After having a warranty update to the ECU on the bike (Honda campaign #KP7) the first time I rode up a moderately steep hill, that I had ridden the bike up previously without issue, the bike stopped without warning on the hill, the engine stayed running but there was no drive to the rear wheel. I had to apply both brakes to keep from rolling backwards down the hill. I was in a very precarious position since the hill was too steep for me to dismount or turn around, After carefully considering my position I found that the bike would engage the tr…

I own a 2025 Honda Africa Twin 1100 DCT with approximately 7,300 miles. The rear brake pads became completely worn down to the metal pad-wear indicator clips. Today, I attempted to turn left onto Indiana State Highway 12 and as I was turning my motorcycle lost all throttle. The result of losing throttle meant I fell over in the middle of the highway. After reaching 6mph, the throttle sputtered and the traction control light flashed. Thankfully, the drivers on the highway were paying attention. If they weren’t, I could have easily died because cars travel at speeds of 50-60mph, even though the speed limit is 45mph. This is not the first time I have had this issue. On May 1, I had this issue at an in…

I own a 2025 Honda Africa Twin 1100 DCT with approximately 7,300 miles. The rear brake pads became completely worn down to the metal pad-wear indicator clips. According to maintenance personnel at MotorWorld in El Cajon, CA, the root cause was the rear brake caliper failing to retract to its original position after braking. This caused the pads to remain pressed against the rotor while riding, continuously wearing down the pads and rotor. The pads were eventually ground down to the clips, causing severe metal-on-metal contact, grinding, and ext…

Have experienced myself that this motorcycle, which utilizes a DCT clutchless system for gear changes, is prone to stalls when taking off from a stop at low throttle inputs. A benefit of the DCT system is it's purported not to stall. This is very different than the fuel tank / filter issue which resulted in a recall of 2020 models, that affected bikes at high speed. I have spoken to several owners of the same bike all experienced the same. We discuss frequently on an owner's forum. An online poll shows 45% of owners have experienced it. It …

While traveling approx 15 mph, I pulled in the clutch lever to change gears and the engine lost all power, I had to pull over immediately and put the bike in neutral and turn the bike off and on again. I was in heavy traffic when the bike lost all power. It’s only happened the one time and I haven’t ridden much since then, and the dealer rode the bike and couldn’t reproduce it. There’s apparently no official recall for manual 2022 Africa Twin, but there are multiple other Honda bikes of the same year that have similar issues with recalls. The …

I own a 2025 Honda Africa Twin 1100 DCT with approximately 7,300 miles. The rear brake pads became completely worn down to the metal pad-wear indicator clips. The rear brake caliper was pushing the brake pads into the brake rotor/disc, resulting in severe metal-on-metal grinding and extremely loud brake squealing. The issue occurred approximately one and a half weeks ago. There were no warning lights, warning messages, or other electronic warnings indicating that the rear brakes were experiencing excessive wear or a potentially dangerous condi…

Random engine stalls and engine dying under acceleration. Most often happens when leaving from a stop at intersections. The engine either immediately dying out before any forward movement or dying out a second later leaving me in a hazardous position in the middle of the intersection. I bought the bike new June 22, 2021 and to date May 26, 2022 this stall has occurred 8 times in 5440 miles; the first stall occurred at 1850 miles 2 months new. Note: this is the DCT version motorcycle so there is not clutch or gear shift lever to erroneously mani…

My Honda africa twin DCT stalls at low speed. It happened twice. When I about to move forward from the stop sign, the bike stalls itself. It is very dangerous for a motorcycle.
