Recall history

4 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.

20V295000 · Equipment:Other:Labels | Tires

Reported: 2020-05-21 (May 21, 2020)

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer vehicles factory-equipped with optional 17-inch sport terrain tires. The certification label on these vehicles does not provide the tire size and cold tire pressure information for front and rear tires, as required. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard Number 110, "Tire Selection and Rims."

Consequence: If drivers are uninformed and overinflate or underinflate their tires, this may increase the risk of a crash.

Remedy: GM will notify owners, and will mail corrected labels for customers to apply, free of charge. The recall began July 1, 2020. Owners may call Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020. GM's number for this recall is A202304070.

Reported: 2020-09-03 (September 3, 2020)

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2020 Buick Encore GX and 2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer vehicles. The rear attachment bolts of one or both front seats may not have been installed.

Consequence: If an occupied front seat is missing the rear attachment bolts, it may move during a crash, increasing risk of injury to the occupant.

Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will inspect seat attachments for both front seats and install attachment bolts as needed, free of charge. The recall began October 1, 2020. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-630-2438 or Buick customer service at 1-800-521-7300. GM's number for this recall is A202304380.

Reported: 2020-09-24 (September 24, 2020)

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2020 Chevrolet Corvette and Cadillac CT4, CT5 and XT4, 2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer, and 2020-2021 Buick Encore GX vehicles. Sensor connection contamination in the electronic brake boost system may cause an interruption of communication between the sensor and the brake boost system.

Consequence: If communication with the sensor is interrupted, the electronic brake boost assist could be lost. Extra pedal force will be required to slow and stop the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the electronic brake boost module, free of charge. The recall began December 9, 2020. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-630-2438, Cadillac customer service at 1-800-333-4223, or Buick customer service at 1-800-521-7300. GM's number for this recall is A202307260.

Reported: 2021-06-10 (June 10, 2021)

General Motors, LLC. (GM) is recalling certain 2020-2022 Buick Encore GX and 2021-2022 Chevrolet Trailblazer vehicles. The emergency jack, if not positioned as directed in the vehicle owner's manual, can fracture while in use.

Consequence: A fractured jack can cause the vehicle to collapse, increasing the risk of injury.

Remedy: Dealers will replace the jack, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters informing owner of the safety risk are expected to be mailed July 26, 2021. A second notice will be mailed once remedy parts become available. Owners may contact Buick customer service at 1-800-521-7300 or Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020. Within 3 months of owning the vehicle I started to hear a crackling sound coming from the passenger speaker in the door. At first it was loud and I thought someone hit me. WHEN YOU SHIFT TO PARK A MESSAGE COMES UP AND SAYS SHIFT TOPARK WHEN IT IS ALREADY IN PARK. THE MAIN PROBLEM IS THE VEHICHCLE WILL NOT SHUT OFF. YOU HAVE TO DO MANY DIFFERANT THINGS TO TRY TO GET THE MESSAGE TO LEAVE AND THEN IT WILL CUT OFF. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING NOW SINCE IT HIT 29700 MILES AND DOES IT ALMOST EVERYTIME WE DRIVE IT NOW. THERE IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM HERE IF YOU CANT SHUT OFF THE VEHICLE . I ALSO NOTICED MANY OTHER PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE WITH THE TRAILBLAZERS. THIS NEEDS A RECALL FIX.

I now hear another exhaust leak, and I’m preparing for a hefty car travel and have to deal with trying to get it fixed in 10 days time. My 2021 Chevy Trailblazer has an error reading “shift to Park” that randomly appeared 2 weeks ago, now is doing it almost every time I stop my car, error has also cause my battery to die. When error is showing my car will not shut off. Took to a Chevy dealer and recommended changing the gear shift assembly, can’t guarantee it will fix the problem. They have ordered the part but $450 plus parts and labor for not a guarantee is concerning. I also travel for work and have been left stranded because of this issue.

