Reported: 2017-11-22 (November 22, 2017) · Model years: 2011

Heartland Recreational Vehicles, LLC (Heartland) is recalling certain 2010-2011 Elkridge, North Country, North Trail FW, 2011 Big Country, Bighorn, Caliber, Country Ridge, Cyclone, Edge, Focus, Graystone, Landmark, MPG, North Trail TT, Road Warrior, Sundance, Sundance TT, Sundance XLT FW, Sundance XLT TT, Trail Runner, 2018 Fuel TT, 2016-2018 Sundance XLT TT, and Torque TT recreational vehicles, equipped with certain Kidde Plastic-Handle or Push Button 'Pindicator' Fire Extinguishers. These extinguishers may become clogged, preventing the extinguisher from discharging as expected or excessive force may be needed to activate the extinguisher. Additionally, in certain models, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury and also render the product inoperable. Consequence: In the event of a fire, if the fire extinguisher does not function properly, it can increase the risk of injury.

DURING THE ANNUAL SERVICE OF MY 2010 HEARTLAND TRAVEL TRAILER THE SERVICE FACILITY DISCOVERED THAT THREE OF THE FOUR WHEELS ON MY CAMPER HAD SEVERE CRACKS. THE SERVICE FACILITY CONTACTED HEARTLAND AND THEY WERE TOLD THAT HEARTLAND DID NOT HAVE A RECALL FOR THE WHEELS. IT SEEMS TO ME THAT IF THREE OF THE FOUR WHEELS THAT CAME WITH MY TRAILER (WHICH I BOUGHT NEW) HAD SEVERE CRACKS, IT IS A VERY GOOD INDICATION THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THEM. I BELIEVE THAT IF ONE OR MORE OF THESE WHEELS FAILED WHILE I WAS TOWING MY TRAILER THE RESULTING WRE…

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.

Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.
