I BROUGHT MY MOTORCYCLE IN FOR THE RECALL, #15V537 ENGINE CONTROL UNIT SOFTWARE (REPROGRAMMING TO ELIMINATE A HAZARDOUS STALLING PROBLEM) IN OCT 2015. THE REQUIRED REPAIR WAS DONE. THE VEHICLE EXHIBITED THE SAME PROBLEM AFTER APPROXIMATELY TWO WEEKS. I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE BACK AND THE RECALL REPAIR WAS COMPLETED AGAIN. AFTER ABOUT TWO WEEKS ON A HEAVILY FOGGY DAY THE VEHICLE EXHIBITED THE SAME PROBLEM. I RODE IT FOR A FEW MORE DAYS (CLEAR WEATHER) WITH NO PROBLEM AND THEN ON ANOTHER HEAVILY FOGGY DAY I RODE AND HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. I CONT…

I PURCHASED MY BIKE A 2011 BMW G650 GS WITH 7 MILES ON IT. IT IS AN ENDURO MOTORCYCLE AND I WAS RIDING IT ON A STRAIGHT AWAY GOING APPROX 20-30 MPH. NEXT THING I KNEW I WAS DOWN. THERE IS NOTHING MORE TO SAY THAN THAT SINCE IT ALL HAPPENED SO FAST. WHEN I FINALLY GOT A GOOD LOOK AT MY BIKE - THE RIGHT HAND FORK FAILED OR BROKE NEAR THE BOTTOM. I BELIEVE THAT THIS FORK FAILURE IS WHAT CAUSED MY ACCIDENT. AFTER READING AND SEARCHING MORE INFORMATION ON THE INTERNET I SEE THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME IT HAS BEEN REPORTED. PLEASE REFER TO # PE09026 …

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.

Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.
