80V150000 · Service Brakes, Hydraulic:Pedals And Linkages
Reported: 1980-11-14 (November 14, 1980) · Model years: 1981
THE INVOLVED VEHICLES MAY HAVE BEEN ASSEMBLED WITHOUT THE RETAINER CLIP FOR THE BRAKE PEDAL PUSH ROD. THE ABSENCE OF THIS RETAINER CLIP COULD ALLOW THE BRAKE PEDAL TO DISENGAGE FROM THE MASTER CYCLINDER PUSH ROD.
Remedy: THE DEALER WILL INSPECT AND, IF NECESSARY, INSTALL THE RETAINER CLIP ON ALL SUSPECT VEHICLES WITHOUT CHARGE.
Inspect model-year patterns, reported mileage, monthly activity and the evidence behind each signal.

A PURCHASE OF 4 FIRESTONE R4S TIRES WAS MADE FOR MY 1986 CHEVY PICK-UP FROM THE TINLEY TEE TIRE COMPANY OF DEMING, NM. A FEW MONTHS AFTER THE PURCHASE TWO OF THE TIRES SEPERATED AND WERE REPLACED WITH A PARTIAL WARRANTY FROM FIRESTONE. A FEW MONTHS LATER THE OTHER TWO ORIGINAL TIRES SEPARATED AND WERE REPLACED WITH A PARTIAL WARRANTY FROM FIRESTONE. ALMOST ONE YEAR LATER ANOTHER TIRE SEPERATED AND ONE WENT OUT OF ROUND. AT THIS POINT I DIDN'T WANT A REPLACEMENT, I WANTED A REFUND. TINLEY TEE TIRE COMPANY SAID NO AS DID FIRESTONE SO I WENT AND B…
WE UNDERSTOOD THERE WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A $1000. REBATE ON THE PURCHASE OF A NEW GM VEHICLE DUE TO THE FIRE PROBLEMS CAUSED BY THE LOCATION OF THE DUAL GAS TANKS ON CERTAIN YEAR MODELS OF GM TRUCKS. HOW CAN WE GET THIS REBATE??
NO FACTORY INSTALLED HEAD RESTRAINTS WITCH I BELIEVE CAUSED A RUPTURED DISK IN MY NECK DURING A REAR END COLLISION I WAS INVOLVED IN. GENERAL MOTORS SAW FIT TO PUT HEAD RESTRANTS IN THERE CARS BUT NEGLECTED TO AFFORDE THE SAME SAFETY TO PICK UP TRUCK OWNERS.
BODY PAINT ALL SUDDEN STARTED TO PEEL OFF ALL OVER THE TRUCK. THE CRUISE CONTROL WILL KICK IN WHEN I AM NOT EXPECTING IT TO DO SO, CAUSING THE GAS PEDAL TO DEPRESS. *AK

Emerging complaint spikes
Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.
This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.
No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.
Equal-age model-year comparison

Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.
