Recall history

7 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.

18V390000 · Power Train:Automatic Transmission:Torque Converter

Reported: 2018-06-11 (June 11, 2018)

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2017-2018 Ford Edge and 2017 Lincoln MKZ vehicles. On vehicles with 2.0L gas engines and six-speed automatic transmissions, the torque converter weld studs may have been inadequately welded.

Consequence: If the torque converter weld studs fail, the torque converter will not be connected to the engine flexplate and the vehicle will lose the ability to move, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the torque converters, free of charge. The recall began on July 5, 2018. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 17S16 (S2). Note: This recall is an expansion of recall 17V-427.

NHTSA campaign record ↗
18V548000 · Electrical System:Starter Assembly | Electrical System:Alternator/Generator/Regulator

Reported: 2018-08-20 (August 20, 2018)

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2018 Ford Edge, Lincoln MKX, 2019 Ford Flex, and Lincoln MKT vehicles. The power supply cables at the starter and the alternator may not have been properly secured, possibly resulting in an electrical arc.

Consequence: An electrical arc can increase the risk of a fire.

Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the alternator and starter motor power supply cables to verify that they are properly secured, correcting them as necessary, free of charge. The recall began September 26, 2018. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 18S25.

18V612000 · Latches/Locks/Linkages:Doors:Latch

Reported: 2018-09-11 (September 11, 2018)

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2018 Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX vehicles. These vehicles may have door striker bolts that are shorter than intended. Vehicles with shorter door striker bolts fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 206, "Door Locks and Door Retention Components" potentially resulting in the doors opening in the event of a crash.

Consequence: If the doors open in the event of a crash, there is an increased risk of injury.

Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the door striker bolts, free of charge. The recall began October 18, 2018. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 18C06.

20V469000 · Service Brakes | Service Brakes, Hydraulic:Foundation Components:Hoses, Lines/Piping, And Fittings

Reported: 2020-08-10 (August 10, 2020)

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2015-2018 Ford Edge and 2016-2018 Lincoln MKX vehicles. The front brake hoses may rupture prematurely.

Consequence: A ruptured front brake hose will cause a brake fluid leak, lengthening the distance needed to stop the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the front brake hoses with the new hoses that have a revised braid material, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on May 13, 2021. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 20S42.

22V413000 · Power Train:Shift Linkage/Cable/Rod | Power Train:Automatic Transmission:Gear Position Indication (Prndl)

Reported: 2022-06-10 (June 10, 2022)

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2013-2019 Escape, 2013-2018 C-Max, 2013-2016 Fusion, 2013-2021 Transit Connect, and 2015-2018 Edge vehicles. The bushing that attaches the shifter cable to the transmission may degrade or detach.

Consequence: A damaged or missing bushing may prevent the vehicle from shifting into the intended gear, and cause the vehicle to move in an unexpected direction. Additionally, the vehicle may roll after the driver selects the 'Park' position. Either scenario increases the risk of a crash or injury.

Remedy: Dealers will replace the under hood shift bushing and add a protective cap over the shift cable bushing, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters, informing owners of the safety risk, were mailed July 1, 2022. Remedy parts are expected to be available in 4th Quarter 2022. Owner notification letters were mailed October 27, 2022. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 22S43.

The rearview camera may display a distorted, inverted, or blank image when the vehicle is in reverse.

Consequence: A rearview camera that displays an inverted, distorted, or blank image can reduce the driver’s view behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Dealers will inspect and replace the rearview camera as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed January 13, 2026. This has now caused the lift gate to descend while you are loading/unloading cargo, without you intentionally activating it. …

Coolant leak into cylinder causing engine to misfire, caused by warped cylinder head. Chapman Ford and CarShop have inspected and confirmed this issue and have indicated it is a common, recurring issue with Ford engines. Ford issued a service bulletin about this specific problem in 2019. In August 2019, the engine light went on, “misfire in cylinder #2”.

The problem began in early August 2025 when the check engine light came on and the vehicle misfired. A Ford mobile technician inspected it before 8/23/25, confirmed Diagnostic Code P0303 (Cylinder 3 Misfire), but said it was likely just a bad ignition coil. Based on that, I went to Midas on 8/23/25 for a tune-up and coil check. On 9/29/25, the check engine light returned and for the first time the coolant over-temperature warning illuminated. Midas confirmed coolant intrusion into Cylinder 3: borescope and pressure test showed leakage, leak-dow…

My 2018 Ford Edge is equiped with Ecoboost engine and as a result all these problems are occurring: Ford failed to disclose that these vehicles have a defect that causes coolant to leak into the engine’s cylinders, which can cause corrosion, oil dilution and contamination, and engine failure; and failed to disclose these defects create a safety risk, because the lack of coolant created by the leaks causes overheating and can result in the cylinder head cracking, total engine failure, and/or engine fires. The check engine light came on while the vehicle was being driven during a vacation. This happened after the vehicle had a maintenance-required tune-up performed by the dealership on May 19, 2026. The vehicle was not having performance issues at the time, but I did not want to drive home with the check engine light on. The very next business day, I took the vehicle to the dealership for inspection. The dealership advised me that the vehicle had coolant intrusion involving cylinder 4 and that the engine would need to be replaced. Because this w…

BRAKES ARE TOO SENSITIVE (GRABBING) AT LOW SPEED, ESPECIALLY AFTER SITTING OVERNIGHT. A VERY SLIGHT TOUCH OF THE BRAKE PEDAL WILL CAUSE THE CAR TO IMMEDIATELY STOP AND ANYONE IN THE CAR WILL SLIDE FORWARD IN THEIR SEAT IF NOT OUT OF THE SEAT. THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH BOTH MYSELF AND MY WIFE DRIVING THE CAR. IF I DRIVE THE CAR AND STOMP ON THE BRAKES A FEW TIMES IT SEEMS TO GET A LITTLE BETTER.
