Owner report 11524332 · 2023-05-29 (May 29, 2023)

I was driving and randomly my new 2023 Buick Encore GX and two error messages popped up and my brakes started being less responsive. The two error messages that popped up was "Service ESC" and "Service Power Steering". I will be calling the service department tomorrow to get it checked to make sure nothing is wrong. This is apparently an issue with GM cars but I need to verify that it is not an ongoing issue.

While driving at a low rate of speed, turning or speed bumps the vehicle starts to rattle in the front end and steering wheel. Engine feels like it slips while rattling from the front. Seems like a motor mount, suspension, tie rod or some other component. Brakes are very hard and make lots of noise. When starting the vehicle on an incline it Lunsford forward out of control.

Our new 2023 Buick ENCORE GX's brakes continually GRAB whether we are approaching a slowed vehicle in front of us or not. Also, beginning yesterday, the brake pedal that I step on to start the vehicle was totally locked up and I was unable to start the car for awhile. Then, this issue went away and I could start the vehicle. More so, the constant grabbing of the brakes is dangerous. There is no rhyme or reason with this dangerous problem. Although the shift lever is in the Park position, it is not recognized, and the car cannot be turned off or locked. This is an ongoing issue that I have brought to the NHTSA's attention before, which resulted in a special coverage program being issued; however, now GM is not willing to assist me with the special coverage program due to a branded title (used vehicle), and the condition is only getting worse. Tonight, on August 16th, my vehicle experienced a complete loss of power, including engine functionality and fuel/propulsion systems. This stems from the original complaint I filed last fall (11614068) in relation to the turbocharger. I was advised by GM …

When the vehicle engages auto-off at a stoplight, the engine stalls when trying to reengage. The engine also struggles to engage from a manual start, sometimes needing to try starting the engine three or four times before it will turn on. Two Buick dealerships inspected the vehicle and confirmed GM has an open investigation on the issue and that there is currently no fix. They recommended disabling the auto-off in the meantime.

No accident just a concern. On my Buick the clasp for the front set belts are buried between the seat and center console. Making the fastening and unfasting very difficult. The further the seat is forward the more difficult it is. I guess my concern is this over sight may hamper the use of them or possibly cause entrapment during a stressful situation. When starting from a traffic light after the green light, the car made mechanical noises and would not accelerate above approximately 25 mph. It seemed obvious at the time that the transmission had failed, which was later confirmed after being towed to the dealership. There were no warning lamps or messages displayed; however, during the previous days, there were a few instances when the transmission "shifted" hard (this seemed odd considering it is a CVT transmission).

I was driving in heavy traffic when I got a reduced power message. There was no where for me to go to get out of the traffic. This is the second time I've had this issue. I have already replaced the entire turbo several months ago. I took it to the dealer then. They attempted to fix it with just replacing part of it. It didn't fix. The cost to fix it at the dealer was more than I could afford so I took it to a different shop. All together it cost around $2000. Now it's happening again!!

I am reporting a serious safety issue with my 2023 Buick Encore GX that repeatedly shuts off while driving and doesn’t restart when auto stop is on, it leaves me stranded in traffic. The vehicle has been in the shop multiple times since February 13, and the issue has not been resolved. A service advisor has stated he is not comfortable putting me back in the vehicle and wants to help get me out of this car. I am requesting escalation, a case number, and immediate resolution. After having the oil changed in February, the check engine light came …

The Buick dealer in Redlands says they are aware of the touchy brakes but offer no resolve. Can you help us…

Brakes squeaking, squealing and screeching. Replaced once at approximately 8k miles. Dealership ground down rotors twice, brakes replaced once. Tires are worn in the center. AWD GX, steering seems off and unstable. Brake pedal sounds and feels like a faulty spring inside. Pedal gets stuck when switching from gas to brake. Bounces back with spring feel and noise. At times it feels like I can’t control the brake when traveling at a low rated of speed and having to suddenly stop. Then while stopped on an incline the brake feels as if it releases w…

Stabiltrack software jerking my car in a left curve. Took to dealership who seem to find nothing wrong. Reached out to GM with no response or action. Feels extremely dangerous in a left curve unless traction control and Stabilitrack is turned off.
