Owner report 11435969 · 2021-10-07 (October 7, 2021)

When I first purchased my ‘22 Honda Odyssey a few months ago, the Apple CarPlay wouldn’t work, then the main center screen started black screening and not turning on. I took it in to the dealer and they ordered the part almost 4 weeks ago. It’s still not in. Anyways, about 2 weeks ago, my van randomly braked while I was going 70 mph on SRT. Fortunately, we didn’t get in an accident. There were no shadows, no other cars in front of us, not any reason for it to flash BRAKE and stop. My mom was next to me and yelled, “What are you doing there are …

Owner report 11451295 · 2022-02-09 (February 9, 2022)

After driving vehicle to run 3 stop and go inside errands I drove home . Estimate of time for errands etc. was about 30 minutes. I pulled into my home's driveway and applied brake pedal to bring car to a complete stop so that I could tilt-in side view mirrors before pulling into my carport. As I did this I noticed that a white smoke had begun to enter the car through the AC diffusers. Smoke was also seen exiting from front right side of engine hood and through the exterior fresh air channel (the wiper blade area). The smoke had the odor as…

Intermittently, my 2022 Honda Odyssey with less than 16,000 miles will “stall” after the idle stop/start system is enacted. The first time it happened, I was waiting to turn left out of a parking lot onto a busy road. The idle stop kicked in, and when I went to go, my car lurched about 5 feet and the engine cut out completely requiring me to turn off the car with the push button start, restart the car, and put the car into drive. Luckily, people going both directions on the crossroad were able to go around me. This has happened probably 10 time…

We were driving on M-14 EB, merging onto I-275 N. As we approached the exit ramp, the vehicle began to decelerate as the engine wildly revved. We pulled over the the very narrow shoulder of the exit ramp, as to allow traffic to pass and turned the vehicle off, in hopes that it was simply a computer glitch. We re-started the vehicle and encountered the same problem. There were no warning lamps or indications of a problem. We managed to limp it slowly to the end of the ramp where we called Honda Roadside Assistance. We had it towed to the dea…

During the incident, I was driving in snowy conditions at approximately 50 mph while entering a split lane. The vehicle began to skid, and shortly afterward I observed warning indicators activating. The air for the last 2 summers hasn’t worked right. Recently it wouldn’t work until being driven for hours then it would cool off. After it would cool down the car would start to get a very strong gas smell inside. After being checked 3 different times we were informed that there was a problem with the fuel line and the design of it. We would have to have it rerouted seasonally. This is very dangerous, they said there was no permanent fix and in the mean time we were left inhaling gas for weeks. Gas inhalation can kill you. This is a very serio…

The Honda High Pressure Fuel Pump Recall is an ongoing and critical safety campaign impacting numerous Honda and Acura models primarily from the 2017-2022 model years. The defective fuel pump component can fail unexpectedly, causing sudden loss of engine power while driving, significantly increasing the risk of a crash or fire. I am the manager and co-owner in an automotive mechanic workshop in Miami, and in the last year several Honda Odyssey have arrived at my workshop with this problem with the high-pressure fuel pump. All of these cars wer…

VEHICLE IS PROHIBITED FROM SHIFTING TRANSMISSION OUT OF PARK WHEN ENGINE IS NOT RUNNING. IF VEHICLE ENGINE SHUTS OFF AND WILL NOT RE-START AND VEHICLE IS IN UNSAFE LOCATION (I.E. IN A ROADWAY), THE PUSH-BUTTON TRANSMISSION PROHIBITS SHIFTING THE CAR TO NEUTRAL IN ORDER TO PUSH IT OUT OF THE ROADWAY OR TO LOAD ON A FLATBED TOW TRUCK. THIS IS POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS IF THE VEHICLE IS PROHIBITED FROM BEING MOVED IF IT IS UNABLE TO START THE MOTOR BUT THE VEHICLE STOPS IN A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS LOCATION (RAILROAD TRACKS, INTERSECTION, ETC).

Our AIS has not worked in most of the 3 weeks since we purchased it. We went on (joined) various Odyssey forums and apparently this is a known defect that Honda Corporation is denying (and can't fix). Som think it is a wrong battery in the vehicle issue or defective vehicle charger issue. Others have found a temporary workaround by opening the hood to reset it. Honda is ripping off customers for an AIS system that is defective. A class action is in order.

When open the tail gate, it will closes automatically - very dangerous when the user (me) is trying to put stuffs in or out of the trunk. It closes on my head a few times. Went to dealership, they said this is a common issue where the strut holding up the tailgate failed and had to be replaced. It is currently not under recall, so I must pay fully for it to be safe.

Observed repeatedly while operating at highway/interstate cruising speed, with adaptive cruise engaged: any changes in road texture - concrete to blacktop, between different types of blacktop or concrete, separation joints, etc - such as when crossing a bridge, crossing state lines, entering open-road toll plazas, etc - results in a sharp lifting of the throttle and at times will also automatically engage the brakes. My speed drops from the set speed (for example, 75 mph) down to 55 or 60 mph, at which point I realize it’s not going to come back on. This is extremely dangerous on the highway, and puts me at risk of being rear-ended by vehicles traveling at high speed.

I cannot put it in gear or in neutral. Last time it stalled me in the middle of a seven lane highway. This time it was in the middle of a hospital entrance. I feel like I am gambling with my life and the dealership won’t listen to me! How many times does this have to happen??

Intermittently, my 2022 Honda Odyssey with less than 16,000 miles will “stall” after the idle stop/start system is enacted. The first time it happened, I was waiting to turn left out of a parking lot onto a busy road. The idle stop kicked in, and when I went to go, my car lurched about 5 feet and the engine cut out completely requiring me to turn off the car with the push button start, restart the car, and put the car into drive. Luckily, people going both directions on the crossroad were able to go around me. This has happened probably 10 time…

Bought our 2022 Honda Odyssey in November of 2021. Vehicle has the Idle/Stop feature. That feature never worked properly. Always said, warming up or charging and didn't work. Recently, June 7, 2025 my wife driving was at the light with the stop feature activated, she took her foot off the brake for it to start up and it was shifting weird. Happened several times. On June 11, 2025, I was at a light and when I let my foot of the brake for the feature to start the vehicle, the vehicle stalled and I couldn't get it in gear. Eventually it went in ge…

I was heading east at about 60mph on the highway near sundown with the setting sun in my rearview mirror. There were no other cars close to me. I suddenly lost power very abruptly, going from 60mph to about 35mph in seconds. I always thought this had something to do with the setting sun angle making a reflection on the highway that the car interpreted as an obstruction, but I still don't know what happened. Something similar happened one other time, but at much slower city streets at about 35mph. It was raining, and again I think a reflec…

While approaching an intersection, a 4 door sedan in front of me rapidly applied their brakes to stop for a yellow light. I did not see they had stopped in time, so I rear ended them. The impact was so severe, the engine from my 2022 Odyssey was pushed into the firewall and most likely is totaled. If the Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) initiated, it did not occur before I slammed on my brakes. The airbags also did not deploy. The car is undriveable. After driving for only 2000 miles, the car suddenly went into limp mode where the engine shut off. All system warning lights came on in the vehicle and we could not drive the car. The car was towed to a nearby Honda dealer and was inspected. The accelerator pedal was replaced and all error codes were cleared. While we were fortunate that this did not happen on the highway or where there were other vehicles, it is very concerning that a brand new vehicle malfunctions in this way. If my children were in the car, their safety would be put at risk.…

After driving vehicle to run 3 stop and go inside errands I drove home . Estimate of time for errands etc. was about 30 minutes.
