Recall history

4 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.

18V371000 · Fuel System, Gasoline

Reported: 2018-06-05 (June 5, 2018) · Model years: 2017, 2018

Ducati North America (Ducati) is recalling certain 2017-2018 Ducati Supersport, and Supersport S motorcycles. The Airbox blow-by and fuel tank overfill hoses may be routed too close to the exhaust manifold, which may cause the hoses to melt.

Consequence: If the hoses melt, it can cause a fuel leak, increasing the risk of a fire.

Remedy: Ducati will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the hose routing and correct as necessary, free of charge. The recall began on July 6, 2018. Owners may contact Ducati customer service at 1-888-391-5446.

Reported: 2018-11-09 (November 9, 2018) · Model years: 2017, 2018, 2019

Ducati North America (Ducati) is recalling certain 2017-2019 Ducati Supersport motorcycles. Vibrations may distort the images in the mirrors, reducing the driver's visibility.

Consequence: Reduced rearward visibility can increase the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Ducati will notify owners, and dealers will replace the mirrors with new mirrors, free of charge. The recall began January 28, 2019. Owners may contact Ducati customer service at 1-888-391-5446. Ducati's number for this recall is SRV-RCL-18-005.

18V835000 · Power Train:Manual Transmission

Reported: 2018-11-27 (November 27, 2018) · Model years: 2017, 2018, 2019

Ducati North America (Ducati) is recalling certain 2017-2019 Ducati Monster 1200, Monster 821, SuperSport and SuperSport S motorcycles. The shift lever may have been incorrectly assembled, possibly resulting in the shift knob detaching from the lever.

Consequence: If the shift knob detaches, the rider may not be able to shift gears, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Ducati will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the gear lever shift knob tightness, replacing it as necessary, free of charge. The recall began January 14, 2019. Owners may contact Ducati customer service at 1-888-391-5446. Ducati's number for this recall is SRV-RCL-18-007.

21V315000 · Service Brakes, Hydraulic

Reported: 2021-05-04 (May 4, 2021) · Model years: 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020

Ducati North America (Ducati) is recalling certain 2017-2020 Monster 797, Monster 1200, Supersport, 2016-2020 XDiavel, and 2018-2020 Monster 821 motorcycles. Air may permeate the rear brake system.

Consequence: Air in the system may reduce effectiveness of the rear brakes, increasing the distance required to stop and the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Dealers will install new rear brake hoses, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on June 28, 2021. Owners may contact Ducati customer service at 1-888-391-5446.

WHILE RIDING THE MOTORCYCLE THE TWO REAR VIEW MIRRORS VIBRATE TO SUCH AN EXTENT THAT YOU CANNOT SEE WHAT IS BEHIND YOU. THIS IS DANGEROUS AND DEFEATS THE PURPOSE OF HAVING REAR VIEW MIRRORS. Urgent, this Ducati purchase posed a great danger to my safety and life due to the loss of rear braking ability and a fire that was a result of brake fluid spilling on to the exhaust system, this failure posed a great danger to my life, should I had loss this ability to brake due to a sudden slow down in traffic. I did suffer what seems to be a sprain to my left hand as I desperately pulled both left and right hand levers extremely tight in order to stop the Ducati from hitting a wall after loosing completely the rear brakes. The rear brakes continually lose braking power. Have had them bled at the dealership, which they said should fix the issue. However it comes right back as I continue to ride my bike. This is dangerous because I have to rely completely on my front brakes, even in emergency situations. This can cause the bike to flip.

My local Ducati service center has replace the fuel gauge 3 times now and the bike only has 3500 miles on it. Talking to the service manager he says this is a known issue but Ducati will not fix it. This is an issue will all the models not just the super sport. I talked to a regional service rep last summer and he said it is because of the type of fuel used in the US. They why …

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.

PURCHASED BIKE NEW IN AUGUST 2018 AND HAS LESS THAN 1K MILES. UNEXPLAINED LEAK HAS DEVELOPED NEAR AIR INTAKE. LEAK IDENTIFIED NEAR THE END OF JANUARY 2020. REAR BRAKE IDENTIFIED TODAY AS COMPLETELY INOPERABLE BUT BRAKE FLUID RESERVOIR IS FULL. NO ERROR MESSAGES OR SYSTEM FAILURE ALERTS INCLUDING A MALFUNCTION OF THE ABS SYSTEM WAS CAPTURED BY THE BIKE'S ELECTRONICS. I IDENTIFIED THE REAR BRAKE FAILURE DURING MY PRE-RIDE INSPECTION ON 2/17/2020. HAVE CONTACTED A DUCATI AUTHORIZED DEALER IN MY AREA FOR FURTHER INSPECTION AND RESOLUTION.
