires…

Volkswagen has issued an interim safety recall for certain VW vehicles. We believe this also incorporates VW Arteon. The Passenger Occupant Detection System (PODS) detects a malfunction, switches off the passenger airbag, displays an Airbag error and renders the passenger seat inoperable due to increased risk of injury. I’m alerted by the illumination of the airbag warning light, an acoustic warning sound, an error message displayed on the instrument cluster. I’ve been to 2 Volkswagen Dealerships, they report this is a common concern noted…

On my driver's screen, an error message popped up that read "SOS, ERROR: Emergency call function. Service vehicle!" I took my car to the dealership. This was in November of 2023. They were able to remove the error message but the module itself was broken and the SOS feature was not working and would need to be replaced. This module also affects the ability to talk hands-free. The infotainment system begins to lag after being connect for >30 minutes. The touch screen stops responding to immediate inputs and takes up to 15 seconds to respond. Soon after, the screen will go black and not display any information when connected to CarPlay. Controls become very slow to respond and the map colors and images becomes scrambled making the driver spend a much longer period of time trying to navigate safely. To correct the issue, the vehicle must be turned off.

After the vehicle has been sitting for some time, it will repeatedly beep and display “travel assist not available” with a warning triangle. It seems to be steering wheel related. Tire is 245/35 R 20. Tire sidewall blew out on a small bump/pothole at less than 15mph, losing all pressure and forcing to be towed. These are OEM tires with less than 2500 miles on them. Model is on backorder, so all new tires for vehicle had to be replaced. These tires are a known issue for the VW Arteon and customers are forced to pay for replacements at significant cost to "upgrade" to safer more well-built tires.

Travel Assist blends the functions of Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Assist to ensure that your Volkswagen maintains a safe distance from the vehicle ahead and keeps you centered in the lane. Constant travel assistance issue warning light during driving, and randomly turning on/off or turning the wheel, going over bumps. This issue was address at the dealership where they replace the wheel buttons that controls the cruise controls and volumes. This did not fix the issue. I need a switch that goes in the steering column. This switch controls auto start/stop, cruise control, lane keeping assist, front pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control and much more. This switch is currently not available and has been unavailable for purchase for well over a month. I feel that I am not driving a safe vehicle and that because my vehicle was low volume car there is very little concern from VW to get this part produced.

After the vehicle has been sitting for some time, it will repeatedly beep and display “travel assist not available” with a warning triangle. It seems to be steering wheel related. It does not do it sitting still, only while moving. This happens every morning for the first few minutes of driving - often for several miles, and is getting worse. Today, it happened over 10 times within a 1 mile drive. Started as rare and sporadic happenings about two months ago, now is nearly every time I start up and drive the car.

This defect causes multiple, non-periodic, but repeated, "Travel assist unavailable" audible and visual alarms at seemingly unrelated and unpredictable times while driving. My favorite times are when you start making a turn after coming to a full stop and it alarms, asking you to take your eyes off the road and look at the dash. There is no way to turn the alarm off. It occurs even if you have the feature it is alarming about disabled or turned off. When the alarm triggers, the display has multiple yellow icons and frequently a large text/g…

The warning lights flash on and off, sometimes multiple times a second, sounding a loud beeping each time. It is triggered at engine start and persists through all speeds. I have experienced it 0-70 mph. The flashing lights and associated rapid beeping indicating the failure is extremely distracting while driving. Warning lights and warning sounds are designed to alert the driver to a potential safety issue so ignoring the lights and sounds is dangerous in the event it is a different caution/warning. However, also not ignoring it is dangerous b…

Auto ran into a slow moving car at the top of a hill. Minor damage to other car. Fire started on the arteon and then totalled the car. This could have caused death. Car was inspected by insurance company and they determined the car to be a total loss. No other analysis has been completed. No warning lamps or message or symptoms of problems existed before.
