COMPLETE POWER FAILURE WITHOUT WARNING. BRAND NEW VEHICLE (82 MILES DRIVEN). OWNED LESS THAN 72 HOURS. CAR WAS DRIVING UP A VERY SLIGHT GRADE AT 35 MPH. DEALER DIAGNOSED IT AS A FAILURE OF AN EATON MANUFACTURED DRIVE MOTOR BATTERY HIGH VOLTAGE MANUAL DISCONNECT LEVER FUSE. FUSE WAS REPLACED AND CAR RUNS. DEALER OFFERED NO EXPLANATION FOR FUSE FAILURE OTHER THAN TO SAY THAT IT WAS PROBABLY A BAD BATCH OF FUSES. IDENTICAL COMPLAINTS HAVE BEEN MADE ON 2017 AND 2018 BOLTS SO THE CHANCES OF IT BEING A BAD BATCH ARE VERY SLIM. DEALER ALSO SAID THAT T…

THE BOLT EV HAS A DANGEROUS DESIGN PROBLEM WHEN USING REGENERATIVE BRAKING. YOU DON'T HAVE TO USE THE BRAKE PEDAL TO SLOW OR STOP. THE CAR SLOWS IN RELATION TO HOW QUICKLY YOU RELEASE THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE BRAKE LIGHT ONLY COMES ON WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL IS FULLY RELEASED. THE CAR WILL STOP QUICKLY AT THAT POINT WITH THE BRAKE LIGHTS ON DURING THE LAST FEW SECONDS UNTIL AT A FULL STOP, WHEN THE BRAKE LIGHTS TURN OFF. My wife had just parked the vehicle in our garage and had plugged it into the charger. She walked to the back of the vehicle to open the rear hatch and as she was raising the hatch she felt an electrical shock up her arm, it was strong enough that she immediately came into the house holding her elbow. It couldn't have been static electricity, she was already in contact with the vehicle when the shock occurred, the humidity was very high as it had been raining, plus the vehicle should be grounded through the charging plug. The main infotainment screen provides the critical safety rear view display screen for the rear view camera. This is a legally required function for this vehicle, a 2027 Chevrolet Bolt RS. The failure of the screen means that a clear view towards the back of the vehicle is unavailable. Reversing without the display is hazardous and may result in hitting an object, animal, or person. Online Chevrolet customer service suggested a soft reset. This did not solve the problem. The problem has been intermittent, but is now permanent. The vehicle, whic…

Steering After turning, the steering wheel will not return to center on its own. You have to manually return the steering wheel to the center. This can cause you to steer off the road and hit pedestrians. The steering also will not align even after new tire and an alignment. The car will not drive straight. This can also cause accidents and driver fatigue. There are no warning lights.

2022 Chevy Bolt, less than 10,000 miles. Problem began 11/24/23. Steering wheel locks up at low speeds, gives warning "Steering Assistance reduced" at higher speeds. At low speeds, steering wheel turns only a small amount before it clicks and stops. There is a clicking, or a light clunk, sound that *I THINK* is coming from the front passenger side of the car. The sound only occurs when accelerating, most often from a stop but not always, and occasionally when breaking. It is not a repeated click. GM has stated in their NHTSA recall notice that my vehicle has the potential to burn down my home and has not provided any sort of fix or even a timeline to fix the problem. The recall states not to charge the vehicle in a garage. My home charger is located in the back of my garage and I do not have the ability to charge the vehicle outdoors without spending thousands to redo my home charging system. My garage is under my two story house, meaning a vehicle fire has the potential to destroy my entire home and kill everyone inside. Again, GM has …

I have had people following me, and almost hit me when stopped at a stop sign, or waiting to turn left, because the brake lights go off while the car is still being held to some degree by electric motor braking. The brake pedal can easily become disconnected from the electronic brake booster behind the firewall. When this happens, it stops all driver aids. The safety issue is it can happen while driving, and if using adaptive cruise control, or GM super cruise, if one pedal driving is on, it can without warning substantially slow the car, and has the potential to cause an accident. Its not too far to think the dislodging can cause the boost arm to be placed in a position to prevent full brakeing either. I have not taken it in because it is a design f…

I am filing this urgent safety complaint regarding a critical failure of the steering system in my 2019 Chevrolet Bolt EV, which began experiencing problems at approximately 40,000 miles. This is not an isolated incident; numerous identical reports exist from other Bolt EV owners on public forums like Reddit ([XXX]) and [XXX], often occurring at similarly low mileage (typically 30,000-60,000 miles). So I bought a used Bolt and the steering is sticking, at moderate speed (50mph) sweeping corners it lightly wants to pull harder into the corner and won't return to center if you let off the wheel, regardless of direction, you must always forcefully guide the steering wheel back to center. The steering on my car is sticking and failing. When I make a turn, the steering wheel does not go back to the center on its own. I have to physically pull it back, otherwise the car will keep turning. When driving straight, the steering wheel gets "stuck." I have to use extra force to make small adjustments, which makes the car jerk. The steering also makes clunking noises. This is extremely dangerous because it makes the car very hard to control, and I could easily drift into another lane, overcorrect, or crash.

