The turn signal going in either direction has 2 positions. The first is regular on that keeps the turn signal on until it is turned off or until steering wheel is turned off. The other position is the “flick” that flashes the signal 3 times and turns it off on its own. We have been driving the new GM Chevy 2024 Equinox EV for a few days (only 74 miles so far) and it has been great but wanted to report a safety concern with the design of the front dash board and curvature/angle of the windshield. It is as follows. When driving into the sun on a bright sunny day there is a bad reflection from the rippled dashboard back on to the interior windshield. This makes it more difficult to see the road ahead. Leading to driver eye fatigue and possible distractions when driving into bright sunshine.

On sunny days the reflective glare off of the dashboard is incredibly unsafe. At times you have serious issues seeing through the reflections to actually see what is on the road ahead of you. Polarized sunglasses do help reduce this glare, but not eliminate it. Sunglasses are also not always available to people driving the vehicle for various reasons. It has been confirmed by many independent drivers and GM is also aware if the issue.

I was traveling on a two lane road at about 50mph and the car applied full strength regenerative braking without warning, quickly slowing down to about 40mph when I took over the throttle. I can’t remember if I was using adaptive cruise control but I believe I was. No other beeps or alerts were present (as with AEB events). There was NO other traffic present and it was middle of the afternoon with no weather except a bit cloudy. I have no idea what hazard the car could have been reacting to.

My wife was driving home after picking up my daughter from a nearby school around 3:30pm on Thursday 1/22/2026. She was driving down a road maybe at 35mph and while her foot was on the accelerator the car did a hard brake though there's nothing in front of her nor is the adaptive cruise on. She didn't hit any button and was taken by surprise along with my daughter. Luckily the car behind her was far away and didn't hit them. We haven't yet informed the dealer. This has happened before and the car has about 3900 miles on it.

Defective turn signal stalk -- often after I engage the right turn signal and complete a right turn, the left turn signal will flash for approximately three blinks, falsely alerting others in my vicinity that I'm preparing for a left turn or lane change. Additionally, it is often difficult to engage the right turn signal, as the stalk won't stay engaged, making it difficult for me to signal a right turn or lane change.

I was in a parking lot and parking at an EV charger. As I attempted the brake, the vehicle did not respond, so I tried to pump the brake and still no response. It eventually made contact with the barrier in front of the charger. It caused some damage to the front end and several lights are lit up on the dash that aren't normally lit. After engaging the right turn signal and turning the wheel in that direction, then turning it back to the center for some reason makes the left turn signal click on for three clicks. The frontal collision warning system is way too sensitive when creeping up to stopped traffic it will beep when there is no risk of collision. And finally the blindspot detection sometimes warns the driver even when there's traffic coming from the opposite direction on the road when there's no risk of collision.

The 2024-2025 Chevy Equinox EV has a major safety issue with overwhelming windshield reflections/glare caused by the odd design choices of the sculpted dash. The dash of the car has a slotted design unlike any I have seen in any other car, including other Chevy models currently available at Chevrolet dealerships. This slotted design creates numerous surfaces across the entire width of the dash that easily reflect the light thus producing a horrible glare on the windshield. After activating the turn signal fully, it will often spring past the neutral/off setting and straight into signaling the opposite direction. Occasionally this is with enough force that the signal will stay on, but it is usually only with force sufficient to tap the other signal and register only 2-3 blinks before stopping. When the vehicle is in one pedal mode, and the car drive is switched to reverse, the car moves backwards and does not slow down contrary to one pedal mode which does not move unless the accelerator is depressed and will slow down when in forward drive. The 2023 Chevy Bolt EUV does operate in One Pedal Mode in both directions. This is a dangerous situation for EV drivers since the car can backup over a person since the car says it is in one pedal mode but it is not functional in reverse. As reported by many before, the glare off the dashboard is a safety issue, disrupting visibility and potentially causing collisions with unseen objects. The TSB #25-NA-069 relating to this issue was installed on my car, but the cabin now looks cheap, reducing the overall value of the car. The pad that was installed cannot be considered permanent, since it is easily removed by the owner. The 2026 model has redesigned the dashboard so the glare problem has been remedied.

The system that failed is the headlight design. I was driving home this evening in a moderate snowstorm, and the snow accumulated and completely blocked the headlights. It was nearly impossible to see the road in the dark without the lights providing adequate lighting. This put the safety of my wife and me (the passengers), and all other cars on the road at risk. This can't easily be reproduced without a snowstorm, particularly wet snow that catches and does not just brush off, but instead accumulates in the recessed light design.

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.

No selected model years have a complete observation window. Choose an eligible year or a shorter window.

Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.

On September 2, 2026, at approximately 3:19 PM, my 2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV unexpectedly applied hard automatic braking while I was proceeding through a green intersection. The turn signal going in either direction has 2 positions. The first is regular on that keeps the turn signal on until it is turned off or until steering wheel is turned off. The other position is the “flick” that flashes the signal 3 times and turns it off on its own. When I set my turn signal to the regular on position to turn right, after I complete my turn the signal turns itself off and goes into the default off position. However when returning itself into the off position, it ends up going into the “flick” position for left turn. The sign…

After activating the turn signal fully, it will often spring past the neutral/off setting and straight into signaling the opposite direction. Occasionally this is with enough force that the signal will stay on, but it is usually only with force sufficient to tap the other signal and register only 2-3 blinks before stopping. This is a safety issue because it looks like erratic signaling behavior to those outside of the vehicle. When travelling on busy highways at speeds exceeding 60mph erratic signaling of this kind can confuse other drivers an…
