Recall history

8 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.

17V123000 · Air Bags:Frontal:Driver Side:Inflator Module

Reported: 2017-02-27 (February 27, 2017)

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2016-2017 Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX vehicles and 2017 Lincoln Continental vehicles. In the event of a crash, the driver's frontal air bag may not fully inflate or the air bag cushion may detach from the air bag module. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 208, "Occupant Crash Protection."

Consequence: During deployment, if the air bag does not fully inflate or the cushion detaches, there is an increased risk of injury in the event of a crash.

Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the driver frontal air bag module, free of charge. The recall began June 16, 2017. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 17C02.

These vehicles may have an improperly welded windshield header, reducing the vehicle's lateral structural integrity. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 214, "Side Impact Protection."

Consequence: If the vehicle has reduced lateral structural integrity, the occupants are at an increased risk of injury in the event of a side-impact crash.

Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will repair the windshield header, free of charge. The recall began May 18, 2017. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for the recall is 17C05.

20V469000 · Service Brakes | Service Brakes, Hydraulic:Foundation Components:Hoses, Lines/Piping, And Fittings

Reported: 2020-08-10 (August 10, 2020)

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2015-2018 Ford Edge and 2016-2018 Lincoln MKX vehicles. The front brake hoses may rupture prematurely.

Consequence: A ruptured front brake hose will cause a brake fluid leak, lengthening the distance needed to stop the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the front brake hoses with the new hoses that have a revised braid material, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on May 13, 2021. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 20S42.

22V413000 · Power Train:Shift Linkage/Cable/Rod | Power Train:Automatic Transmission:Gear Position Indication (Prndl)

Reported: 2022-06-10 (June 10, 2022)

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2013-2019 Escape, 2013-2018 C-Max, 2013-2016 Fusion, 2013-2021 Transit Connect, and 2015-2018 Edge vehicles. The bushing that attaches the shifter cable to the transmission may degrade or detach.

Consequence: A damaged or missing bushing may prevent the vehicle from shifting into the intended gear, and cause the vehicle to move in an unexpected direction. Additionally, the vehicle may roll after the driver selects the 'Park' position. Either scenario increases the risk of a crash or injury.

Remedy: Dealers will replace the under hood shift bushing and add a protective cap over the shift cable bushing, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters, informing owners of the safety risk, were mailed July 1, 2022. Remedy parts are expected to be available in 4th Quarter 2022. Owner notification letters were mailed October 27, 2022. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 22S43.

The rearview camera may display a distorted, inverted, or blank image when the vehicle is in reverse.

Consequence: A rearview camera that displays an inverted, distorted, or blank image can reduce the driver’s view behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Dealers will inspect and replace the rearview camera as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed January 13, 2026. Ford owners will receive letters in phases, beginning January 2026 and June 2026. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 25S89. The hands-free power lift gate was inadvertently activated while I was placing items into the back of the vehicle, and hit me in the back, and the back of my head. This happened three times. The dealer told me that Ford relocated the foot sensor farther towards the back of the vehicle following consumer complaints that it was too hard to active with your foot, as you had to extend your foot too far under the vehicle. This has now caused the lift gate to descend while you are loading/unloading cargo, without you intentionally activating it. …

There are approximately 78,000 miles on the car. Recently, a rough start caused the "check engine" light to come on. After taking it to a repair shop, the mechanic discovered there was coolant seeping into the #1 cylinder. Research confirmed that it was a known issue associated with a 'porous block' created during the casting process. Ford has known about this issue with the 2.0 In-line 4 eco-boost engine for over a decade and has not recalled the engine or offered to make any sort of restitution. Repair cost is estimated to be $8,000.

Engine coolant getting into cylinders with symptoms of coolant loss, white exhaust smoke, rough running engine, and engine light on. This leads to rapid loss of coolant. I need to refill the coolant at the end of each day of driving, creating a potential further engine damage and risk of fire. A Ford dealership inspected the vehicle and determined these facts to be the case. The repair they deemed necessary is a new long block -- on my vehicle of only 45,000 miles -- at a price of $8,500.

I bought a brand new Ford Edge in 2017 with a warranty of 5 years and 60,000 miles. Several weeks ago, my car turned the engine light on and began having difficulty staying on during idle time and at stop signs. Immediately, I took it to the dealer and they diagnosed the problem of a leakage of coolant into the cylinders. They quoted me for an amount greater than the trade in value of the vehicle. From my online research, other customers are having the same leakage recurrent issue for Ford Edges between 2016-2023. The dealer could not tell me …

We took our vehicle to the Ford dealership on 7/17/24 because it was misfiring and losing power while driving. The dealership informed us t…
