4 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.
16V527000 · Hybrid Propulsion System
Reported: 2016-07-12 (July 12, 2016) · Model years: 2012, 2013
Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain model year 2012-2013 Infiniti M35 Hybrid vehicles manufactured March 23, 2010, to September 9, 2013. A system overheat condition may cause the hybrid powertrain control module to shut off the engine.
Consequence: If the engine shuts off while driving, there is an increased risk of a crash.
Remedy: Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the hybrid control module, automatic transmission control unit, and inverter software, free of charge. The recall began on August 15, 2016. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-647-7261.
Reported: 2020-12-07 (December 7, 2020) · Model years: 2012, 2013
Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2011-2013 Infiniti M56, 2012-2013 M35 Hybrid, and 2014 Q70 and Q70 Hybrid vehicles. These models, equipped with 2WD and with a hybrid or VK56 powertrain, have a driveshaft that may break.
Consequence: A broken driveshaft can cause a loss of propulsion, increasing the risk of a crash, or may disable the parking brake, increasing the risk of a rollaway and injury.
Remedy: Infiniti will notify owners, and dealers will replace the driveshaft, free of charge. The recall began February 5, 2021. Owners may contact Infiniti customer service at 1-800-662-6200.
Reported: 2024-06-21 (June 21, 2024) · Model years: 2012, 2013
Nissan North America, Inc. (INFINITI) is recalling certain 2011-2013 M56, 2012-2013 M35 Hybrid, 2014-2018 Q50, Q70 Hybrid, 2014-2019 Q70, and 2015-2019 Q70L two-wheel drive vehicles. The driveshaft can fatigue and break.
Consequence: A broken driveshaft can result in a loss of drive power, or a vehicle roll away when the vehicle is in park without the parking brake applied. Both scenarios can increase the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Dealers will replace the driveshaft, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed August 13, 2024. Owners may contact INFINITI's customer service at 1-800-662-6200. INFINITI's numbers for this recall are R24A5 and R24A7.

Reported: 2014-09-22 (September 22, 2014) · Model years: 2013, 2014
Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain model year 2013-2014 Infiniti M35 hybrid vehicles manufactured April 7, 2012, to September 9, 2013, 2014 Infiniti Q50 hybrid vehicles manufactured December 10, 2012, to July 15, 2014, and 2014-2015 Infiniti Q70 hybrid vehicles manufactured April 9, 2010, to May 7, 2014. Due to a software error, In the affected vehicles, if the signal is lost from one of the two throttle position sensors (TPS), the engine control module (ECM) will go into a fail-safe mode, partially closing the throttle chamber. Should the lost signal be restored, the throttle chamber may open, regardless of the position signal from the TPS.
Consequence: The vehicle may gradually accelerate due to the throttle chamber reopening. This unexpected acceleration may increase the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the ECM, free of charge. The recall began on November 10, 2014. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-647-7261.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 INFINITI M35 HYBRID. WHILE IDLING AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE ONLY WAY TO RESTART THE VEHICLE WAS BY SHIFTING INTO PARK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE INTELLIGENT POWER DISTRIBUTION MODULE (IPDM) NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 119,170.
MY CAR WAS ISSUED A RECALL NUMBER 16V-527 IN JULY. AFTER MY CAR WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER AFTER IT SUDDENLY STOPPED WHILE DRIVING ON THE FWY DUE TO THE HYBRID SYSTEM. THE DEALER SAID THAT THEY COULD NOT COMPLETE THE RECALL WORK DUE TO THE LACK OF PARTS, EVEN THOUGH THE RECALL APPEARS TO RELATE DIRECTLY TO THE PROBLEM I AM HAVING WITH THE CAR. THE CAR WAS IN MTION ON THE FWY WHEN THE ENGINE SUDDENLY STOPPED DUE TO A HYBRID MOTOR ISSUE.
IT ALL STARTED WITH A SMALL VIBRATION THAT FELT LIKE A WHEEL NEEDING BALANCING. THIS SYSTEM HAPPEN INTERMITTENTLY AND FOR SHORT DURATIONS OVER THE COURSE OF A COUPLE OF WEEKS. THEN THE VIBRATION STARTED TO HAPPEN MORE OFTEN, FOR LONGER PERIODS OF TIME AND WITH MORE INTENSITY SUCH TO BECOME A SHUTTERING THAT WAS COMING FROM THE FRONT OF THE CAR. WHEN THE SHUTTERING SUDDENLY BECAME VERY SEVERE, THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. AT THIS TIME I WAS DRIVING ON A BUSY HIGHWAY GOING APPROXIMATELY 45 TO 50 MPH. I MANAGED TO PULLED THE CAR TO THE …
ON MARCH 4, 2019 WHILE DRIVING THROUGH JEFFERSON CITY DOING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH I HEARD AND FELT A LOUD EXPLOSION. I PULLED OVER TO INSPECT THE CAR ONLY TO FIND MY SUNROOF HAD EXPLODED. A LARGE HOLE WAS IN THE SUNROOF WITH GLASS DEBRIS ON THE OOF. LUCKILY THE EXPLOSION WAS OUTWARD AND NOT INWARD INTO THE CAR. I TOOK PICTURES WHICH SHOWS THE DAMAGE AND THE GLASS THAT WAS LEFT ON THE ROOF. I SUSPECT THE REMAINING GLASS BLEW UP AND TOWARD THE BACK OF THE CAR.

Emerging complaint spikes
Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.
This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.
No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.
