Owner report 11481385 · 2022-08-26 (August 26, 2022)

Wife was driving on the highway at highway speeds (using gas propulsion, not electric) and car shut off without warning, lost all propulsion, alerting me to "Shift to park" to start the car. No prior warnings of anything being wrong with the car. Had to pull over on the highway to stop. Took several minutes to be able to shift to park, turn the car off, and restart the car. After incident, the check engine light came on. Took the nearest dealership who advised the check engine light was off and there was nothing they could do to repair it - tol…

While driving approximately 35mph and without any warning, the vehicle suddenly slammed on the brakes and came to a stop in the middle of the road. If another vehicle had been following behind there could have been a collision. The forward collision alert might have gone off; afterwards most of the warning lights were on. We were able to slowly power through the brakes to a nearby parking lot. We could not turn off the car or put the transmission in Park or Neutral, it was completely immobilized. All of the transmission lights were on and could…

We were driving our Chrysler Pacifica hybrid on the highway and it stalled and said put into park and completely turned off. When we pulled over to the side of the road, the car would not start and had to be towed to the dealership. It was very unsafe and not the first time that our car has turned off.

I was driving on a 40 mph road when the minivan flashed a message on the dashboard that the engine was off and I needed to put the car in Park to restart it- essentially the car stalled while I was driving 40 mph. Luckily it was 10 pm with few cars around and I was able to merge across 4 lanes and turn on a side street as the car rolled to a stop against a curb. I tried for 5 minutes to do as the car message was indicating- put the car in Park, turn the engine on, but the car would not return to normal function, Drive would not engage, the car …

While driving on the freeway using adaptive cruise control, the display indicated that the adaptive cruise control was canceled. I did not cancel the adaptive cruise control. The vehicle decelerated and appeared to turn off completely. The gas peddle did not respond, I was unable to accelerate. The screen then displayed “push button to start”, as though the car was off. Twice while driving on the highway the accelerator stopped working and the dash acted as if the car was off - it instructed to hold the brake and press the start button to turn it on. After coasting over to the side of the road I was able to put it in park, but pressing the power button did not turn it off. The check engine light and battery light were both on (they turned on as soon as the car "shut off") We had to disconnect the 12V battery and reconnect it to reset the system and then it started normally - we googled the problem to find t…

THE CHRYSLER PACIFICA HYBRID HAS 2 PWM SIGNALS GOING FROM THE BRAKE PEDAL TO THE ABS MODULE USED FOR BRAKING. EACH OF THESE CARRIES A PWM SIGNAL. THE REASON THERE ARE 2 IS MOST LIKELY FOR REDUNDANCY. HOWEVER I NOTICED THAT IF ONE SIGNAL GOES BAD, THE BRAKE'S ASSIST FAULTS AND YOU ALMOST LOSE BRAKES COMPLETELY. IT MEANS THERE IS NO REDUNDANCY ON THE BRAKE SIGNAL AS WAS ORIGINALLY INTENDED. OVER TIME, WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL'S PWM SIGNAL GENERATOR GOES BAD, YOU SUDDENLY LOSE BRAKING CAPABILITY. THIS CAN BE AT ANY TIME WITHOUT NOTICE.

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

I brought my Hybrid Pacifica in Fed,2022. Last month it just lost power while I was driving and after that engine light up. Need to wait couple minutes to restart the engine and this issue has been reproduced every day. I brought the car to the dealership and they confirm the issue, they did update the software(recalls) but did work. so far they hold the car for a month waiting for parts to replace.

On 11/19/22, while driving to a family member's for Thanksgiving week, we stopped to get gas and turned the vehicle off. When attempting to start, we received a "Service Charging System" error on the dash and the vehicle would not start. Fortunately after waiting several minutes we were able to get it started and made it to our destination. The next morning it did not start and we had it towed to the nearest dealer. The issue was reproduced at the dealer and they did some things to clear error codes, recalls, etc. and the vehicle started on…

Vehicle had a sudden loss of engine power while at speed traveling on the highway. We were able to safely pull over, and after a few minutes restart the vehicle. After additional driving we encountered the issue again, at speed on the hoghway, however the vehicle did not shut down properly and would not start after repeated attempts. The vehicle would show the ignition was on 'run' however would either not allow shifting into gear, or upon shifting into gear immediately throw an error message on the dash stating to shift into park and restart t…

The vehicle warning said it would shut down and to pull over immediately (the "Loss of Motive Power" issue known to these vehicles). THe vehicle is available as it has been sitting at the dealership waiting for the transmission for FOUR MONTHS. This occurred on 8/19/23 and as of today, 12/20/23, the transmission is yet to be replaced. I was driving on a 70mph highway with my two small children in the backseat. It was terrifying to lose power steering and the inability to accelerate. I had to pull over on the busy highway and turn off the van,…
