21V428000 · Equipment:Recreational Vehicle/Trailer:Lpg Systems

Reported: 2021-06-04 (June 4, 2021)

Heartland Recreational Vehicles, LLC. (Heartland) is recalling certain 2018-2021 Mallard, Shadow Cruiser, Sundance XLTTT, Wilderness, Prowler, Trail Runner, 2018-2019 Pioneer, Terry Classic, 2020-2021 Lithium, and 2021 North Trail trailers equipped with a Winntec model 6020 two-stage propane regulator. The regulator may fail, causing an increase in propane pressure.

Consequence: Increased propane pressure can enlarge the flames in gas appliances, increasing the risk of a fire.

Remedy: Dealers will replace the regulator and test the propane system for leaks, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed August 3, 2021. Owners may contact Heartland customer service at 1-877-262-8032.

DURING THE ANNUAL SERVICE OF MY 2010 HEARTLAND TRAVEL TRAILER THE SERVICE FACILITY DISCOVERED THAT THREE OF THE FOUR WHEELS ON MY CAMPER HAD SEVERE CRACKS. THE SERVICE FACILITY CONTACTED HEARTLAND AND THEY WERE TOLD THAT HEARTLAND DID NOT HAVE A RECALL FOR THE WHEELS. IT SEEMS TO ME THAT IF THREE OF THE FOUR WHEELS THAT CAME WITH MY TRAILER (WHICH I BOUGHT NEW) HAD SEVERE CRACKS, IT IS A VERY GOOD INDICATION THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THEM. I BELIEVE THAT IF ONE OR MORE OF THESE WHEELS FAILED WHILE I WAS TOWING MY TRAILER THE RESULTING WRE…

WITH ONLY 7000 MILES ON TOW MAX TRAILER TIRES, ST235/80R-16/10 HIGHWAY BW, RIGHT FRONT TIRE ON FRONT AXLE SEPARATED WITH ALMOST ALL OF THE REMAINING TREAD GONE. NEW TIRE PUT ON - WE PAID $100 - REBATED $70 FROM TIRE COMPANY. ON 1/23/14, ONLY 3000 MILES LATER, NOTICED LEFT FRONT TIRE, SAME AXLE, SEPARATING. DROVE TO QUALIFIED TIRE STORE AND EXPECTED TO HAVE THAT TIRE REPLACED, ONLY TO FIND OUT THAT WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE FIRST TIRE REPLACED, THE REMAINING 3 TIRES WERE ALL SEPARATING AND VERY CLOSE TO BLOWING OUT. This is an active recall for other Heartland Trailers but appears that the scope of the issue should be expanded as I have been told this issue is not under recall for my specific unit. Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.
