ZUMA 125 STALLED AT A RED LIGHT IN A LEFT TURN LANE WITH THREE LANES ON EITHER SIDE OF ME, PUTTING ME IN A DANGEROUS POSITION. AT THE TIME I HAD ALTERNATE TRANSPORTATION AND DID NOT TRY TO RIDE IT AGAIN TILL THE FALL. ALL THROUGH WINTER AND SPRING I WENT WITHOUT PROBLEMS, BUT AGAIN THIS MAY IT STARTED TO ACT UP. IT WOULD NOT START IF PARKED IN THE SUN, AND WOULD OFTEN STALL IF IDLING AT A LIGHT, AFTER WHICH IT WOULD NOT START (OFTEN LEAVING ME IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC). I TOOK IT TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP BUT THEY COULD NOT RECREATE THIS PROBLEM …

ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS IN HOT WEATHER {75 +}, ZUMA WOULD NOT START. PUT SCOOTER IN SHADE, OR COOL LOCATION FOR 15 MINUTES OR MORE, AND WOULD RESTART. NOTICED WHEN WOULD NOT START, THE FUEL PUMP COULD NOT BE HEARD AS NORMAL. ON ONE OCCASION, HAD TO HOSE DOWN WITH COLD WATER TO GET TO START. CALLED DEALER SERVICE, WAS TOLD THEY DIDNOT KNOW OF ANY PROBLEMS. THEY DID SAY THEY HAD A ZUMA DROPPED OFF THAT DAY WITH A SIMILAR CONCERN. *TR

The 2021 Yamaha Zuma 125 is a fuel injected motorcycle/scooter which can achieve 65 miles per hour and boasts a passenger/load capacity of over 500 lbs. During routine maintenance I found cracks in the front seat support structure, where the seat support is welded to the frame. These cracks are on both sides of the front seat support and are a result of metal fatigue. The steel seat support structures are thin, 16 gauge steel and not well designed to support even a 200lbs passenger. This seat support structure can break without warning caus…

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.
