Owner report 11469104 · 2022-06-14 (June 14, 2022)

While my wife and I were driving on the interstate, all dashboard warning lights came on at once, and the car began rumbling at regular intervals as it tried and failed to switch from electric vehicle (EV) mode to hybrid EV (HEV) mode, and the engine wouldn't start. At the same time, the power steering stopped working, the car struggled to go more than 40 MPH, and it started accelerating on its own and would not stop until I hit the brake. Each time the engine tried and failed to start, the car started accelerating again. I pulled off at a gas …

When the engine is turned off, and the car is not in park, it rolls. When the engine is turned off the car should automatically switch to P to prevent it from rolling. Our car was left in R with the engine off. And instead of switching to P automatically, it just rolled away and hit the neighbors garage.

Installing a car seat and the belt buckle failed. The plastic part split and no longer holds the belt together. This was under regular pressure with standard leverage that the car seat design calls for. Nothing was ever on top of the buckle and it is not damaged in any other way at all other than the failure. They refused to replace it via warranty.

When the engine is turned off, and the car is not in park, it rolls. When the engine is turned off the car should automatically switch to P to prevent it from rolling. Our car was left in R with the engine off. And instead of switching to P automatically, it just rolled away and hit the neighbors garage.

Following a 12V auxiliary battery replacement at Dick's Hillsboro Hyundai [XXX] , April 3, 2026), the battery hold-down bracket was left completely unsecured. The retaining bolts were absent, (later found loose in the cargo tray area). The battery terminal cover was also improperly secured. I returned to the dealership within twenty minutes of collecting my vehicle and described the condition directly to Service Manager Robin Farr, who assured me it would be corrected. It was not. On April 6, 2026, Withnell Hyundai in Salem, OR (RO# XXX/X) i…

I am writing to dispute the denial of my paint defect warranty claim formally and to demand that Hyundai Motor America reconsider its decision. My 2018 Hyundai Ioniq (Silver, VIN: [XXX] ) is exhibiting significant paint bubbling , the identical defect that Hyundai has already acknowledged and accepted responsibility for in white-painted vehicles across multiple model years.

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.

It didn't help to press down the gas pedal. I was forced to switch from the middle lane to the passing lane in order to reach the shoulder. The car was side swept by another car in the passing lane because it was at low speed. Once it reached on the shoulder it stopped completely.
