Reported: 2018-03-12 (March 12, 2018)

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2014-2018 Lincoln MKZ and Ford Fusion vehicles. The steering wheel retaining bolt may loosen allowing the steering wheel to detach while driving.

Consequence: A steering wheel detachment can cause a loss of steering control, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the steering wheel bolt with a longer bolt, free of charge. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 18S08.

OVER TIME THE VEHICLE DEVELOPED GRADUALLY MORE SLACKNESS AND FREE PLAY IN THE STEERING RESPONSE. I INITIALLY ATTRIBUTED THE CONDITION TO TIRE WEAR AND VEHICLE AGE. EVENTUALLY THE CONDITION BECAME SO SERIOUS THAT I WAS CERTAIN IT WAS NOT NORMAL, SO I DECIDED TO TRY AND DIAGNOSE THE CAUSE. UPON INVESTIGATION I DISCOVERED THAT THE STEERING RACK ASSEMBLY WAS MOVING AROUND ON ITS ATTACHMENTS IN RESPONSE TO STEERING INPUTS. CAR HAS MULTIPLE ISSUES WITH HARD REVS OF THE TRANSMISSION. IT HAS CAUSED ME TO HAVE TO SLOW BECAUSE IT FEELS LIKE THE ENTIRE CAR SHIFTS SO HARD THAT IT IS GONNA BREAK APART. CAR NOW DOES NOT EVEN REV. REVIEWED HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ONLINE ABOUT SAME PROBLEM WITH THE 2006 FORD FUSION AND NOTHING IS BEING DONE. IT IS HORRIBLE! SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE. THERE IS NO RECALL AND EVEN AFTER REPLACING PARTS ON THE TRANSMISSION OR THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION AS HUNDREDS HAVE SAID THEY DID, THE PROBLEM STILL OCCURS SHORTLY THERE AFTER! *TR

It could of been real serious and caused a bad accident maybe even death. I know ford had a recall on a earlier model fusion for shifter cable. If it's the same issue I want reimbursement.

Engine replaced due to flaw in design. I had my 60,000-mile service done and after it was completed, I started having serious issues with my vehicle. Kept getting check engine light cylinder 2 misfire. I took my Fusion back to the dealership, and they advised me that my engine had to be replaced. Apparently when they put my vehicle under pressure during the service it caused the coolant to leak into my engine. I have researched this and found many complaints with the same problem. While operating my 2018 Ford Fusion, the vehicle began experiencing internal coolant loss resulting in engine misfires, rough running, and white exhaust smoke. My vehicle was under warranty at the time (28k miles), and in the same week had white smoke emissions, engine stalling on the interstate and overheating in idle. My vehicle has been throwing codes that the shifter cable is misaligned or misadjusted for a long time now. The dash flashes between neutral and drive while im driving. It says shift system fault all the time. I have to shut the car off and turn it back on to get it to work. I stalled out on a hill the other day and was almost rear ended by someone behind me. The steering wheel has physical play. It feels like it wobbles or sways while im driving and it shakes. I just had new tires put on and balanced so it's not that. The manufacturer website…

Ford issued a recall in 2020 for my car for coolant leaks. My vehicle was under warranty at the time (28k miles), and in the same week had white smoke emissions, engine stalling on the interstate and overheating in idle. The smoke never went away even after extensive, month long repair. The vehicle again had the same issues in august 2020 (76k miles), taken to Ford dealership with $3,000 in out of pocket expense. It is now March 2022 (82k miles) and my vehicle is still showing signs of coolant leak with no help from any Ford dealership.

ON OCTOBER 17, 2018, I DROVE INTO A SHOPPING CENTER PARKING LOT AND PROCEEDED TO PARK IN FRONT OF THE SHOPS. I HAD ENTERED THE PARKING SPACE AT A VERY LOW SPEED AND WAS ALMOST AT A DEAD STOP WHEN MY 2018 FORD FUSION SPORT LURCHED FORWARD WITH SUCH A POWERFUL BURST OF SPEED, I WAS UNABLE TO STOP BEFORE HITTING A WINDOW AND BRICK WALL DIVIDING THE SHOPS. NO FLOOR MAT ISSUE WAS INVOLVED AND I DID NOT STEP ON THE ACCELERATOR THINKING IT WAS THE BRAKE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND INSURANCE NOTIFIED. THE CAR IS STILL AT FORD DEALER FOR …

I FIRST NOTICED HARSH SHIFTING AND DELAYED SHIFTING. THEN I WAS PULLING OFF FROM THE CAR WASH AND MY GEARSHIFT JUMP GEARS FROM NEUTRAL TO REVERSE BUT NOT DRIVE HOWEVER THE CAR DID MOVE FORWARD. I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO WINNER GORD WHERE THEY IMMEDIATELY KNEW WHAT THE ISSUE WAS BECAUSE THEY SAID ITS COMMON. WHEN I GOT MY VEHICLE BACK THE HARSH/DELAYED SHIFTING WAS STILL AN ISSUE. WEEKS LATER THE CAR IN ADDITION TO HARSH AND DELAYED SHIFTING IT NOW SHAKES REALLY BAD.

When I stop to get fuel/gas for my car, I am unable to turn the ignition off because if I do, the car will not restart immediately or at all. There is also a jerking motion immediately after fueling and while driving. There is a "wailing" noise immediately proceeding the car shutting down. The check engine light is on.

The rotary dial gear shifter has intermitantly malfunctioned for 6 months in two ways. 1) When the rotary dial gear shifter is put into park, very often it won't move out of park. Won't go to D, R, or N.In the beginning I was using the key to the car to stick in a slot in the center counsel and that would pop it out of park. This worked for a few months. Since then I need to hit it firmly with a fist to get it to pop out of park. Sometimes I need to turn the car off and wait 10, 20, 30 minutes before hitting it with a fist will get it out. …

The check engine light came on my 2018 Ford Fusion on 2/6/23. On 2/7/23 the car was diagnosed by a Ford dealer as having a coolant intrusion issue. Upon doing research, Ford was aware as early as 2019 that that the 2.0L EcoBoost engines have this common problem. They Issued a Technical Service Bulletin detailing the problem. However, Ford is not recalling these vehicles. They have told me that the only fix for the problem is to remove the engine and replace the long block for $8000. Vehicles like mine with the 2.0L EcoBoost engines have a defe…

I am a retired mechanic with over 13 years of professional experience working at multiple dealerships. I purchased my 2018 Ford Fusion with 2.0L Ecoboost on 6/29/2022 with 73,555 miles. Two days after delivery, within 1 minute of leaving home, the CHECK ENGINE light was illuminated. When I returned home, I used my diagnostic scanner to find code P0300 set.
