Owner report 11467768 · 2022-06-06 (June 6, 2022)

After filling our motorhome with fuel and driving on a trip, we noticed a check engine light that came on. I noticed a smell of gas but couldn’t pin point where it was coming from at that time. We ordered a code reader and it showed a large EVAP leak code which seemed to be there for a while but looked like it was cleared previously. Could still smell gas, so husband went under motorhome and smell got worse. Saw fuel leaking from filler hose that goes into fuel tank and no clamps in this particular area that was leaking fuel.

Wipers not working and no replacement part made anymore. My wiper relay module went bad and the wipers are not working. I contacted Jayco and was told to order a aftermarket harness and modify it. No servicing dealer will do this for me, making the rv a unsafe to drive in rain conditions. This is a big issue that I can't imagine I'm the only one with this issue. They had a recall on later models for a similar issue.

WHEN TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEED'WITH THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS ON HIGH SPEED, THE DRIVER SIDE WIPER BLADE AN ARM LIFT AWAY FROM THE WINDSHIELD, SLAMMING BACK DOWN WHEN IT REACHES THE FAR LEFT END OF ITS TRAVEL. THIS COMPLAINT IS IN REFERENCE TO THE DRIVER'S SIDE WINDSHIELD WIPER. DURING HIGHWAY USE IN THE RAIN THE WINDSHIELD WIPER AND ARM MALFUNCTIONS AND SWINGS TOO FAR TO THE LEFT ACTUALLY LEAVING THE WINDSHIELD AND WRAPPING AROUND THE LEFT DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW. THE WIPER THEN SLAMS AGAINST THE LEFT SIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD AS IT ACTUATES BACK TO THE RIGHT CAUSING SCRATCHES AND DAMAGE TO THE WINDSHIELD AND THE WIPER ARM TO BOUNCE ACROSS THE WINDOW AND NOT WIPE THE RAIN AWAY FROM THE WINDSHIELD. THIS REDUCES VISIBILITY TO ALMOST ZERO AND CREATES A VE…

I purchased this 2026 Jayco Precept 34G Class A motorhome new in May 2026. The heat shield on the floor of the passenger side is missing near the exhaust manifold. The shield cable for the batteries and other wiring has melted and shorted some wires. The heat was so hot that it melted the plastic storage compartment also and exposed the vehicle to exhaust gases and heat. This is an extreme safety hazard as the vehicle could catch on fire. I am scared to drive the vehicle.

Gears in steering gear box must be "sloppy". Constantly needing to correct to drive a straight line down the road. I have gone to "Safety Plus Steering Control" and had them install the proper Control arm, thinking this would solve the problem. It has not. The constant correcting of the steering going down the road is tiring. I believe the gearbox is the problem. This has been a problem ever since I bought it new in 2020, and is getting worse. I purchased this 2026 Jayco Precept 34G Class A motorhome new in May 2026. During the first approximately 1,000 miles, it exhibited severe steering/handling instability requiring constant correction at highway speeds. As a first-time Class A owner, I initially thought this might be normal and continued operating it with family aboard. On XXX, a Ford commercial service center inspected the motorhome and documented missing steering-stabilizer hardware, specifically a missing nut, and a bent stabilizer shock. The service center photographed the de…

The contact owns a 2022 Jayco Precept RV built on a 2022 Ford F-53 chassis. The contact stated that while her husband was driving 60 MPH, the roller shade located above the windshield unraveled. Due to the failure, her husband's visibility became completely obstructed and he was unable to see anything in front of the RV. The contact and assisted her husband with the roller shade to prevent a potential crash. The contact's husband was able to pull over to the side of the road and used duct tape to secure the roller shade. The manufacturer was no…

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.

[XXX] we were camping in Maryland. I attempted to exit the motorhome through the only exit door. When I turned the door handle to open the door the handle fell off. We were not able to exit the motorhome. I called the RV Office and they sent over a maintenance man who had to open the door from the outside. The back end of the handle fell off the handle. The handle is made from aluminum and the end is rolled over there is a snap ring in a groove as cell. The snap ring groove apparently wore out which caused the whole device to fall apart. This …

Ever since it was purchased new in 2021, the RV leans excessively to the passenger side even when it is unloaded and not moving. The dealer stated this is normal due to the weight distribution of the interior components. I recently noticed there are signs of the passenger side inner rear tire rubbing on a piece of chassis sheet metal, where the clearance is less than 1" on the passenger side. The same area on the driver side appears normal, with ample clearance (approximately 3-4") and no signs of tire rubbing. I am concerned about the rubb…
