2 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.

Reported: 2009-04-30 (April 30, 2009) · Model years: 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009

WILSON TRAILERS IS RECALLING 7,429 MY 1999-2009 GOOSENECK TRAILERS. THE DEFECT CONCERNS THE LOCK SUPPORT TUBE THAT MAY HAVE BEEN INSTALLED BEYOND SPECIFICATION. IF THIS IS THE CASE, THE LOCK COULD DEVELOP INADEQUATE PIN ENGAGEMENT RESULTING IN THE GATE OPENING UNEXPECTEDLY.

Consequence: THIS COULD RESULT IN PERSONAL INJURY TO THE USER.

Remedy: OWNERS ARE TO CHECK THE GAP BETWEEN THE KEEPER AND SUPPORT TUBE AND SHOULD DOCUMENT THE DIMENSION ON THE POSTCARD PROVIDED AND RETURN IT BACK TO WILSON TRAILERS. IF THE GAP IS GREATER THAN 3/8 INCH, A FIELD REPAIR IS AVAILABLE TO ADJUST THE SUPPORT TUBE TO THE CORRECT DIMENSION. IF THE OWNER PREFER, YOU MAY CONTACT WILSON DEALER SO THEY CAN INSPECT THE AREA OF CONCERN AND ADJUST THE LOCK SUPPORT TUBE TO MAINTAIN ADEQUATE PIN ENGAGEMENT. THIS SERVICE WILL BE PERFORMED FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN DURING MAY 2009. OWNERS MAY CONTACT WILSON TRAILERS AT 1800-798-2002.

Reported: 2012-05-10 (May 10, 2012) · Model years: 2012

WILSON TRAILER COMPANY (WILSON TRAILER) IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2012 GOOSENECK TRAILERS EQUIPPED WITH DEXTER ELECTRIC/HYDRAULIC (E/H) BRAKE ACTUATOR PUMPS. SOME OF THESE PUMPS MAY NOT HAVE BEEN PROPERLY HEAT TREATED. THIS CONDITION CAN CAUSE PREMATURE WEAR OF SOME CRITICAL COMPONENTS IN THESE PUMPS WHICH CAN RENDER THE UNIT INOPERABLE.

Consequence: THE E/H BRAKE ACTUATOR PROVIDES BRAKING POWER TO THE TRAILER BRAKES. FAILURE OF THE ACTUATOR CAN RESULT IN THE LOSS OF BRAKING EFFORT BY THE TRAILER, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.

Remedy: WILSON TRAILER WILL NOTIFY OWNERS, AND DEXTER AXLE WILL REPLACE THE ACTUATORS, FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON MAY 16, 2012. OWNERS MAY CONTACT WILSON TRAILER AT 1-712-252-6477.

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.

Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.
