We were driving and went through a dip in the road and the whole front end of the A- Frame bent/buckled. We have not had any problems with this in the past, but it is a brand new trailer and we are learning it has happened to a few others all Grand Design XLS series. We wonder if the steel used is not of top quality and is too thin.

Removed the winter cover for the RV and the laminated cover for the tongue jack was disintegrated, exposing the power switches and light. This jack was already previously replaced due to the same, or similar problem. The replacement jack has the same touch pad cracking problem as the original jack. I do not know if the jack may extend on its own if the circuitry inside gets wet, like the first recall, but I will disconnect it from the power source while on the road, and once at a campsite.

The 2019 Grand Design Imagine Travel Trailer is built of a Lippert chassis, this chassis combined with the commonly used Equal-i-zer sway control hitch is resulting in the trailer safety chains being damaged, which may cause serious damage, injury or death if the trailer becomes separated from the tow vehicle hitch. These chains are also linked to the trailer's emergency braking system. Grand Design should recall and cover the movement of the safety chain's attachment point further back on the trailer frame, to avoid safety chain failure due …

I am filing a formal safety complaint against Camping World for structural equipment overloading, unauthorized safety component manipulation, and willful public safety endangerment. On May 29, the dealer hitched a 37' long trailer to my half ton truck frame. This combination violates critical highway stability standards. A 37' trailer requires a minimum 178" tow vehicle wheelbase to counteract lateral wind forces and semi-truck displacement. Operating it with a 157" wheelbase leaves a catastrophic 21" layout deficit, causing uncontrollable high…

Noticed the frame on our trailer is starting to bulge. We are part of a Facebook group for our specific trailer and apparently this is a common problem/ occurrence. We contacted both Grand Design and Lippert for assistance with fixing the issue which they have done for many but since we are second owners they are refusing to help. This is a major safety issue and of left unfixed could potentially cause a bad accident/ incident. Both trailer hitch safety chains have been severed/cut where they attach to the trailer's safety chain mounting loop. This is due to contact with the tow vehicle's ball/hitch on tight turns. At the trailer dealer's advice, I contacted Grand Design's customer service to obtain a case# (181049) and guidance for a warranty repair. Instead, they claim I was sold the wrong trailer hitch and that they are not responsible. After researching online trailer owner groups, I have found many instances of this same problem occurring. Upon inspection of the frame based on other complaints of frame cracking, I found approximate 2" cracks in the steel I beam frame rail above the leaf spring hangers. I read that this is indicative of frame flex and compromised or wrong steel thickness of the I beam. Im currently working with the manufacture to resolve this, but I'm concerned of the quality of the entire frame rails and the safety/integrity of possible repairs.

In September 2023, we purchased our 2024 Grand Design Imagine AIM RB travel trailer. We started receiving trailer brake warnings on our truck immediately after purchasing the camper and brought it back to the dealership. The service technicians assured us that there were no issues with the brakes. In January 2024, the brakes locked up and started burning while we were driving on [XXX] in the Phoenix metro area. We had the camper towed to an authorized service dealer in Surprise, AZ, where the brakes were replaced and a switch was installed…

Frame is cracked. Both sides frame rails have horizontal cracks forming near the leaf spring mount brackets. The structural integrity of our camper is now compromised. If a frame rail were to fail during travel, the loss of control to the tow vehicle would follow, most likely on public roadways. The crack will be present no matter who inspects it. The failure was noticed when I inspected the frame after being made aware of how common frame rail failures are with Grand Design products. Will be following through with attempting to have the manufa…

We have been having problems with our slide out for 2 years. The slide mechanism kept getting damaged/"chewed up" and kept needing to be replaced. We could not get the slide to go in or out on its own several times over the 2-year period. After 2 years of taking it for repeated repairs, a Lippert tech came to the shop to inspect it. Per Lippert, the manufacturer of the chassis, "Inspection of chassis found cracks in mains at crossmember near center hanger. Hangers start to roll in one direction. Front header bent." While driving i had the frame ibeam break above rear passenger side shackle that holds the leaf spring and axel to frame. This was the actual ibeam/frame itself that broke about 2 inches above shackle weld. After further inspection we found an additional crack that started in the frame above the driver side rear shackle as well. If it broke it would have meant complete loss of axel. Luckily the leaf spring on passenger side with shackle and frame pined against bottom of frame.

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.

I have received mail from the manufacturer, Grand Design, stating my RV is subject to NHTSA Recall No. 22V-308. They provided details to indicate my RV may have a cracked fitting in it's propane gas distribution system. A physical inspection must be performed, and the fitting must be replaced if it has a crack. Obviously, this is troubling because it represents a danger of fire, explosion, or both, in other words life threatening. I have moved 1,200 miles from where I lived when I purchased this RV, so returning to the franchised dealer who …
