Owner report 11419788 · 2021-06-05 (June 5, 2021)

When the vehicle is started remotely and cruise control was not turned off before turning off the vehicle, the ACC system shows an error and fails to engage when the driver tries to set cruise control. If one relies on ACC often but does not often use remote start, this situation can lead to improper driver expectations and rear-end collisions as the car doesn’t brake when the driver expects it to. This is a well-known issue at VW dealerships and widely reported by owners on VW forums. Mostly it’s just an annoyance, but today I experienced it …

When using remote start function the following safety function are not operative, not working as advertised by VW, Adaptive Cruise Control, Cruise Control, Automatic/Emergency Braking, Rear Cross Traffic Warning and Forward Collision Warning. I have been trying to get my local VW dealer, VW of Corpus Christi to repair the issue and the are telling me that it is a "known issue and that VW is working on a fix. This has been the case for over two months now. My concern is that VW is selling vehicles that have a potentially dangerous safety issu…

While coming to a stop, the car displayed an error code “ Error: Driver Door Contact Switch” and automatically put the car in park using the emergency break. The driver would have to put the car in park, turn off the vehicle, and release the emergency break to continue. The Volkswagen Tiguan would do this at every stop. The driver pulled over and opened/shut all the door to ensure that no doors were open and it was only after reading in a form that the driver discovered that it is an electrical issue/software issue that the computer registers t…

My 2021 Volkswagen Tiguan experienced a complete engine failure despite having multiple prior service visits for engine-related issues while it was still under warranty. Owner report 11706013 · 2025-12-19 (December 19, 2025)

I am experiencing severe oil consumption and leakage with my 2021 Volkswagen Tiguan. The low oil level light began coming on weekly, and I have had to add oil nearly every week to keep the engine from running dry. Recently, I noticed oil leaking underneath the vehicle and immediately parked it. After parking, the vehicle began leaking oil excessively. The problem appears related to PCV system failure, which has caused multiple oil seals to rupture. After researching online, I found many other Tiguan owners reporting the same issues , including…

I changed to the adjacent lane that was wide open and pushed the resume button on the steering wheel. I noticed I was passing several vehicles on both sides of me. At first this happened only sporadically, but now this is happening while on the highway in traffic or while turning in an intersection. Today it has happened 5 times. Owner report 11640872 · 2025-02-05 (February 5, 2025)

Fuel sensor failure caused the fuel gage on the dashboard to incorrectly indicate the amount of fuel in the tank. The vehicle had 56K miles and the entire gas tank had to be replace since the sensor is built into the fuel tank. Volkswagon would not warranty the repair. This is a safety issue because not knowing how much fuel is in the tank could leave the driver stranded in bad weather or in an unsafe place.

At about 60,000 miles a VW dealer told me it was normal for VWs to use oil. Now at 80,000 I have a $2,000+ bill b/c the PCV is faulty and the timing cover has failed. I did NOT get a low dngine oil warning, but mechanic says panic wait it was low ( oil change 4,000 miles ago). This could have led to a seized engine on the interstate. I am upset to learn this is a common problem with this vehicle. It is an expensive repair. From other posters I fear this is not the end of the problem. VW should recall this part .

I then, over the winter got a check engine light, it threw code P24D6 which pertained to the oil leak and/or seperating. I then noticed that on my driveway, I have some oil from my car. I paid a mechanic $200 to fix this plastic drain that according to the mechanic doesnt reseal.

My 2021 Tiguan suddenly lost power causing my wife and daughter to be stranded. Car was not drivable and lost both oil and power. Towed to VW dealer and was diagnosed with a faulty pcv/oil separator causing excessive crankcase pressure. This party failed once car warranty was over costing almost $2000. Prior to the car stranding them they had to drive at less than 25 MPH on the Long Island expressway. oil was leaking from the upper timing cover seals. VW Dealer removed and replaced oil pan with gasket, pov and upper timing cover seals. f…

Date of failure: Oct 12th, 2025
Component(s): Engine, Powertrain, Vehicle Speed Control, Throttle body Description of the problem:
My 2021 Volkswagen Tiguan experienced a complete engine failure despite having multiple prior service visits for engine-related issues while it was still under warranty.

So this is not related to a specific incident, more long term. The throttle response in this vehicle is downright dangerous. MAny of times I feel like I am going to cause an accident. The throttle response is so laggy and jerky that off the line it seems to hesitate for almost 2 seconds. Light turns yellow? Good luck, it will barely downshift and get moving before it turns red. Sometimes the response is good, sometimes it terrible. No predictability. Have to turn it to sport mode when I have to make a left turn into traffic just to get…

We were driving to Mci airport. We felt car jerk. Was able to continue driving. Got off at exit. Pulled over looked under hood, didn’t see anything. Pulled away felt it pulling back. Was able to make it home at just 60 miles an hour. The care would hesitate and jerk if going up slight hill or accelerating. Took to shop. They said it was pvc valve. Which caused crack in oil pan as well as timing chain cover. It also coated under car in oil. I did some research and this seems to be a fairly common issue. Same issue and results. Some of them had…

I’ve had my Volkswagen Tiguen since 2021 fresh off the lot. I have been the only owner of the car at about 30,000 miles my head gasket blew, causing the engine to go into default after weeks in the dealer. They replaced the head gasket and stitched it up, the head gasket blew again at this point I was still under warranty so they agreed to replace the engine. It drove fine after the engine was replaced this year 2025. I started to have a whole host of problems. It began to jerk and hesitate at acceleration. My engine light came on with continuo…

My Tiguan was towed on [XXX] to Beyer Volkswagen [4017 Valley Pike, Winchester, VA 22602] for service to repair a sudden and unexpected vehicle failure.  On [XXX], I started the Tiguan and noticed a hard start. I drove the vehicle about 4 miles down the road and noticed a smell of gasoline when I stopped and opened the door. I immediately drove the car home at which point I noticed gasoline on the road and driveway, as well as a heavy persistent smell of gas. I moved the vehicle to the road and had it towed [$95 at my expense] to Beyer VW for…
