Our vehicle is stuck in park. Driver message system says “Do not shift, Contact Mercedes”. We have the Mercedes Sprinter 3500 XD chassis. While our vehicle had this happen in our driveway, internet research to resolve our issue revealed several Sprinters having the same issues while stopped in traffic. This is our second incident involving Mercedes dealer intervention. While we are inconvenienced, one could understand the dangerous impact a stalled rv on a interstate could become. We have not received any solution from Mercedes.

Right after this event the steering wheel was no longer straight when driving straight but angled counterclockwise about 30 degrees. After this happened the warning always comes back and the cruise shuts off after starting the engine and driving a minute or two. The steering wheel has remained at the angled position when driving straight.

Recall history

4 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.

20V358000 · Equipment:Other:Owners/Service/Other Manual

Reported: 2020-06-16 (June 16, 2020)

Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain 2020-2021 Coachmen Galleria and PRISM, Forest River Forester, Battisti and Sunseeker and Dynamax Isata recreational vehicles built on Sprinter chassis with automatic transmission. The operator's manual does not correctly specify certain conditions under which the automatic parking function ("Auto-P") operates.

Consequence: If the driver relies on the Auto-P function as described in the Operator's Manual, vehicle rollaway or movement may occur, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Forest River will notify owners, and Mercedes-Benz dealers will provide the correct description of the Auto-P function for the Operator's Manual, free of charge. The recall began June 25, 2020. Owners may contact Forest River customer service at 1-800-348-7440 or Sprinter service at 1-877-762-8267. The booklet with correct information is also available online through Mercedes-Benz, free of charge.

Reported: 2020-06-19 (June 19, 2020)

Forest River Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain 2020-2021 Coachmen Galleria, Dynamax Isata, and Forest River Battisti Coach, Forester, and Sunseeker motorhomes, built on 2019 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter chassis. The rear part of the front fender liner may contact and chafe the brake hose, possibly resulting in a loss of brake fluid.

Consequence: Loss of brake fluid can extend the distance needed to stop the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Forest River will notify owners, and Mercedes-Benz or Freightliner Sprinter dealers will inspect and replace the brake hoses, as necessary. Additionally, the fender liners will be modified. All services will be performed free of charge. This recall began July 8, 2020. Owners may contact DVUSA customer service at 1-877-762-8267. DVUSA's number for this recall is VS3BRADVER. Forest River's number for this recall is 51-1177.

20V477000 · Seats | Air Bags:Side/Window | Electrical System:Wiring

Reported: 2020-08-14 (August 14, 2020)

Forest River, Inc. (Forest) is recalling certain 2020-2021 Forest River Forester, Sunseeker, Dynamax Isata and Coachmen Galleria and Prism motorhomes built on Sprinter Van chassis equipped with swivel seats. The wiring harnesses for the front seats may have been routed incorrectly and could become jammed and damaged in the swivel seat frames.

Consequence: If the wiring harness is damaged, the side air bag within the seat may deploy inadvertently or not deploy as designed in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of injury to vehicle occupants.

Remedy: Forest River will notify owners, and Sprinter dealers will inspect the wire harness routing for both front seats and will repair the wiring and add clips or cable ties as needed, free of charge. This recall began September 21, 2020. Owners may contact Daimler Vans customer service at 1-877-762-8267. Daimler Vans number for their recall is VS3DREHSIK. Forest's number for this recall is 51-1206.

23V286000 · Fuel System, Gasoline:Delivery:Hoses, Lines/Piping, And Fittings

Reported: 2023-04-21 (April 21, 2023)

Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain 2021-2023 Coachmen Galleria, Beyond, Forester, Sunseeker, and 2021-2024 Nova motorhomes, equipped with certain Cummins Onan QG 2800i, and Onan QG 2800i EVAP generator sets. The fuel hose between the inline fuel filter and the Injection Pump Module (IPM) may have inadequate clamp force, possibly resulting in a gasoline leak.

Consequence: A gas leak in the presence of an ignition source increases the risk of a fire.

Remedy: Cummins Dealers will inspect and replace the fuel hose and clamps, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed May 17, 2023. Owners may contact Cummins at: (800) CUMMINS OR (800) 286-6467. Owners may contact Forest River Customer Service at 1-574-206-7600, or Coachmen Class B customer service at 1-574-825-8602. While performing an under vehicle safety and integrity inspection the following potential Personnel Safety item was noted. The outlet hose from the gas regulator of the on board propane tank to the vehicle distribution manifold is severely stressed and kinked due to the hose short length and restricted bend radius. The physical state of all surfaces of the hose can not be verified in the subject area. The restriction not only poses a flow concern but also accelerated cracking, and thus a fire and/ or explosion concern.

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.

Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.

The message center displayed “Service Advance Trac” and the cruise control stopped working. Right after this event the steering wheel was no longer straight when driving straight but angled counterclockwise about 30 degrees. After this happened the warning always comes back and the cruise shuts off after starting the engine and driving a minute or two. The steering wheel has remained at the angled position when driving straight.

I was on a 2 1/2-week vacation driving on [XXX] near Lacy Washington and was in the middle lane moving over to the slow lane when the vehicle just stalled. I had just made it off the freeway by a few feet, I seriously thought we were going to get rear ended, especially by a truck because a majority were not moving over. They were rocking our RV as they passed us. The RV ended up starting and running good not stalling again, but it was at times difficult to start. We ended up taking it hom…
