Recall history

3 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.

14V499000 · Equipment:Recreational Vehicle/Trailer:Lpg Systems

Reported: 2014-08-13 (August 13, 2014)

Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain model year 2012-2015 Coachmen 2150LE Prism motor homes manufactured July 2011 to May 2014. Due to the welds being in an improper location, the liquid propane (LP) tank support braces may not be secure, allowing the LP tank to drop and fall off the vehicle while in transit.

Consequence: If the LP tank drops or falls off the vehicle while in transit, there is an increased risk of fire or explosion.

Remedy: Forest River will notify owners, and dealers will install a repair kit, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin during October 2014. Owners may contact Coachmen customer service at 1-800-353-7383.

15V187000 · Structure:Body:Roof And Pillars

Reported: 2015-03-30 (March 30, 2015)

Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain model year 2015 Coachmen Prism recreational vehicles manufactured from July 1, 2014, through October 14, 2014 and built on Mercedes-Benz Sprinter chassis. In the affected vehicles, the abutting wedge, a component attached to the door jamb to make opening the door easier after a severe frontal impact, may have been installed incorrectly.

Consequence: If a vehicle that has an incorrectly installed abutting wedge is involved in a severe frontal crash, greater force may be necessary to open the doors, increasing the risk of injury.

Remedy: Sprinter will notify owners, and Sprinter dealers will check the installation of the abutting wedge, correcting it as necessary, free of charge. The recall began in March 2015. Owners may contact Forest River customer service at 1-574-642-0437. Forest River's number for this recall is 15V-082.

Reported: 2017-11-22 (November 22, 2017)

Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain 2003-2018 Forest River Berkshire, Charleston, Rockport, Cedar Creek, Cherokee, Riverstone, Salem, Sandpiper, Sierra, Vengeance, Wildcat, Wildwood, XLR Boost, Cargo Mate, Continental Cargo, motorhomes, recreational trailers, toyhaulers, cargo trailers and restroom trailers and 2009-2018 Coachmen Mirada, Pursuit, Concord, Leprechaun, Freelander, Orion and Prism motorhomes, 2009-2017 Coachmen Apex and Catalina recreational trailers, and 2013-2017 Shasta Oasis and Revere recreational trailers, equipped with Kidde Plastic-Handle or Push Button 'Pindicator' Fire Extinguishers. These extinguishers may become clogged, preventing the extinguisher from discharging as expected or excessive force may be needed to activate the extinguisher. Additionally, in certain models, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury and also render the product inoperable. For a full list of the affected fire extinguisher models visit: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2017/RMISC-17E062-5427.pdf

Consequence: In the event of a fire, if the fire extinguisher does not function properly, it can increase the risk of injury.

Remedy: Forest River will notify owners, instructing them to contact Kidde for a replacement fire extinguisher, free of charge. The recall began on December 27, 2017. Owners may contact Forest River customer service at 1-800-348-7440, or Kidde customer service toll free at 1-855-262-3540, or online at www.kidde.com and click on "Product Safety Recall" for more information. Forest River's number for this recall is 51-0544.

Inside the Coach is an entertainment center covered with hinging doors and a magnetic close. The first year we owned it the doors flew open while driving. In the process the left door broke off the hinge and fell on the seat. The second time it happened going over railroad tracks. This time the broken door fell on the seat and then on the floor. Normally my Jack Russell is in that seat. She could have been killed but the first time she was on the floor while still attached to the seat belt and the second time she was in the other seat with…

THE MERCEDES SPRINTER 3500 CHASSIS AND CHROME REAR OUTSIDE DUAL WHEELS DOES NOT HAVE EFFECTIVE ACCESS TO THE DUAL TIRES TO CHECK AND CHANGE THE AIR PRESSURE. THE LENGTH OF THE INNER TIRE VALVE STEM MAKES THE JOB OF REINSTALLING THE VALVE CAP VIRTUALLY IMPOSSIBLE WITHOUT REMOVAL OF THE OUTER CHROME DUAL WHEEL. THE OUTSIDE DUAL IS ALMOST AS DIFFICULT. Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.

Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.
