ENGINE WIRING HARNESS PART# [phone removed]. THIS HARNESS HAS COMPLETELY DETERIORATED CAUSING THE ENGINE TO BE INOPERABLE. AFTER MONTHS OF RESEARCH ONLINE AND PHONE CALLS TO MB I HAVE NO PARTS AND NO ANSWERS TO THE PROBLEM. SO MANY OF THESE CARS HAVE HAD THESE PROBLEMS AND YET NO RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED. WHY? IT IS A FIRE WAITING TO HAPPEN. THERE ARE MANY HARNESS AVAILABLE FOR VARIOUS MODELS WITH THE INFAMOUS "BIODEGRADABLE" WIRING PROBLEM. THERE ARE MANY DIFFERENT PRICE RANGES ALSO, BUT THEY ARE AVAILABLE. AS FOR THE ONE THAT I NEED IT IS…

I TOOK THE CAR TO A LOCAL IMPORT CAR/MERCEDES SERVICE CENTER TO HAVE IT CHECKED OVER. THE MECHANIC POINTED OUT THAT THE MAIN ENGINE WIRING HARNESS AND THE GLOW PLUG WIRING HARNESS HAD SERIOUS PROBLEMS. THE WIRES HAD SERIOUS CRACKS AND MUCH OF THE INSULATION WAS MISSING. I WAS INFORMED THAT UNLESS THESE WIRING HARNESSES WERE REPLACED THERE WOULD BE SERIOUS PROBLEMS. I REPLACED BOTH SETS OF WIRES. THERE IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM WITH THE …
WIRES UNDER THE HOOD IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT ARE CRACKED (THE WIRE INSULLATION). THE INSULATION FOR EACH INDIVIDUAL WIRE IS CRACKED (OWNER CAN SEE THE COPPER WIRE) THE DEALER HAS BEEN NOTIFIED. *AK

I PURCHASED A 1993 MERCEDES BENZ-300SD THROUGH A LOCAL BUSINESS MAN IN COLUMBIA, SC WHO HAD THE CAR ON LEASE. I PAID THE LEASING COMPANY, MERCEDES CORPORATION FOR THE CAR. THIS CAR HAD TO HAVE A NEW MOTOR AT 46,000 MILES. I AM NOW TOLD THAT I MIGHT HAVE TO HAVE ANOTHER MOTOR. I HAVE HAD TO REPACE THE MOTOR FOR THE FAN THAT RUNS THE AIR/HEAT; REPLACE UNITS THAT CONTROLS THE FACTORY INSTALLED TELEPHONE AND NOW AM BEING TOLD THAT THE NEW MOTOR WILL COST FROM $10,000 TO $12,000. I AM HAVING PROVLEMS KEEPING FREON IN THE AIR CONDITIONER AND HAV…

Emerging complaint spikes
Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.
This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.
No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.
Equal-age model-year comparison
