I attempted to accelerate while on my way to work and the vehicle would not start the engine. With the pedal pressed all the way to the floor, I was barely accelerating. Had this happened when I was pulling into traffic or otherwise had to accelerate quickly to avoid an incident, it could have been extremely dangerous. The battery almost completely died before I was able to pull over, but turning off the vehicle and starting it again returned the vehicle to normal. After driving the vehicle for about 5 miles I stopped to make a left turn and when I let off the brake and pressed the gas pedal the car crept forward but wouldn't speed up and the gas engine wasn't starting or even cranking. After about 20 to 30 seconds to gas engine started and the car drove fine for about 15 miles then I went to slow down and the car speed up on it own and the adaptive cruise control was off. Then it drove fine for a few more miles then I stopped at a red light and then began to make a right turn and the car did the same as …

Horn has failed twice. The first time it was taken to the dealership and “fixed” - now it has failed again. The second issue is that the car accelerates on its own, both at a high and low rate of speed. While traveling at approximately 60 mph on multiple occasions, when the engine transitions from the electric motor to the gas engine, it will suddenly rapidly accelerate without any additional pressure on the gas pedal. While braking at a low rate of speed, the car seems to fight the brakes and will accelerate instead, propelling the car forward…

Sometimes when the cruise control is turned on the car starts the cruise setting at 110mph and then starts accelerating the vehicle to that speed. It does not allow the mph setting to be turned down using the controls on the steering wheel, the only way to take it out of the stuck 110 mph setting is by turning cruise control off or braking. This situation happens rarely but does occur with only the cruise control being turned on, without any further prompt. I have a video of the occurance but the website does not allow me to upload a video.

Sometimes, for no reason my car will not accelerate (no amount of pedal to the metal will help) and then when it does accelerate, it surges forward at random points and tries to overpower the brakes. This has happened multiple times and the dealer claims they have never heard of this happening. It could cause a serious accident when it happens. I have to find a place to pull off and shut down the car and restart it. This started happening around the 5k mile marker...and now I am almost at 12k.

My Hyundai Elantra hybrid has had the horn and front radar go out 3 times. It will eventually start working again. Heavy rain or snow will disable the front radar and then it won’t go away for a while. When the front radar is out, I cannot use cruise control. It is disabled. I feel adaptive cruise control is much safer and cruise control in general. Apparently many people have similar issues. The horn not working often is also a huge concern. I am concerned I cannot rely on my car.

The last one was hybrid system - safely stop. The car then immediately lost all acceleration power leaving us coasting. This all happened within a few seconds. Terrifying. Luckily we had space to get over quickly. 30 miles sooner we would have been in downtown Jacksonville with no place to maneuver. Extremely dangerous. A few seconds war…

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Horn has failed twice. The first time it was taken to the dealership and “fixed” - now it has failed again. The second issue is that the car accelerates on its own, both at a high and low rate of speed.

My hyundai elantra 2022 hybrid abruptly told me to pull over after driving on the highway for 30 minutes. The Hybrid Warning System light came up on dash and told me to pull over. After pulling over the car lost power and had to be jumped with the 12V battery reset button. Car is able to be driven again but will continue to have the same problem every 30 minutes unless the air conditioner and apple airplay or radio is off. I sent the car to Hyundai Dealership 7200 W Sahara Ave, Las Vegas, NV 89117 since [XXX] and the service technician did not …

The vehicle, which is under warranty, has shut itself off three times with an error message regarding the hybrid system. After having the vehicle towed to the dealership, they found no codes, errors, or messages to address. As a result, they won’t proceed further with troubleshooting and told me to address Hyundai directly. This is a significant safety hazard.

The 2022 Hyundai Elantra Hybrid Blue intermittently displays Check Hybrid System Stop Safety in instrument cluster screen, which stops the car from driving in either smart or normal. This happens on the roads and highways. This is very unsafe because at high speed when this happens you could easily get rear-ended because the car drops its speed and cannot accelerate any faster than 30 miles per hour and then it degrades to 20 miles per hour until I can find a safe place to park and turn off the car to do the reset to be able to drive again. Th…

I was driving down a highway at around 60 MPH with no one around me. As a car started to pass me on the left, my Elantra started sharply turning to the left and stopping. The dash started beeping with emergency braking lit up. The system activated on its own for no reason.

The vehicle has not yet been inspected concerning this issue. There were no war…

When driving the vehicle for more than 10 minutes, the dash will display " Check hybrid system. Stop safely" the vehicle will completely stall and will not allow you accelerate forcing you to pull over, turn the vehicle off and reset the 12v battery. 2022 Hyundai Elantra Hybrid Limited with 25000 was fine when I drove home from work. An hour or two later, got in vehicle which then shuddered and died. Manufacturer deflected blame to avoid performing repair under warranty but needed a new alternator. Car went into limp mode and just would not start once engine cylinders misfired (all cylinders misfired!). This issue after they refused to repair or tow, deemed it safe but almost wrecked due to it dying when driving off the lot assured there was no issue.
