Recall history

2 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.

86V090000 · Fuel System, Gasoline:Delivery:Hoses, Lines/Piping, And Fittings

Reported: 1986-07-11 (July 11, 1986) · Model years: 1986

THE DISTANCE BETWEEN THE FUEL COCK AND CARBURETOR MAY BE INSUFFICIENT TO ALLOW PROPER CLEARANCE FOR THE OUTLET FUEL LINE CAUSING IT TO CHAFE. CONSEQUENCE OF DEFECT: CONTINUED CHAFING COULD CAUSE THE FUEL LINE TO FAIL, ALLOWING GASOLINE TO LEAK WHICH MAY RESULT IN A FIRE IF A SOURCE OF IGNITION IS PRESENT.

Remedy: INSTALL MODIFIED FUEL COCK THAT ALLOWS ADDITIONAL FUEL HOSE CLEARANCE.

86V091000 · Service Brakes, Hydraulic

Reported: 1986-07-11 (July 11, 1986) · Model years: 1986

HEAVY LOAD AND/OR HIGHLY COMPRESSED REAR SUSPENSION COULD CAUSE THE REAR BRAKE HOSE TO CONTACT THE PASSENGER'S RIGHT FOOTPEG SECURING STUD, POSSIBLY FRAYING THE HOSE. CONSEQUENCE OF DEFECT: THE HYDRAULIC BRAKE HOSE COULD WEAR THROUGH, CAUSING A LEAK AND RESULTING IN THE FAILURE OF THE REAR BRAKE SYSTEM. FAILURE OF THE REAR BRAKE SYSTEM MAY CONTRIBUTE TO AN ACCIDENT AND PERSONAL INJURY.

Remedy: INSTALL ADDITIONAL GUIDE ON THE BRAKE HOSE HOLDER TO PREVENT EXCESS BRAKE HOSE TRAVEL. ALSO, INSTALL A MODIFIED PASSENGER FOOTPEG.

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.
