THE DISPLAY SCREEN SAYS ERROR: AIRBAG, THEN IT SAYS ERROR: TRANSMISSION. ALL THE BOTTONS ON THE STREEING WHEEL DO NOT WORK CURSE CONTROL, BOTTONS FOR CHANGING THE DISPLAY TO SEE INFO ABOUT THE CAR, AND RADIO. THE CAR WAS DRIVING ON CITY STREETS WHEN THE MESSAGES FIRST WHERE NOTICED. I THINK IT HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH INSIDE THE STEERING WHEEL AND THINK IT MIGHT BE THE CLOCK SPRING. THE FACT THAT IT IS SAYING ERROR: AIRBAG, I AM CONCERNED THAT THE AIRBAG WILL NOT WORK, OR MIGHT JUST GO OFF FOR NO REASON.

THIS IS A 2015 TDI GOLF THAT SAT ON THE DEALER CAR LOT FOR MORE THAN TWO YEARS. WE BOUGHT IT SPRING 2018. MINIMAL MAINTENANCE DONE ON VEHICLE WHEN CAR WAS PURCHASED. IN FACT, WE BOUGHT THREE. TIRES HAD FLAT SPOTS, AND HAD TO ALL BE REPLACED. MY DAUGHTER'S CAR DEVELOPED SOFT BRAKES. MINE AS WELL, AND NOT STOPPING WELL. HER CAR FAILED TO STOP, RESULTING IN A CRASH...THIS NEEDS TO BE CHECKED OUT THAT THE BRAKE FLUSH AND FLUID ARE REPLACED EARLIER THAN THE "RECOMMENDED" 30,000 MILE MAINTENANCE. A defect that meets the definition of a nonconformity in Washington State, and that is covered under warranty, caused the vehicle to stall while driving and caused the vehicle to not accelerate when the accelerator was pressed. My safety was put at risk when this happened on a 50 mph road because vehicles behind me expected my vehicle in front of them to accelerate in a predictable way with the flow of traffic. JUST IN FRONT OF THE SHIFTER AND BEHIND THE CENTER STORAGE CONSOLE, METALLIC TRIM ON PLASTIC PEELED UP LEAVING A RAZOR SHARP EDGE. I DID NOT SEE THIS DEFECT. AS I PULLED MY KEYS OUT OF THE CONSOLE, THE SMALLEST FINGER ON MY RIGHT HAND WAS BADLY SLICED, CAUSING QUITE A LOT OF BLEEDING. HAD I BEEN DRIVING AT THE TIME, THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE OF THE SURPRISE, PAIN, AMOUNT OF BLOOD AND THE DISTRACTION CAUSED BY THOSE THINGS. FORTUNATELY, I HAD JUST PARKED AT MY HOME AND WAS ABLE TO RUN INSIDE AND STANCH THE BLOOD FLOW.

HORN. It takes great effort to sound the horn on this model VW. I am the original owner, and took it to two (2) VW dealers and they said that it works properly, but then again, they pressed very hard to make it work, and not how a normal driver would use it. For me and other drivers however, normal pressure on the horn will not sound it. I have driven many cars over the years (I am 63 and started driving 15-1/2) and I find this dangerous. The right rear coil spring fractured at the lower control end of the coil. This model was subject to a recall (19V188000) for premature fracture of the coil spring. However, according to VW this recall did not affect the VIN of our vehicle. Suspect that the recall either should have included our VIN or that the replacement springs have a similar material defect.

When coasting with foot off the accelerator at normal road speeds starting at greater than ~30 mph, the vehicle will bleed speed normally until around 25 mph. At that point the transmission will suddenly grab and rapidly decelerate the vehicle down to approximately 15 mph. This has happened consistently since the car was delivered and after taking the car to two separate dealers for investigation was assured that it's part of the normal operation of t…

The U-shaped on the passenger door jamb the the door latch attaches to came loose preventing the door from closing completely. Ganley VW tightened up the fasteners without writing up a service order so it would be reported to VW. They did not use a torgue wrench. I asked them to use thread locker to help prevent this from recurring. They refused and stated VW does not permit them to use thread locker. It took 8 days to get an appointment to repair this.

While operating my 2015 Volkswagen Golf SportWagen, the ignition key becomes stuck in the steering column and does not release as designed. This appears related to known steering column defects and recalls (NHTSA Campaign 18V464000 / 19V615000). My dealer states my VIN is not covered, but this is a known issue for my model year. This creates a safety hazard as it may prevent the vehicle from being shut off or parked securely.

CLOCK SPRING FAILED AT 52,000 MILES--AFFECTING BOTH THE AIRBAG AND HORN. VW REFUSED TO REIMBURSE ME FOR THE REPAIR, DESPITE THEIR CLOCK SPRING RECALL ON MULTIPLE VW MODELS, THAT WAS INITIATED BY NHTSA INVESTIGATION.

I did a left-U turn- heard a loud sound, and then all the electrical things on my steering wheel failed, like horn, air bag, and controls. The failed airbag light is on, and it has other warning lights as well. I am now not protected in a crash, nor can I use my horn. I believe from a bit of research that my car has what I think is the same clockspring defect that VW has had in a TON of their vehicles- mine has failed- but does not seem to fall into a safety recall. Why is that? This seems to be a serious safety problem they have had- a…

I backed up my car and upon turning the wheel I heard some crackling from the steering wheel. The airbag and transmission error lights came on and I lost functionality of all the buttons on the steering wheel and the horn. Based on research, this is a clock spring that has been recalled for other model years.

After turning on the vehicle, I turned the steering wheel and heard a click, then the airbag malfunction warning light came on immediately. Horn and all steering wheel buttons have stopped working (radio control, cruise control etc). and airbag warning light remains on. This seems obviously to be the broken clock spring problem. Vehicle has about 105,000 miles on it. I am not sure if the steering area was ever serviced during a previous safety recall, but I have never had any service on the steering wheel or issues in that area.

Another time, a stall happened as I turned onto a highway. I had come to a stop, waited for the traffic light, and then turned rig…

In the last year, my car has experienced multiple instances of the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) warning light, check engine light, and a flashing glow plug light on the dashboard. Despite multiple visits and repairs at Sheehy Volkswagen of Springfield, these issues persist, particularly in sub-freezing temperatures. Upon independent inspection of the engine compartment, I found multiple exposed wires, broken wires, and poorly repaired broken wires. The most significant concerns are as follows: Repeated DPF Issues: Over the last three years…

The emissions modification calibration by Volkswagen causes the coolant to be exposed to elevated temperatures due to higher exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) use to control emissions. These elevated higher temperatures degrade the coolant faster than designed and lead to precipitates falling out of solution in the factory filled G13 coolant. This causes buildup and deposits to form throughout the cooling system, particularly in the heater core which can block proper coolant flow & lead to coolant system failure, specifically of hoses associated …

Cruise control randomly disengaged without the brake pedal or cancel cruise button being depressed. Has happened several times in the last 1.5 years of car ownership. No hazardous road conditions were present, car did not slip and was not accelerating quickly. Sudden unexpected changes in speed, such as those caused by cruise disengaging suddenly, are hazardous. Problem has not been inspected or reproduced by a dealer. No warning lights appeared.
