Consequence: The lack of an image in the back-up camera display increases the risk of a crash.

Remedy: BMW will notify owners, and dealers will update the back-up camera software, free of charge. The recall began November 8, 2019. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417 or Rolls-Royce at 1-877-877-3735. Toyota owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-888-270-9371.

As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 111, "Rear Visibility."

Consequence: If the driver relies on only the rearview camera image, the missing or reduced rearview image view can increase the risk of a crash or injury.

Consequence: If the air bag and/or seat belt pretensioners deploy improperly in the event of a crash, there is an increased risk of injury to the driver and front passenger.

Remedy: BMW will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and replace the front seat belt buckles, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began May 18, 2020. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417.

Consequence: A loss of ABS and a reduction in braking assistance can increase the risk of a crash.

Remedy: BMW will notify owners, and dealers will replace the integrated brake system, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on May 25, 2021. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417.

The connection between the 48-Volt battery and the starter-generator may not have been assembled properly, which can cause increased electrical resistance at the connections.

Consequence: Increased electrical resistance can increase the risk of a fire.

Remedy: BMW will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the connection between the 48-Volt battery and the starter-generator assembly, replacing it if necessary, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin April 12, 2021. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417.

The vehicle was towed to BMW dealership. There were no prior warnings or messages or symptoms in relations to this fault. The dealership confirmed that the water pump failed, and caused the drive belt to dislodge, also caused the alternator to malfunction and eventually da…

The Gear Shift area flawed design and defective assembly allows fluid spill to short out transmission and shifting ability. Assembly is not sealed correctly which allows a spilled fluid to leak through the gearshift on and into the the GWS. The GWS was not sealed causing a short in the the assembly & the need for its replacement at substantial cost to the owner. The drink holder is place next to gearshift area with no consideration that spilled fluid will cause the car to shut down and the GWS replacement. 06/21/2022

THE NAVIGATION WILL STATE THE PLACE THAT YOU ARE PHYSICALLY LOCATED ACCURATELY. FOR EXAMPLE WHEN I WAS AT BMW IN DELRAY BEACH FL THE NAVIGATION TELLS YOU THAT YOU ARE AT THE LOCATION. WHEN YOU PUT IN THE ADDRESS WHERE THE CAR IS PHYSICALLY LOCATED TO NAVIGATE TO, INSTEAD OF SAYING THAT YOU HAVE REACHED YOUR DESTINATION. THE NAVIGATION WILL TAKE YOU MILES AWAY AND SAY THAT YOU HAVE REACHED YOUR DESTINATION. THIS IS CLEARLY A SAFETY ISSUE AS THIS CAN TAKE YOU INTO A RIVER, BOAT RAMP AND OR PLACE YOU IN A DANGEROUS SITUATION. DELRAY BMW IN FL…

THE LANE KEEPING DRIVING ASSISTANCE/DRIVING ASSISTANCE PRO ON THE 2020 BMW 840I GRAN COUPE PRODUCES A SUDDEN LOUD "BARK" WHEN THE ASSISTANCE SYSTEM LOSES SIGHT OF THE LANE MARKERS. THAT OFTEN HAPPENS IN INTERSECTIONS BUT CAN HAPPEN ANYWHERE WHERE THE LANE MARKERS ARE WORN. I BOUGHT THE CAR ON 2/29/2020 AND IT HAS HAPPENED MANY TIMES SINCE THEN AND NOT ONLY ON THE DATE SHOWN. THE SUDDEN LOUD "BARK" IS A DISTRACTION, A NUISANCE AND TOTALLY UNNECESSARY SINCE THE INSTRUMENT PANEL ALSO HAS A LARGE DISPLAY SHOWING THE STATUS OF THE DRIVING ASSISTANCE…

Safety was compromised by drivetrain instability and a federal recall involving a starter motor defect that poses a fire risk. On October 4, 2025, our 2022 BMW 840i became inoperable due to worn splines in the rear differential and drive shaft. Customer filing a complaint against BMW for untimely resolution of Recall #25V644. This recall is a known Safety Risk which began in the summer of 2025. It is now December 4, 2025, and discussions today with BMW North America, they cannot provide me an ETA of when parts will be available for my vehicle. In September 2025, BMW issued a recall # 25V644 for a safety related potential fire issue on the starter for my 2022 840i Gran Coupe. It has now been 4 months, and BMW is still telling me they do not have the assigned parts to resolve this issue. Furthermore, NHTSA has somehow dropped this recall off the records for the VIN of my car, which is troubling. My compliant is BMW is not timely in their efforts to correct a safety fire issue for my vehicle.

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.
