Owner report 11726598 · 2026-03-24 (March 24, 2026)

My vehicle, a 2023 Lexus RZ 450e, has been out of service for over 30 days due to an unresolved HVAC system failure affecting cabin heating. The issue significantly impacts the safe operation of the vehicle, particularly in cold weather conditions where adequate heat is necessary for driver visibility and occupant safety. Despite the vehicle remaining under the manufacturer’s warranty, the dealership has been unable to provide a diagnosis completion or estimated time of repair. The vehicle was brought in for service on February 20, 2026, and h…

My 2023 Lexus RZ450e experienced a sudden failure of the 12-volt battery, which completely disabled the vehicle and prevented it from starting. The battery failed while the car was plugged into a Level 2 home charger, but not in ‘Ready’ mode. There were no warning signs or alerts, and I had to call roadside assistance to jump-start the car. After the incident, I brought the vehicle to the dealership. They tested the 12V battery and said it was “fine.” However, during the 100,000-mile maintenance, I specifically requested a battery re-check, a…

While driving slowly in a parking lot and without striking any object, my 2023 Lexus RZ 450e experienced a catastrophic front right suspension failure. The suspension failure caused separation of the CV axle, detachment of the front right wheel assembly, and an immediate loss of steering control. The vehicle became inoperable and required towing. Fortunately, this occurred at low speed and no injuries occurred. The vehicle became inoperable and required towing. No injuries occurred due to the low speed at the time.

Beginning in September 2025, I experienced respiratory symptoms, including coughing, chest discomfort, and shortness of breath, that appeared to be triggered when entering or operating my vehicle. The symptoms consistently improved when I was not using the vehicle and returned upon re-exposure. The specific component responsible is UNKNOWN. I suspect a possible cabin air quality, HVAC, or material-related issue, but I am not able to identify a specific failed part. My safety was put at risk because symptoms occurred while driving, including d…

This a new 2026 electric car with an~80% charge in the traction battery. Unfortunately the 12 V battery failed after I got into the car and closed the car door. Nothing on the car worked including the door locks leaving me trapped. Fortunately I had my phone with me so I could call for assistance. I shudder to think if I had not or if my grand kids had been playing in the car while we weren’t around. . In talking to Lexus roadside assistance something similar had occurred in south Florida that required a 911 call to save the guy inside. T…

Incident one: I was locked out of my car and needed to call Lexus roadside assistance for help. The technician struggled with the mechanical override to open the car, but was able to force it eventually. He explained the 12V battery was dead. There was nothing left on that would have drained the battery. Incident two: The following week, I was able to enter the vehicle and turn it partially on but was not able to drive the car and after I turned off the power, I was trapped in the vehicle. Lexus roadside assistance came again and jump-sta…

Went to my car on Saturday @630p to put items in my car for church the next morning. I couldn't get into my car and my car wasn't responding to my key fobs. I called the Lexus service and was closed. I got on my app and called roadside service. As I was walking (pacing) in my garage, I noticed my rear passenger tire was flat! I asked the AAA rep about my tire. He said no replacement was in my car and the tire isn't inflated with air, but foam. Additionally, he noted me not driving the car may have drained my battery. Which was about 73% last I…

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.

While operating my 2025 Lexus RZ 300e at normal road speeds, the vehicle experienced a sudden and dangerous propulsion loss when the traction battery reached 0% state of charge. The only advance notice was a single soft audible alert. There were no escalating warnings (visual or audible) and no meaningful low-battery reserve to allow the driver to safely exit traffic or reach a charging location. Within seconds of the single alert, the vehicle entered reduced-power “limp mode,” creating an immediate traffic hazard. This abrupt reduction in spe…

When the passenger side radiant heat is on, it makes a toxic smell that smells like plastic or glue melting. It has happened in our RZ and also in a loaner RZ (VIN [XXX] ). Lexus has done nothing that we are aware of to ensure that this smell is not affecting passenger side airbags or the integrity of the cars. They’re also hiding in their notes that they have experienced the smell.