Vehicle was driving in DRIVE mode, and began to surge as if it was regenerating hard (Felt as if downshifted quickly in a manual), which was odd since it was in DRIVE not LOW. Pulled over and placed the car in PARK. Car began to smoke (First noticed from the front underbody). Exited the vehicle and got far away. Called 911 and gave the dispatcher the information. The car lit on fire. Called 911 let them know the fire had begun. Car fully burned by the time the fire department was able to put out the fire. -What component or system failed or m…

Parking brake engages sporadically and automatically and sometime produce loud grinding noise in front of the car. Passenger rear middle seatbelt is not retracting automatically and is not self adjusting. Reverse camera has changed from a full screen view to a smaller screen with wide bars left and bottom of the image that now is hard to see. I believe this changed due to a software update with no warning. Dealer requests me to pay for this issues to be inspected. I believe this are safety concerns and Chevy should recall them.

The car’s electronics under the hood got very hot when charging at Level 2 (ChargePoint wall charger) at home at night in mild ambient conditions (low 70s deg F). The surface of the electronic component boxes on top of the engine compartment were very hot to the touch but not burning the skin. It is not clear whether the propulsion battery also got very hot or not, but later on car’s display showed that car consumed 10% of used electricity for “battery conditioning” since the last full charge, namely since the car was unplugged and started to u…

My vehicle is fully electric and has been under a recall for fire risk from the high-voltage battery. I completed the remedy from the manufacturer earlier this year, but now a new recall has been placed because the original remedy didn't actually fix the problem. The manufacturer is now stating that they will need to replace some/all of the battery, and they've said it isn't safe to charge the vehicle overnight, charge it in my garage, or charge it fully to 100% capacity. This means I'm unable to use my vehicle safely to drive to work or other …

I'm experiencing the loss of propulsion covered in this bulletin. It's happened around 5 times. https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2020/MC-10176614-9999.pdf The malfunction indicator lamp comes on after each incident and then clears. The problem has been confirmed by a dealer and they are refusing to repair it under either the power train or emission control systems warranty. Losing propulsion is a safety issue, particularly in high speed traffic, and it needs to be fixed.

when driving my car from the airport at Bradley International in CT (parked for a week), I experienced a terrible vibration in the steering wheel which has been intermittent. The vibration went away at lower speeds. I brought the car in to the shop on 5/18/2026 with 74,000 miles on the car. They told me I had to replace rotors, brakes, calipers, brake fluid, and do a front end alignment because the rotors have failed internally. I made the mistke of purchasing a Chevy Bolt EV in 2019. The cars have been on a recall since 11/2020 for batteries that set fire. The center touchscreen will intermittently freeze when started and not recover when driving. When this occurs the HVAC and radio hard buttons also stop responding which prevents control of the defrost, creating a visibility hazard that could result in a crash. Sometimes the freeze will result in the backup camera remaining on while driving forward. When in reverse the freeze results in the backup camera guidelines, parking collision warning and rear cross traffic warning being unavailable. Failure of these systems intended to prevent collisions…

I PURCHASED A 2019 CHEVY BOLT ON DEC. 20, 2019. THE CAR HAS ABOUT 7,200 MILES. WHILE I WAS TURNING ONTO A THOROUGHFARE , A WARNING LIGHT SAID THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE HIGH VOLTAGE BATTERY. THIS HAPPENED ON AUG. 6, 2020. CHEVY REPLACED THE BATTERY UNDER WARRANTY. I TOOK THE CAR TO ALFANO CHEVROLET IN SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA WHERE I BOUGHT IT. I MENTION THIS BECAUSE I'VE HEARD OF BOLT BATTERIES CATCHING FIRE OR MELTING RESULTING IIN DESTRUCTION OF THE VEHICLE.

I WAS DRIVING MY CHEVY BOLT AT APPROXIMATELY 40-45 MPH WHEN IT WAS AT ABOUT 50% CHARGE CAPACITY WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE CAR SHARPLY DECELERATED AND WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON SAYING THE CHARGE WAS DOWN TO 0 AND THAT IT NEEDED TO BE RECHARGED IMMEDIATELY. I PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND CALLED FOR HELP. THERE'S NO WAY THE CAR SHOULD HAVE LOST 50% OF IT'S CHARGE OUT OF NOWHERE LIKE THAT. I WAS NOT ABLE TO RESTART THE CAR OR REGAIN POWER. IT HAS TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALER.

THE VEHICLE REMAINS AT A FULL STOP WITHOUT ANY BRAKE LIGHTS ON ONCE YOUR FOOT IS OFF THE ACCELERATOR. WHEN STOPPED YOU …
