Reported: 2026-06-05 (June 5, 2026) · Model years: 2025
Yamaha Motor Corporation, USA (Yamaha) is recalling certain 2025 XTZ690 motorcycles. The turn signal lights may fail to operate when activated. As such, these motorcycles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."
Consequence: Turn signals that do not function properly may fail to indicate the rider's intention to change direction, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Owners are advised not to ride their motorycle until the remedy is complete. Yamaha will replace the meter assembly, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed June 26, 2026. Owners may contact Yamaha's customer service at 1-800-962-7926. Yamaha's number for this recall is 990190. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will become searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning June 26, 2026.

With the brand new motorcycle stored in the garage, the garage is full of fuel fumes coming from fuel evaporating from the fuel cap. Also, if the motorcycle drops to one side and the fuel tank is full, the fuel starts pouring out from the fuel cap. This can cause a fire or soak in fuel the equipment attached to the motorcycle. This is a hazard. Yamaha must redesign the leaky fuel cap seal and issue a recall.
Hesitation and jerking when holding a steady throttle causing popping to come from the exhaust. May cause me to crash due to inconsistent power and control. I reported it to the dealer. They didn't inspect it and only called the tech line. They reported back to me that its a normal operation.
The display panel is completely blank, no speedometer, ABS, oil, engine trouble or temperature warning lamps. Contacted local dealer and Yamaha Motor Co. They said it is a common problem with this model and no replacement parts available. Not having any warning lamps is a safety concern.
Darker cells indicate a larger share of submitted complaints. Components overlap. This measures complaint composition, not failure probability.

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.
This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.
No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.
