Owner report 11427976 · 2021-08-06 (August 6, 2021)

I purchased a new Hybtid 2021 Platinum Ford F-150 in March. On Wednesday, August 5th, I reported to Ford I received a warning light “your charging system required service soon.” Since I had the truck serviced one week before, I contacted the dealer and the earliest they could see me was next Tuesday. ( specialist has to work on the truck). Since I was out of town located in Boone, NC, I went to their local Ford dealer and reported my problem. The earliest they could see me was one week from now. On several occasions while waiting in an intersection to make a left turn, the vehicle loses power or something. I can put the pedal to the floor and I get no response from the vehicle. Eventually after stepping on gas the truck seems to reimage and go. The only problem is I have nearly been T-Boned thinking I will have the power to make a left turn before oncoming traffic gets to me. I suspect it has something to do with the electrical power is trying to switch to engine power and something is failing. I have no confidence in this truck anymor…

Towing faults. Trailer brake faults. System resets itself after truck shuts down and problems go away until an unknown later time. These problems can happen at any time while towing and can cause the tow vehicle to loose control especially when brakes are applied. Happened many times over a 4800 mile trip. The work around fix is to stop every now and then, turn off truck and wait 15 min before reattaching trailer wiring. This problem has not be reproduced by a dealer because the problem goes away after the truck sits and resets itself. At f…

The trailer brake on my truck is not working consistently. When coming down a snowy mountain pass two days ago, the bake controller disconnected (after working for about 5 hours). This is incredibly dangerous and due to the fact that I am on a cross country road trip and all dealers are booked months in advance I have not been able to get any information from Ford. I am going to post links to other people having this same problem. This has happened since the truck was purchased. This is an incredibly dangerous situation and I would have expe…

2021 F-150 Powerboost giving "Trailer brake system fault" when not in use and has never been used. Additionally getting the "Key not detected" alert when key in truck. Battery in fob has been replaced and tested to be good. These errors have no known trigger mechanisms to repeat. Just happen on their own. I am becoming increasingly concerned if these can continue to worsen over time. Dealer says they havent really seen either issue. Truck was pruchased 11/17/21 and currently has 1998.5 miles.

1. Transmission. Stays in higher gears at stops. When starting out it barely moves in response to gas pedal increase. At about 3,000 RPMs it engages and jerks violently ahead. After this happened several times I noticed the transmission gear light was in a higher gear at stop, like 7th gear. Therefore the motor had to rev up to 7th gear speed before it would move adequately. Has to be hard on the transmission when this happens, also embarrassing and very dangerous should you have to cross a busy roadway quickly. It also downshifts suddenly all …

Subsequent visits and followup with dealership have been unsuccessful in the fix. During this time I almost ran over my grand daughter when backing up with no rear view camera. Very dangerous. Also any components relying on the rear view camera are also disabled. I beleive Ford has a concern in fixing this problem. It could result in a serious accident with pedistrian.

Several times, the vehicle has failed to accelerate or respond to accellerator pedal input for several seconds. It seems to happen when switching from electric to hybrid modes, and when shifting between lower gears simultaneously. Once the switch to hybrid occurs the engine will rev high with some acceleration even if the accelerator pedal is no longer being pressed. This acceleration has happened when I had my foot over the brake pedal in anticipation of pulling over to stop since the truck would not accelerate. There are no warning lights or…

When starting from a stop or rolling slowly under 15 mph, pressing the accelerator pedal , even flooring it , produces no engine or motor response for 1–3 seconds. The vehicle then suddenly accelerates. This occurs intermittently on both electric and gas power. Safety concern because it delays merging or pulling out into traffic.

I just started the truck, put it in gear, and began driving slowly through the parking lot. The gas pedal was unresponsive, even when pressed all the way to the floor, the truck would not accelerate or move. This has happened multiple times, both while rolling slowly and sometimes from a complete stop. It occurs intermittently.

In the second year of ownership I noticed that occasionally I would get no throttle response from the gas pedal when trying to accelerate. After several occurrences I began to pay close attention as to when this was occurring. I found that this occurs mostly, not exclusively, when I am slowing the vehicle to a near stop, not a full stop and then accelerating to continue, like slowing to round a corner on a green light and getting into traffic. For example, I was exiting a Home Depot parking lot, the driveway exits to the roadway. As I approa…

When at a signal light with the brake pushed, we are experiencing an issue where the whole vehicle will unexpectedly lurch forward as if hit from behind after coming to a stop. This could possibly result in the truck hitting the vehicle in front of you if you are in tight traffic. Our local dealer inspected but could not find a solution.

This is the 4th time since purchasing the truck that this event has happened with time having the most severe results. When shifting from reverse to park the shifter goes into park and jumps back into reverse. First event (after exiting the truck) the truck rolled into a shipping dock breaking a taillight and buckling the rear bumper. Next two I had one foot on running board and one foot in the truck ant was able to hit the brake stopping the truck. This fourth event one foot was on the running board and one on the ground. As truck went back th…

On November 29, 2023 I took my 2021 F150 to Larry Miller Ford for servicing and repairs related to Recalls 22S71 and 23S35. When the tech was rotating the wheels he discovered that the axle shaft bolts were sheered off on both the left and right rear wheels. The service manager called to tell me that this was a serious safety issue and that only the brake rotors were preventing the wheels from falling off the truck. The service manager told me there was a "Customer Satisfaction Program 22B34" issued by Ford, but no Ford Recall relating to th…

I drove the truck for two days with no additional…

When slowing down the truck lurches forward when going back into electric and/or gas mode, and has nearly caused my truck to collide with the vehicle in front of me. The truck will pick up speed when slowing down, as when downshifting and switching out/in electric to gas mode it propels the truck forward even while firmly pressing the brake.

Truck does not always does not always downshift to a lower gear at a stop and instead remains in 8th gear. This poses a safety risk do to a lack of acceleration and also causes an unanticipated sudden jerk when it does finally does engage in a lower gear.

I took my 2021 F150 Powerboost with Max Tow package into the Ford dealership for service and to inspect a noise coming from the driverside rear wheel. When the wheel was removed the source of the noise was confirmed as a sheered-off axle retaining bolt. I was told by the service department the truck was unsafe to drive. I am unsure if this nut holds on the wheel hub assembly but I'm guessing it could lead to loss of power in the affected drivewheel or loss of the wheel altogether. Upon doing some internet research this is quite a common issue…

The axle bolt on both rear wheel hubs has sheared about 1/2 inch down the bolt. This led to the gradual loss of power to the effected wheel hub causing unpredictable handling characteristics as the interface between the axle and the wheel hub degrades due to the fastener being sheared off.
