Recall history

4 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.

19V588000 · Suspension:Rear:Springs:Leaf Spring Assembly:Shackle

Reported: 2019-08-12 (August 12, 2019) · Model years: 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019

Vanleigh RV (Vanleigh) is recalling certain 2015-2019 Vilano and Beacon fifth wheel recreational trailers. The suspension shackles may be too short, causing them to fail.

Consequence: Failure of the suspension shackle may cause a loss of control, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Vanleigh will notify owners, and dealers will replace the existing shackles with longer ones, free of charge. The recall began August 30, 2019. Owners may contact Vanleigh customer service at 1-662-612-4040.

21V355000 · Equipment:Recreational Vehicle/Trailer:Lpg Systems:Water Heater

Reported: 2021-05-14 (May 14, 2021) · Model years: 2019, 2020, 2021

VanLeigh RV (VanLeigh) is recalling certain 2019-2021 Beacon and 2019-2022 Vilano coaches. The water heater housing may not have been properly sealed, allowing gas to enter the coach.

Consequence: Gas inside the coach increases the risk of a fire.

Remedy: Dealers will install a grommet ensuring the sleeve is facing out and use zip-ties to secure the sleeves to the gas line, free of charge. Owner letters were mailed July 9, 2021. Owners may contact VanLeigh customer service at 1-662-612-4040.

21V490000 · Structure:Emergency:Escape/Egress/Exit

Reported: 2021-06-29 (June 29, 2021) · Model years: 2021, 2022

VanLeigh RV (VanLeigh) is recalling certain 2021-2022 Vanleigh Beacon recreational vehicles. Interference from the rear ladder can prevent the rear egress window from fully opening.

Consequence: In an emergency, the rear egress window cannot be used as an exit, increasing the risk of injury.

Remedy: Dealers will replace the egress window, free of charge. Owner letters were mailed on August 12, 2021. Owners may contact VanLeigh customer service at 1-662-612-4040.

22V555000 · Equipment:Recreational Vehicle/Trailer

Reported: 2022-07-29 (July 29, 2022) · Model years: 2022

VLRV, LLC (Vanleigh RV) is recalling certain 2022 Beacon and Vilano travel trailers. The electric retractable awning has a welded seam on the fabric that may separate, potentially allowing the awning to drop beyond normal operation.

Consequence: An awning that drops or extends beyond normal operation can increase the risk of injury.

Remedy: Dealers will inspect, and if necessary replace the awning, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed September 18, 2022. Owners may contact Vanleigh RV customer service at 1-662-612-4040. Vanleigh RV's number for this recall is VL-105.

While travelling on an interstate freeway, towing our 40 foot 5th wheel RV at 63 mph, our trailer lost its front drivers' side wheel & tire. Upon realizing something was wrong and stopping to investigate, I recognized the wheel spindle had separated from the axle at the welding point, which allowed the wheel, bearings, disc brake assembly and tire to separate from the axle. The wheel, tire & all other parts were not found. An incident report was filed with the state police, who responded and assisted in attempting to locate the lost wheel & tir…

The frame of my 2021 Vanleigh Beacon 39FFB fifth wheel trailer has experienced a catastrophic structural failure in the primary load-bearing area near the king pin. The frame has fractured on both sides between the king pin structure and upper deck riser in a non-welded section of the frame. This failure has allowed the king pin to displace upward more than 2 inches into the front structure of the RV. There are several issues with my Vanleigh RV that I believe warrant investigation and recall. The main structural element I believe common with all my problems is the under-designed frame in its entirety. I have had to have the rear portion of my frame strengthened by the frame manufacturer (Lippert) due to it going out of camber. This has caused numerous slide operation problems as well as continual floor damage inside the RV. There is also too much flex in the front portion of the frame causing continuous body damage. I applied the Vanleigh …

My Vanliegh Beacon 39GBB Fram broke near the 5th wheel hitch causing large body undulations while towing. The frame cracked along a longitudinal beam along to forward section connecting the main body and the over the bed area. This caused major fiberglass damage and an unsafe situation where only one side of the frame was still connected to the 5th wheel hitch. I witnessed the Lippert frame manufacturer's rep review the damage and he engineered a "fix" to be done at the Vanliegh repair facility in Tischamingo, MS in 2021. The next road trip…

The front frame of the RV has failed, welds are cracked. The unit can be inspected. The frame welds hold the walls on to the RV. The frame is the major structural component that could lead to wall collapse. Symptoms of the cracks are evident only when towing, meaning failure on the highway. Problem has been confirmed by and independent repair facility. Manufacturer is aware, but has not inspected. They don't want to inspect because this is an industry wide problem. Frame failure becomes evident when hitching up and towing the RV. Side wall fl…

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

I purchased this vehicle new July 14, 2022. On its first trip, I noticed a gap starting on the side panels near the overhang of the 5th wheel. I reported this to the dealer and they determined that there was excessive flame flex. The vehicle had to be taken back to the manufacturer to be repaired. I’m still having issues with frame flex. This 5th wheel weighs 18,500 pounds and the fact that there is broken components to the frame put all of us at risk of great bodily harm or death. This is an issue in the RV 5th wheel industry that needs to be …

This is my second report with two different incidents of failure. These failures are connected to the Lippert frame of my fifth wheel trailer. While, traveling in Indiana near Gary, Indiana my leafspring on the rear axle on the driver side gave away, causing the trailer to veer hard to the left. Fortunately, there was no one to my left and I was able to regain control and get to the shoulder. After inspecting, I determined that the pin holding the leaf springs together sheared off after going over a bridge expansion joint. The second issue I d…

Additional structural damage includes: -Shearing of a structural fastener/bolt -Visible separation and movement of frame members under hitch l…
