Year-by-year records
Recall history
8 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.
74V244000 · Suspension:Front:Springs:Leaf Spring Assembly:Hanger,Bracket
Reported: 1974-12-18 (December 18, 1974) · Model years: 1973, 1974
NHTSA campaign record ↗82V007000 · Parking Brake:Driveline:Air
Reported: 1982-01-25 (January 25, 1982) · Model years: 1973, 1974, 1975, 1976, 1977, 1978, 1979
THE SERVICE AND PARKING BRAKES ON THE INVOLVED VEHICLES DO NOT CONFORM TO FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 121, "AIR BRAKE SYSTEMS". USE OF THE VEHICLE BY INDIVIDUALS NOT FAMILIAR WITH ITS BRAKING CAPABILITIES MAY RESULT IN LONGER DECELERATION TIMES.
Remedy: THE DEALER WILL INSPECT AND, IF NECESSARY, INSTALL TWO SPRING BRAKE CHAMBERS AT NO COST TO OWNER.
NHTSA campaign record ↗75V101000 · Steering:Linkages:Knuckle:Spindle:Arm
Reported: 1975-05-28 (May 28, 1975) · Model years: 1975
NHTSA campaign record ↗75V131000 · Steering:Linkages
Reported: 1975-07-15 (July 15, 1975) · Model years: 1975
NHTSA campaign record ↗80V115000 · Service Brakes, Air:Supply:Reservoir/Tank
Reported: 1980-09-09 (September 9, 1980) · Model years: 1978, 1979
CERTAIN VEHICLES MAY NOT COMPLY WITH FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 12I, "AIR BRAKE SYSTEMS". THIS REQUIRES THE AIR TANK CAPACITY TO BE AT LEAST TWELVE TIMES AS LARGE AS THE BRAKE CHAMBER VOLUME, TO PROVIDE ADEQUATE RESERVES FOR SITUATIONS WHICH MAY REQUIRE REPEATED BRAKE APPLICATIONS.
Remedy: DEALER WILL ADD AN AIR TANK TO THE INVOLVED VEHICLES AT NO CHARGE TO OWNER.
NHTSA campaign record ↗79V177000 · Service Brakes, Air
Reported: 1979-07-25 (July 25, 1979) · Model years: 1979
THE INVOLVED VEHICLES DO NOT CONFORM TO FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 121, "AIR BRAKE SYSTEMS", IN REGARD TO DEFECTIVE BRAKE APPLICATION AND IMPROPER RELEASE TIME. ALSO, THE ANTI-LOCK VALVES WERE MANUFACTURED WITH AN ANTI-LOCK PISTON WHICH, WITH EXTENDED USE, MAY STICK. THIS PREVENTS AIR FROM BEING DELIVERED TO THE AIR BRAKE CHAMBERS SUPPLIED BY THESE VALVES.
Remedy: DEALER WILL EITHER REBUILD THE VALVE OR PERMANENTLY DISABLE THE ANTI-LOCK SYSTEM WITHOUT CHARGE.
NHTSA campaign record ↗80V013000 · Seats
Reported: 1980-02-11 (February 11, 1980) · Model years: 1979
THE SEAT MATERIAL USED IN THE INVOLVED VEHICLES DOES NOT CONFORM TO FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 302, "FLAMMABILITY OF INTERIOR MATERIALS". THE VEHICLES INVOLVED ARE EQUIPPED WITH PASSENGER SEATS CONSTRUCTED WITH PADDING THAT WILL BURN AT A RATE EXCEEDING THE STANDARD LIMIT OF FOUR INCHES PER MINUTE.
Remedy: THE DEALER WILL REPLACE THE EXISTING SEATBACK AND CUSHION WITH MATERIAL WHICH CONFORMS TO THE STANDARD.
NHTSA campaign record ↗83V040000 · Wheels
Reported: 1983-04-11 (April 11, 1983) · Model years: 1980, 1981, 1982
WHEEL STUDS MAY BREAK OR WHEELS MAY BE DAMAGED BECAUSE VEHICLES WERE ASSEMBLED WITHOUT SPACERS BETWEEN THE FRONT AXLE BRAKE DRUMS AND THE DISC WHEELS.
Remedy: THE DEALER WILL INSTALL THE WHEEL SPACER AT NO COST TO OWNER. DAMAGED WHEELS AND STUDS WILL BE REPLACED.

Problems by model year
Model-wide comparison of the eight most reported components across the model. Cells show counts and shares within each model year. Open a cell for source examples.

Darker cells indicate a larger share of submitted complaints. Components overlap. This measures complaint composition, not failure probability.
Failure mileage by component
Median and middle 50% of usable owner-reported mileages. Ranges require at least five records.

Emerging complaint spikes
Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.
This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.
No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.
Equal-age model-year comparison
Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.
1981: 0 complaints · 1982: 0 complaints
| Model year | Through age 0 | Through age 1 | Through age 2 |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1981 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
| 1982 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
Date coverage across each selected cohort
| Year | Incident dates used | Filing date fallbacks | Excluded dates |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1981 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
| 1982 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.
