Recall history

5 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.

77V245000 · Vehicle Speed Control:Cables

Reported: 1977-12-30 (December 30, 1977) · Model years: 1974, 1975

THE ACCELERATOR CABLE ASSEMBLY IN THE INVOLVED VEHICLES COULD FAIL PREMATURELY UNDER CERTAIN OPERATING CONDITIONS. THIS WOULD EITHER PREVENT THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL FROM RETURNING TO THE IDLE POSITION OR CAUSE A LOSS OF ADEQUATE ENGINE POWER.

Remedy: DEALER WILL INSPECT AND, IF NECESSARY, INSTALL A NEW ACCELERATOR CABLE, WITHOUT CHARGE TO OWNER.

75V212000 · Engine And Engine Cooling:Engine

Reported: 1975-12-19 (December 19, 1975) · Model years: 1976

83V117000 · Fuel System, Gasoline:Fuel Injection System

Reported: 1983-11-09 (November 9, 1983) · Model years: 1976, 1977, 1978, 1979, 1980

THE FUEL PUMP MAY STOP FUNCTIONING WITHOUT WARNING. THIS CAN OCCUR BECAUSE AN ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR IN THE FUSE PANEL MAY OVERHEAT AND INTERRUPT THE ELECTRICAL CIRCUIT.

Remedy: DEALER WILL INSPECT THE FUSE BOX AND ITS CONNECTORS FOR CORROSION, AND CORRECT WHERE NECESSARY. A BYPASS ADAPTER TO THE FUEL PUMP ELECTRICAL CIRCUIT WILL BE INSTALLED.

77V184000 · Service Brakes, Hydraulic:Foundation Components:Disc:Caliper

Reported: 1977-10-19 (October 19, 1977) · Model years: 1978

ON THE INVOLVED VEHICLES, THE TWO GUIDE BOLTS FOR EACH OF THE LEFT AND RIGHT SIDE FREE-FLOATING FRONT BRAKE CALIPERS MAY NOT HAVE BEEN TIGHTENED ACCORDING TO SPECIFICATIONS DURING ASSEMBLY.

Remedy: THE DEALER WILL TIGHTEN THE FRONT BRAKE CALIPER GUIDE BOLTS TO SPECIFICATIONS, FREE OF CHARGE, WHERE FOUND NECESSARY.

80V146000 · Service Brakes, Hydraulic:Foundation Components:Disc:Caliper

Reported: 1980-11-12 (November 12, 1980) · Model years: 1980, 1981

ON CERTAIN VEHICLES, POROUS SPOTS MAY HAVE DEVELOPED ON THE INTERIOR SURFACE OF THE THREADED HOLE FOR THE BRAKE HOSE DURING THE MOULDING PROCESS. THESE SPOTS ALLOW BRAKE FLUID TO SEEP FROM THE CALIPERS DURING HEAVY BRAKE APPLICATIONS.

Remedy: BOTH FRONT BRAKE CALIPERS WILL BE INSPECTED FOR BRAKE FLUID SEEPAGE AND WILL BE REPLACED, IF NECESSARY, WITHOUT CHARGE.

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.

Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.
