TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FREIGHTLINER FOURWINDS MANDALAY (NA). WHILE DRIVING 50-65 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL VIBRATED AND SHOOK. THE WHEEL SLIDES OR MOVES ON THE TIRE RIM AND SHIFTS OUT OF THE CENTER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOUR TIMES. EVERY TIME THE CONTACT DRIVES OVER A BUMP, THE RIM MOVES OR SLIDES ON THE HUB. THE HOLE IN THE RIM IS TOO LARGE FOR THE HUB. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE REPAIRED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 19,800 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,000.
WHEN TRAVELING IN HOT WEATHER AND RUNNING BOTH THE FRONT AND REAR AIR CONDITIONER, THE VEHICLE STALLS. THE STALLING OCCURS WITHIN MINUTES AND UP TO HOURS AFTER BEING RUN BUT ONLY OCCURS WHEN SLOWING THE VEHICLE DOWN (IE: CONSTRUCTION ZONES, STOPPING, TURNING). THE VEHICLE DOES NOT IMMEDIATELY RESTART BUT HAS ALWAYS RESTARTED WITHIN 3 MINUTES. SINCE WE DO NOT LIVE IN AN EXTREMELY HOT AREA THE STALLING USUALLY OCCURS WHILE VACATIONING (ARIZONA, CALIFORNIA, UTAH, FLORIDA, NEBRASKA). TL* TAKATA RECALL. THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FREIGHTLINER SPRINTER. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER(S): 15V354000 (AIR BAGS) AND 16V077000 (AIR BAGS) HOWEVER, THE PARTS TO DO THE REPAIRS WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONSUMER TRIED TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AND WAS ABLE TO DO SO. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE MECHANIC COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AT THIS TIME. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER DETAILS. *JB

WE PURCHASED SEVERAL 2002 FREIGHTLINER SPRINTERS AND HAVE HAD MANY PROBLEMS INCLUDING 2 ENGINE REPLACEMENTS. THESE VEHICLES ARE JUST OUT OF THE 6,00 MILE WARRANTY. THE CHRYSLER CORP ASSISTED ON THE REPAIRS 2 HOWEVER WE NOW HAVE A 3RD VEHICLE THAT HAS 71543 MILES ON IT AND THE CHRYSLER CORP IS REFUSING TO OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE IN THE REPAIR. IF THIS WAS ONLY ON 1 OF THEM I WOULD UNDERSTAND BUT THIS IS A PERSISTENT PROBLEM. THERE WERE ENOUGH PROBLEMS THAT AMERICAN LAFRANCE AMBULANCE CONVERSION STOPPED MAKING THEM INTO AMBULANCES DUE TO T…
I OWN A 2004 FREIGHTLINER SPRINTER WITH THE 2.7 DIESEL MOTOR. I HAVE HAD TWO FAILURES OF THE TURBO RESONATOR THAT IS A CHEAP PLASTIC PART THAT WILL FAIL REPEATEDLY CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO GO INTO "LIMP" MODE WITH LOSS OF POWER THAT IS VERY DANGEROUS. IT IS WELL KNOWN THAT MANY FAILURES OF THIS PART ARE COMMON AND THE MERCEDES FACTORY WILL DO NOTHING TO CORRECT IT. *TR

I HAVE HAD FOUR SEPARATE OCCASIONS WHEN THE EGR VALVE ON MY SPRINTER HAS LEAKED OIL ALL OVER THE MOTOR AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE COST FOR THIS REPAIR IS NOW OVER $500.00 EACH OCCURRENCE. THE AVERAGE MILEAGE FOR THIS FAILURE IS 25,000 MILES. NOT RIGHT FOR A MERCEDES BENZ PRODUCT THAT DOESN'T HAVE THIS PROBLEM IN EUROPE. *JB
THE PARKING BRAKE WORE OUT WHICH CAUSED THE CALIPERS AND CABLE TO FREEZE. PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT THE PARKING BRAKES WERE HAVING A LOT OF FAILURES. MANUFACTURER AND DEALERSHIP WERE NOT PROVIDING ANY ASSISTANCE ON THIS ISSUE. *AK

Emerging complaint spikes
Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.
This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.
No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.
