Owner report 11706466 · 2025-12-22 (December 22, 2025)

The engine started smoking at 11,000 and new valve seals were replaced in the head. The engine has started to smoke again at 16,800 mile and dealer said the next step would be to replace the head. Car has been to the dealer 6-7 times for electrical and engine problems. The SOS light comes on almost every morning. Driver seat memory does not work and dealer can't figure it out after 5-6 times, they have replaced about everything on the seat and it still doesn't work.

The contact stated that while the transmission was shifted into reverse(R), the rear-view camera image was black and had since failed to provide an image of the rear of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a dealer three times however, the dealer denied the repair because the update was not available. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. Owner report 11688904 · 2025-09-22 (September 22, 2025)

My 2024 Volkswagen Tiguan (purchased used) has a recurring and unsafe issue related to acceleration and the automatic start/stop feature. When accelerating from a stop or while maintaining slight pressure on the gas pedal, the vehicle lurches forward as if aggressively accelerating, even though my foot pressure has not changed. Additionally, when the start/stop feature re-engages after idling, the vehicle sometimes lunges forward despite my foot being firmly on the brake pedal. This behavior has occurred multiple times, creating near-miss situ…

The vehicle has been returned to the dealership multiple times for diagnosis and repair, but the issues remain unresolved. These are safety systems designed to help prevent or mitigate collisions. #1 issue is only the driver's side replacement windshield wiper is and has been unavailable for over 6 months. This presents a danger that focusing on a different part of the windshield is problematic; secondarily, the smears even using washer fluid are impossible to rectify. The dealership echoes the same problem on many vehicles and is blaming VW parts supplies. I will not use parts stores after many difficult and not acceptable performances of these OTC blades. The second issue is cruise control stops working erratically. This causes the…

The vehicle's engine oil warning light repeatedly illuminates between scheduled maintenance intervals due to excessive oil consumption. The vehicle is burning engine oil at an accelerated rate, requiring frequent manual top-offs to remain safe to drive. This represents an active, known defect in the Volkswagen EA888 engine components (piston rings/valve guides). Dealership service departments are actively refusing to provide complete historical service invoices or log the oil light visits properly, creating an immediate safety risk of engine st…

To whom it may concern: I wish to report what a believe is a defect in the new Tiguan which is causing the engine to overheat. The check engine light came on the day after we purchased the vehicle. This was due to a part of the lower shutter in the front of the car breaking off, which prohibited the shutter from opening and shutting. It could not cool the engine and thus the engine started to overheat. We are not entirely sure what caused the piece to break, the mechanic said it was likely a rock. The defect has occurred since the day the vehicle was leased. The entire multimedia and safety interface shuts down randomly while driving (screen goes black, GPS stops, rear camera and driver-assistance functions stop working). This happens in multiple areas across the city, not in a single location. The dealership initially blamed my internet or phone, delaying proper diagnosis. The first available service appointment was more than a month later, and the vehicle was first taken in on January 27, 2025. Since then, the vehicle has been in the s…

Following a recent Volkswagen software update, the 5F module on my 2024 VW Tiguan (VIN: [XXX], Mileage: 14,449) completely failed. The local dealership (RO Number: XXX) confirmed the failure and advised replacing the 5F module (Auth code:XXX), which is on backorder with no ETA. This initial failure disabled critical safety systems: the backup camera (violating FMVSS 111), the SOS emergency system, and the TPMS. Volkswagen Corporate (Case with [XXX]) has refused VOR escalation and denied alternative transportation. Furthermore, since retrieving …

The vehicle experiences sudden loss of motive power during acceleration. Between 30–60 mph, the transmission fails to upshift correctly, causing the engine RPMs to spike to 5000 while the vehicle fails to gain speed. This creates a severe safety hazard when merging into high-speed traffic. Additionally, the infotainment system frequently blackouts and reboots while driving, and there are intermittent malfunctions with the power windows and door locks. We reside in Florida so it is common to enter the vehicle during the summer months and the cabin temperatue is in excess of 200 degrees which requires putting the AC system on MAX. This problem occurs periodically and was address in the summer of 2025 at the VW dealership locally
