Owner report 11474916 · 2022-07-20 (July 20, 2022)

During a turn the handlebars became loose during steering. While steering the handlebars twisted counter clockwise (this was a left hand turn) approximately 30 degrees. After pulling them back into place, they were still approximately 3 degrees off center. This happened before the bike had even 200 miles on it. My safety was put at risk by not having full steering capabilities. I took the vehicle to the dealer, and they realigned and tightened the bolt down. There were no warning lamps, or indicators of any electrical or mechanical nature to i…

Driving ryker down road at speeds of 55 mph and motorcycle shuts down. All power lost instrument panel off. Was able to pull over to side of road fortunately. Computer says VSS fault will not start. A Facebook member of a group suggested I check number 7 fuse. I did and it was blown. It says it’s for electrical module. It’s 10 amps. I replaced and bike worked again. Next day it blows at an intersection when I’m stopped at a light in traffic. No power again. Pull over and blown number 7 fuse again.

This motorcycle continues to go into "Limp Mode". This has happened now two times with no explanation from the manufacture as to why. The bike will lose engine power and immediately drop to speeds no higher than 55mph. This was advised to dealer and they were very familiar with this, and initially told me the repairs were denied by BRP, but that they covered the issue and fixed it. VSS code is triggered with three codes making the Ryker go into limp mode. It started happening when I was going around turns (left) then eventually it locked me out of full performance. YAW/SAS C0063 and/or C0052 and *C006C) I hit a guard rail as it jolted me. Turns out there are many that have had the same problem when noted threw BRP dealers. So this is a known problem with the pitman steering arm bushings. Mine is most defiantly loose.

On left hand turns only never right turns, if you are going over 30 mph the ABS/Stability controls turns on and make the wheels wobble and slows it down in the turn. This abrupt slow down cause vehicles behind me to slam on breaks because there is no brake lights warning them of the slow down. I took it to a shop and after a month in the shop, they replaced the yaw rate sensor which did not fix the issue. I have put the bike in the garage for a month now because it is too dangerous to drive until this issue is solved.

Common problem amongst Can Am Ryker riders. When making a sweeping left turn between 20-40 mph, the right front wheel will brake/accelerate on it's own and the bike will jerk. The VSS Vehicle stability system on the right tire goes on at speeds of 30 MPH or more while making a sweeping left hand turn. Like on a canyon, highway or street. This causes the vehicle to apply brake pressure only to the the right tire and then pulls the vehicle further to the right side while makeing a left turn. This can cause you to drift uncontrollably into the right hand lane, or into a gaurd rail or into another moving vehicle. This has happened numerous times. This is also related the the back tire getting very wobbly at the same time…

I got a VSS fault code (C0063) that sent my Ryker into a limp home mode which greatly reduced the speed at which I could travel. This code indicates a problem reported from the yaw sensor. Had I been on an Interstate highway, this could have possibly been a serious situation. I was about 10 miles from home but made it home safely. When entering a left hand turn at moderate speed, the vehicle will go into a lurching, bucking, hesitation period, usually when under slight or moderate acceleration. This results in an uncontrolled wobble that will eventually smooth out but can also result in a sudden burst of power that tends to rapidly propel the vehicle further to the left unless the throttle is quickly relaxed. Hard to describe, but the sensation feels like you are being “squirted” out of the turn. I first noticed this barely a month after I took possession of the machine…

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

I reported the issue to the dealer and they attempted to correct the issue, but it has continued to fail. I contacted BRP the parent company, and they refused to respond. There have been 2 safety recalls and I am no longer feeling safe to ride the vehicle.

I have a 2022 Can-Am Ryker 900 sport. when I purchased it around a week or two later, my left brake and wheel started squeaking loud. I returned it to the dealer. One of the service men said its brand new brakes and tires give it time to wear down.low brake warning came across the screen and my handlebars started feeling loose,a lot of play. I returned it again. They checked my handlebars and fixed my front truck and said my brand new brakes were fine. It wasn’t my handlebars. Rear uncontrollable shaking, swaying on slow low 40mph gradual cornering. Caused VSS Limp mode fault. Codes C0063 and C006C. Almost lost control of the Ryker, Seems traction control or the yaw sensor is intermittently active when cornering. This time it went into limp mode.

Less than 1 week later, the same thing happened. The check engine light comes on and the gauges read VSS Fault, Limp Mode. This is very unsafe as there is no …

At random, the bike feels like it has a severe rear wheel wobble when negotiating a left-hand curve. It's a frequent occurrence but inconsistent and unpredictable. I took it to an independent repair shop and my local dealership but the technicians were unable to duplicate the problem on their test rides.

The cruise control will disconnect randomly causing sudden deceleration. Sometimes it will go off almost immediately after setting it and others it may stay engaged for several miles. It disengaging randomly is a safety issue as I’m not expecting the sudden deceleration and it could cause a vehicle that is following closely to hit me. This issue has been present since I purchased the vehicle and it has been looked at 3 times by the dealer. The first time they adjusted the brake pedal switch, the second time that switch was replaced under recall…
