I JUST RECEIVED A NOTICE FROM BRIDGESTONE FIRESTONE ON A TIRE RECALL FROM YEARS AGO. I BOUGHT A NEW MAZDA NAVAJO IN 1993 AND IT HAD FIRESTONE ATX TIRES. THEY FAILED WAY BEFORE ANY RECALL SO I REPLACED THEM AT MY COST WITH THE SAME. THESE TIRES FAILED ALSO SO I REPLACED THEM WITH SOMETHING ELSE. 2 SETS (10 TIRES) AT MY COST. WHEN THE RECALL CAME OUT I GOT NOTHING. IN FACT, I DIDN'T EVEN OWN THE VEHICLE ANYMORE. MY COMPLAINT IS...WHEN IT TAKES SO LONG TO IDENTIFY A PROBLEM, WHAT ABOUT THE PEOPLE WHO HAD PROBLEMS BEFORE THE RECALL? THEY CA…
WHILE DRIVING AT 25 MPH, THE SUNROOF OF THE VEHICLE WAS BLOWN OFF BY THE WIND. THE SUNROOF TILTS UP AT THE REAR AND THE DEALER CAN NOT EXPLAIN HOW THE ROOF COULD BE LOST. THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS PART, BUT THE CONSUMER'S VIN IS NOT INCLUDED. *PH
DUE TO THE CONTROL ARM AND THE BUSHING FAILURE THE VEHICLE SHAKES. *AK CONSUMER STATES THE FRONT END OF VEHICLE MAKES A NOISE AND DOES NOT STOP PORPERLY, TRANSMISSION MOUNTS CAUSE THE ENGINE TO MOVE FOWARD/BACKWARD WHILE STOPPING AND ACELERATION, CONSUMER ALSO HAD SHOCKS AND TRANSMISSION MOUNT REPLACED.*JB
WHILE DRIVING 70MPH RIGHT REAR PASSENGER FIRESTONE ATX TIRE BLEW OUT, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO LOSE CONTROL, AND GO UNDER A SEMI -TRAILER AND ROLL OVER. VEHICLE WAS A MAZDA NAVAJO. DOT # WIHLAT51561. *AK
THE VEHICLES TIRES EXPERIENCED MANY FAILURES PRIOR TO RECALL NOTICE, THE CONSUMER REQUESTED REIMBURSEMENT BUT WAS DENIED BECAUSE THE REPLACEMENT TIRES WERE PURCHASED PRIOR TO JANUARY 1, 2000 (FIRESTONE ATX P235/75R15). NLM
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE BECAME UNSTABLE AND DIFFICULT TO DRIVE, CONSUMER IMMEDIATELY SLOWED DOWN WITH GREAT DIFFICULTY, WAS ABLE TO PULL VEHICLE OVER TO THE SHOULDER, GOT OUT OF THE VEHICLE AND INSPECTED THE FIRESTONE WILDERNESS AT TIRES AND SAW THAT ONE OF THE TIRES HAD COME COMPLETLEY APART AND WAS IN SHREDS AROUND THE WHEEL, ALL 4 TIRES WERE REPLACED AND CONSUMER IS REQUESTING REIMBURSEMENT. *JB
WHILE DRIVING WITH CRUISE CONTROL ACTIVATED, THE SYSTEM WOULD NOT DISENGAGE, RESULTING IN THE RPM GAUGE RACING UP. CAUSE UNKNOWN. PLEASE GIVE ANY FURTHER DETAILS. *AK
CONSUMER TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER TO HAVE LIFTGATE BRACKET REPAIRED PER RECALL NOTICE 99V-310, DEALER REFUSED TO REPAIR BRACKET FREE OF CHARGE CLAIMING THAT THE RECALL NOTICE EXPIRED, AS A RESULT CONSUMER HAD THE BRACKET REPLACED BY ANOTHER COMPANY, HOWEVER SINCE THE ORIGINAL BRACKET BROKE THE TAILGATE DOES NOT CLOSE COMPLETELY, THIS IS ALLOWING EXHAUST FUMES TO ENTER THE VEHICLE. Emerging complaint spikes
Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.
This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.
No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

CONSUMER CONTACTED DEALER IN REFERENCE TO NHTSA RECALL 94V169000/ MANUFACTURER'S RECALL 94S91 CONCERNING EMERGENCY PARKING BRAKE: MECHANICAL. PARKING BRAKE FAILS SO THAT IT WILL NOT ENGAGE. DEALER PUTS "WEDGE" IN MECHANISM TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM, BUT THE WEDGE DOES NOT LAST-- IT BREAKS AND FALLS OUT. MAZDA CLAIMS THAT THERE IS NOTHING ELSE THAT THEY CAN DO TO FIX THE PROBLEM SINCE THIS IS WHAT NHTSA HAS INSTRUCTED THEM TO DO. *AK.ET.
