Recall history

1 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.

23V247000 · Electrical System:Wiring

Reported: 2023-04-06 (April 6, 2023)

General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2003-2023 Chevrolet Express Cutaway and GMC Savana Cutaway incomplete vehicles equipped with wiring for an optional rear heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC) system. When the HVAC blower motor circuit is left unused with exposed connectors and wiring, the circuit can corrode and overheat.

Consequence: An overheated electrical circuit increases the risk of a fire.

Remedy: Dealers will properly seal the rear HVAC blower motor circuits at the left side B-pillar, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed May 2, 2023. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GMC's number for this recall is N222386050.

While driving at highway speed, the factory-installed serpentine belt on my 2023 Chevrolet Express 3500 (6.6L V8, approximately 24,000 miles, purchased new, factory-maintained per schedule) failed suddenly and without warning. The belt on this engine drives the water pump and other critical accessories, so the failure caused immediate loss of engine cooling and rapid, severe overheating while the vehicle was in motion in traffic. It also lost power steering assist, making the vehicle significantly harder to control at highway speed. The Vehicle…

Vehicle is upfitted as a school bus. Forward fuel tank strap failed in operation. Our company operates more than 100 of these vehicles and we experience a failure of fuel tank straps at a rate of about one vehicle per month. If the 2nd strap would also fail the gasoline tank would become dislodged and present a fire hazard. This is even more critical as these vehicles are carrying students as a school bus. We perform visual inspections of the straps at 6 month intervals (per Pennsylvania these vehicles are subject to Semi-Annual State Inspecti…

A safety recall has been issued for my 2019 Coachmen Leprechaun motorhome (VIN: [XXX] ) built on a GM chassis. The recalled component/system is the subject of an active manufacturer recall; the vehicle is available for inspection upon request. I have attempted multiple times to complete the recall repair through General Motors. However, there is no Chevrolet/GM dealership within approximately 2.5 hours of our location in [XXX] that has the lift capacity required to service this motorhome. GM representatives confirmed that the repair must be co…

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison
