Owner report 11534768 · 2023-07-27 (July 27, 2023)

The awning is self deploying. Sent in for a recall and still an issue. With phone calls to the supplier of the Awning (Carefree Awnings of Colorado) their customer service is suggesting a on off switch. Winnebago are not agreeing with a on off switch, and the are installing a motor brake wedge and a software update. This is not safe, the awning is still self deploying. This is a major safety risk for property damage and or life threatening road debris.

Retractable awning (by Carefree) has continued problems opening and closing, which can occur while the vehicle is traveling on highways, causing a potential hazard to vehicle occupants and other vehicles on the road. This problem has had a recall by Winnebago with repairs, which we have had performed, but it has not solved the problem. Neither Winnebago nor Carefree has a good solution for the problem (continued recall repairs by many other Navion owners have also been unsuccessful)and will not assist with it. There are many documented cases of…

The issue involves the main propane hose that runs from the propane tank to the manifold on my 2021 Winnebago Navion. The Winnebago parts graphic (attached) shows the hose crossing under the RV ahead of the rear tire. On mine, the hose goes over the rear driver's tire wheel well and crossed behind the tire to the manifold. Upon arriving home and smelling propane, I discovered the hose had been severed in two in the wheel well. It appears the hose may have had sufficient slack that the tire caught it and sliced it in half. I am attaching photos …

The bracket which attaches the awning to the roof of the RV Is separating from the roof. The mounting screws are pulling out of the roof. I intend to bring it to the dealer for repair. There was no warning that this situation was occurring. I was inspecting the awning due to a different awning recall issue and found this condition. If it had gone undetected, it would have eventually separated from the roof and could have caused major damage to my vehicle or other vehicles on the highway.

The "basement" storage compartment doors keep popping open. The RV has sic such compartments. I Drove from Maryland (the state of my residence) to Forest City to Iowa to address one of the doors (Propane compartment). The manufacturer fixed that issue free of charge. A few days later (today) while driving, the door to the compartment behind the Propane one popped open. By the time I realized it I had hit a couple of traffic cones. In December 2021, we experienced a failure of the RV Mercedes Sprinter to start. After calling a mobile technician out, and upon research of similar events, it was determined that the Electronic Ignition System had failed. We had the RV towed to Mercedes Service Center in Asheville, NC where the problem was confirmed. It appears that internal windshield condensation can drain into the dash and onto the EIS module resulting in corrosion and subsequent failure. We found a service bulletin (Reference XENTRY TIPS Topic # LI54.2-N-069524; attach…

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.
