Owner report 11625844 · 2024-11-18 (November 18, 2024)

While at a stop sign on a hill the brakes failed. Brake pedal released and sunk to the floor while pressed at a stop sign. I lost control of the car and had to swerve to the opposite side of the road to avoid collision. I then attempted to engage the emergency brake but that failed as well. The car rolled through a red light after which I put the car in park in an effort to stop the vehicle before running the next red light. The car came to a jerking stop after I put it in park. At the time of brake failure, warning alerts activated on the dash…

While driving on [XXX] on [XXX] at approximately 70 MPH, without any encroaching vehicles and with no road obstructions, the automatic emergency braking temporarily engaged on 2 occasions, indicator on dash indicated that it occurred, and I felt the wheels lock up for a short time. After 3 weeks of sitting idle, the car door had trouble to open. We changed the key batteries but didn’t fix the issue. The next day, car door opened without issue and the car was fine to drive. The 3rd day, the car went dead with no response to the key. The 4th day it came back to live again. However, the car went completely stalled during driving. The engine stopped and no lights or electricity can be turned on. After 15 seconds, the car restarted by itself. I sent the car to dealership but they cannot find any issue.

Owner report 11612844 · 2024-09-05 (September 5, 2024)

Total battery system failure to where vehicle would not start/restart, or if started via jumping, would stall out shortly thereafter. Battery problem to point to where jump starting is difficult due to shorted battery lowering availalble power to start/restart engine. This could have caused unexpected removal of power from the vehcile during traveling or in unsafe areas. This appears to be a very common problem with this vehicle as seen on various online forums and lack of part (battery) availability.

Owner report 11715893 · 2026-02-05 (February 5, 2026)

My 2024 GV80 with approximately 15k miles started completely powering off while driving multiple times and the vehicle started itself while in my enclosed garage space with no one in the vehicle, no button/brake pressed, not key fob pressed. I turned this into the dealership for manufacturer repair on 9/13/25 and as of today, 2/5/26, I still do not have my car back. The dealership explains there is an intermittent parasitic draw that they have been unable to identify. The battery drain, they claim, resulted in the car stopping by itself and s…

Purchased my 2024 GV80 3.5t in June of 2024 and have been experiencing intermittent issues with the acceleration. Car hesitates when accelerating and can causing accidents while at an intersection making a turn. I have bought the car into the dealership three times, and they are unable to reproduce. Unfortunately, after reading the complaints and symptoms of the fuel pump recall for the 2021-2023 this issue seems identical. I have reach out to Genesis Corporate and they are no help and don't return calls or emails for days.

I purchased this vehicle new from the dealer. At approximately 8500 miles a noise developed with the steering. It was a low pitched hum. I have taken the vehicle to the dealer a total of 3 times to repair the issue. They have performed the TSB work 3 times and it has not resolved the issue. I just picked up the vehicle for the 3rd time from the dealer and they say that there is nothing more at this point. They know it's an issue and since it involves the steering it's a safety issue.

While driving 45 mph on a straight stretch of a state road, I hit the brakes multiple times and decelerated so I could take the hard right exit and then make an immediate sharp left in a residential area. As I moved to the exiting lane, I turned on the right turn signal and eased off the brake. The car revved HARD, accelerated immediately and the cruise control icon + 58 mph began flashing on the display above the speedometer. I slammed the brakes to stop the car. I am submitting this complaint regarding the handling of a safety recall on my 2023 Genesis GV80. During an approximately seven-week service visit at an authorized Genesis dealership, I was verbally informed that the applicable safety recall had been completed. The Engine Control Module (ECM) malfunctioned. The dealer replaced it with a new one. When it malfunctioned, the car would not accelerate to a speed greater than 20mph. This was dangerous because I was driving on a state highway where the speed limit is 55mph, and I could have been rear-ended. Since having the ECM replaced, the car's performance has been fine. The Check Engine light did activate more than one day before the incident, which also sent a message to the Genesis app on my phone.

I have a concern with the power folding rear seats to increase the cargo space. It doesn't stopped if you are sitting in the seat and pushed the button. I tested it myself. This to me is very alarming and Genesis need to fix it or someone will get hurt or killed like the Hyundai Palisades case. A child shouldn't have to lose their life for Hyundai to fix a known issue. I really hope Genesis will follow suit and fix the problem before anyone else get hurt.

Battery problem to point to where jump starting is difficult due to shorted battery lowering availalble power to start/restart engine. This could have caused unexpected removal of power from the vehcile during traveling or in unsafe areas.