There’s also an issue with the brakes, when you press on them, you can hear something grinding, which should not be happening because I bought the car brand new. Also the brakes have always been super squeaky, which is very frustrating because they should not be with a brand new car once again. THE BRAKES INCLUDING BRAKE ASSIST STOPPED WORKING. PRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL DID LITTLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THERE WAS RECALL FOR THIS SAME ISSUE THAT WAS PREFORMED BY THE DEALERSHIP 3 WEEKS AGO.

The ABS and stability control systems crash without warning. Randomly on a trip the check engine light randomly comes on without warning and immediately my break system stops being effective. I have to put full force on the brake pedal to start breaking the vehicle and coming to a stop becomes difficult. This puts my life as well as others at risk as I would not be able to break on time. The problem immediately goes away after turning the car off and turning it back on leading me to believe it’s simply a computer problem. The service provider …

I WAS DRIVING MY BRAND NEW 2021 TRAILBLAZER (ONLY 160 MILES) AND STEPPED ON THE BRAKE TO STOP AT THE END OF A STREET. SUDDENLY, I GOT ALERTS THAT MY BRAKE SYSTEM HAD FAILED AND RIGHT AFTER THAT, ANOTHER ONE, SAYING THAT THE POWER STEERING NEEDED TO BE SERVICED. AT THAT POINT, IT REQUIRED MUCH MORE PRESSURE ON THE BRAKE TO STOP, AND THE BRAKES DIDN'T SEEM VERY RESPONSIVE. LATER I SHUT OFF THE ENGINE, AND WHEN I STARTED IT AGAIN, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS STILL ON, BUT I THINK THE BRAKES WERE WORKING AGAIN. I'M NOT SURE BECAUSE I DIDN'T WANT TO …

While traveling down the road at approximatly 35-40 mph with my two minor children, the steering was not responding properly and the car kept attempting to veer to the right. I let off the gas to slow down since the brakes were also not seeming to respond well. Upon attempting to brake and execute a left hand turn, the car would not turn at all despite the steering wheel being as turned as far to the left as possible, the lights began flashing on the dashboard for "PowerSteering" ESC warning. We ended up going through the intersection withou…

Second time in dealership shop to get gas smell coming from engine. Vehicle still under warranty. Afraid of the vehicle catching fire on me. Took it into another repair shop and 2 technicians notice the strong gas odor and was afraid of working on it.

Very strong gas smells coming from under the hood. After driving a few miles, fumes enter the passenger compartment. Had to stop parking it in our garage for fear of a fire before I could get it into the dealer. I've been told it's a fuel leak associated with the fuel rail system. I'm 20 days past my warranty and only at 29,000 miles. It's a nearly $2000 fix. GM was aware of the problem in 2021 as there is a service bulletin for this item. I should have been notified in 2021 that there was a possible problem which could lead to a fire or…

I have had this vehicle at the garage for the 4th time in 2 months for the same issues. It would not start. the fuse box keeps blowing. The starter was replaced and the Alternator was replaced and the fuse box 3 times so far. It is in the auto repair shop now for the same issues. the mechanic has done an inspection and diagnostics and cant find what is wrong. There were no warning lights to warn me of anything. I have spent 4500+ so far in repairs and more to come.

When I put my car in Park, my car fails to detect it is in Park, leading to a persistent error message that tells me “Shift to Park”, inability to turn off the engine, and battery drain. I’ve had the car since Oct. 2020 and this car has been doing this since at least Oct. 2021.

The contact owns a 2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The contact stated that while driving approximately 40 MPH, the vehicle stalled. During the failure, several unknown warning lights illuminated, and the vehicle was jump-started. The Auto START/STOP function was disabled for the vehicle to operate properly. The vehicle was inspected by an independent mechanic; however, the failure could not be duplicated. The contact replaced the battery, and the failure was almost resolved. Additionally, while depressing the brake pedal, the vehicle failed to st…
