I am 6'2" tall. The shoulder straps on both the drivers and passenger side do not adjust up far enough to protect me in the event of a crash. The straps slip down below my shoulder. This is due to the fact that the WT model does not have power seats, so I am unable to lower my seating position to a safe level. If the seat could be lowered, the shoulder straps would sit properly above my shoulder. In the event of a crash the shoulder strap will be totally useless.

The backup camera stopped working around July 1. I took the vehicle to the dealer and the dealer could not fix the problem. The dealer says GM is aware that some vehicles have their backup camera stop working and is working on a software fix. Backup cameras have been a required safety item on all cars sold in the US since 2018. An inoperable camera thus is a safety risk. There are no warning lights or other messages.

While in traffic over 45 miles per hour, the vehicle placed itself into a hazard mode due to the electric vehicle propulsion system. The exterior passenger side mirror is manufactured with flat glass and not convex glass. The flat glass field of view is not nearly wide enough for this large truck. This flat glass combined with the width (distance from the driver's head/eyes to the passenger door mirror), height, and length of the truck creates a substantial risk for an accident while traveling on any roadway or even maneuvering while parking. It is impossible to adjust the flat glass mirror to bring a smaller car to the right side of this truck into the driver's field of vie…

The front trunk latch mechanism repeatedly fails. When this occurs, the vehicle believes the trunk is open and will not let you drive in normal mode. It forces you to proceed in limp mode which is dangerous. The 12v battery has to be reset to have the sensor redetect the close latch. Reports from multiple forum sources show this to be a widespread problem and currently dealer are replacing with the same mechanism and the problems reoccur.

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.

No selected model years have a complete observation window. Choose an eligible year or a shorter window.

Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.

Warnings: There were no precursors to the failure. Narrative: On Thursday, 7/16/26, I was driving my 2026 Chevrolet Silverado EV. I normally drive in “…

When the rear doors are opened on the truck, the interior lights do not come on which is a hassle when securing an infant in a car seat. Further to this, the door ajar symbol on the dash does not come on for either rear door, it does come on for the front doors. I talked to GM about this and they said that since it's a WT model with the base lighting there are no rear door lights or sensors. I found another person with the same model truck where there dealer found the same problem but fixed it.

Rear door sensors do not work. No dash light or dome light to indicate if a door is open or adjar. If a child is in the back seat doors could be left open and the driver would not know.

There is apparently a known issue on the WT "Work Truck" trim of the Silverado EV trucks where the factory wiring harness was assembled incorrectly. This prevents the truck from knowing when the rear doors are open vs closed. If only one (or even both) rear doors are open, all the doors may automatically lock (depending on auto-locking settings), potentially locking the driver out of the vehicle. As a first responder I immediately recognize this as a significant child safety issue: if a parent were to get out to check on their child in the back…

There are two systems that are a hazard and dangerous on the Silverado EV. The First one is the Automatic High Beams. The Auto high beams will continuously flash other drivers on the road. This can blind other drivers and possibly case a crash. The other Dangerous safety feature on the vehicle is the Automatic Emergency Braking. The AEB feature when crawling behind another vehicle in bumber to bumper traffic will randomly just slam on the brakes unnecessarily which could cause a rear end collision. When this happens, There is no need for emerge…

While in traffic over 45 miles per hour, the vehicle placed itself into a hazard mode due to the electric vehicle propulsion system. This happened so fast and the deceleration rate was so quick that it risked a rear end collision. This is the second time this has happened and both were following a heavy rain storm. I drove through a modest puddle that did not even submerge half of the tire wall making contact with the road and did so slowly. Less than five miles later, the vehicle goes into what my service advisor calls "limp mode." I have …

The vehicle experienced repeated high-voltage system warnings and battery conditioning system failures. On multiple occasions the “Service High Voltage System” message appeared along with codes P0530 and P1C26 related to the lithium-ion battery conditioning system that controls heating and cooling of the high-voltage battery pack. A critical U3578 code triggered an urgent OnStar alert requiring immediate service. The high-voltage fault was linked to an overcharged HVAC system that caused the A/C compressor to fail. This led to a full HVAC syste…

When charging my Silverado EV at Level 3 DC Fast chargers it is not charging at the same Voltage / Power as it has been in the past at the same stations (roughly half the power). I have taken it to the service center for diagnostics but they were unable to isolate the component that caused this problem, only reproduce the problem. Further details below. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? - The Level 3 DC high voltage charging is not charging at the same voltage as a comparable S…

Observation: "While operating the vehicle in Reverse (R) with the One-Pedal Driving (OPD) mode enabled, the expected aggressive regenerative braking deceleration is disabled or significantly reduced compared to when driving forward in Drive (D). Safety Concern: "This creates an unexpected driving experience where the car continues to coast/accelerate without input when the accelerator is released, requiring the driver to use the traditional friction brake pedal to stop the vehicle.
