I CAN FEEL A "POPPING" IN MY HANDS THROUGH THE STEERING WHEEL WHEN TURNING THE WHEEL ONE OR TWO DEGREES LEFT OR RIGHT. THIS HAPPENS WHEN STANDING AT A LIGHT (FOOT ON BRAKE), IN PARK, MOVING LESS THAN 10MPH, AND EVEN WITH THE CAR OFF. THE POPPING CAN ALSO BE FELT BELOW THE STALKS ON THE STEERING COLUMN. THERE IS ALSO A POPPING SOUND OR "CLICK" THAT IS MOST EASILY HEARD WHEN THE CAR IS OFF. IT FEELS LIKE THE STEERING WHEEL IS "CATCHING SOMETHING" IN THE FIRST 1 OR TWO DEGREES OF MOVEMENT BEFORE THE WHEELS TURN. THE PROBLEM STARTED AFTER ABOUT 4,4…

AT AROUND 8:45 A.M. ON JAN. 19, 2020, I LEFT MY HOUSE, DROVE TO THE ENTRANCE OF THE SUBDIVISION, AND TURNED LEFT ONTO THE CITY STREET. BECAUSE OF THE BAD WEATHER IN EARLIER HOURS, I KNEW THAT THE ROAD WAS RATHER ICY. SO I WAS EXTRA CAUTIOUS AND ESTIMATE MY SPEED WAS AROUND 25 MPH (POSTED SPEED LIMIT IS 40 MPH). JUST ABOUT 0.1 MILE FROM ENTERING THE CITY STREET, I SAW THAT THE STREET LIGHT ABOUT 100 YARDS AHEAD OF ME WAS RED. WHEN I HAD MY FIRST MAINTENANCE, I TOLD THE DEALER ABOUT IT AND THEY TEMPORALLY FIXED IT BY SHAVING THE ROTORS. IT COMES WITH BREMO CALIPERS BUT NOT BREMO PADS, ROTORS, ETC. I'VE SPOKEN WITH A LOT OF PEOPLE OVER SOCIAL MEDIA AND A LOT OF PEOPLE HAVE THIS SAME ISSUE AND THE ONLY THING THAT SEEMS TO BEING DONE IS SHAVING AND REPLACING THE ROTORS/PADS WITH THE SAME ONES THAT HAVE THE ISSUE. EVEN WITH HANDS ON THE STEERING WHEEL WHEN ON THE HIGHWAY THE CAR WARNS YOU TO PUT YOU HANDS ON THE WHEEL. WHEN ACCELERATING USING THE STEERING WHEEL CRUISE CONTROLS THE CAR ACCELERATES RAPIDLY GOING WAY FASTER THAN ONE WOULD WISH. UNLIKE MOST CARS, THE SWITCH ON THE STEERING WHEEL DOES NOT LOCK IN A SPEED WHEN YOU RELEASE IT WHEN SPEEDOMETER READS THE DESIRED SPEED. Since it was new, my 2019 Genesis G70 Twin Turbo with AWD has had occasional long hesitation (it happens every couple of days) when I step on the gas, lasting anywhere from 3 to 10 seconds. The dashboard speedometer is configured in 10 MPH increments from 0 up to 40 then jumps to 20 MPH increments after that. Using the dashboard speedometer, the driver gets a different speed when transitioning from 40 to 60 and then back down to 40. The digital heads-up-display gives a consistent change through this speed range. Other speedometers on other models from this manufacturer do not have this dropout around 50 MPH. Changing the 0 to 40 range on the dial would slightly fix this. Since 50 MPH is a very common speed, I think this may eventu…

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Since it was new, my 2019 Genesis G70 Twin Turbo with AWD has had occasional long hesitation (it happens every couple of days) when I step on the gas, lasting anywhere from 3 to 10 seconds. It happens from a stop, and also at times when the car is going 5-10 mph. The motor has been fully warmed up when this happens. When you step on the gas, the motor is still running but there is no response, no increase in engine rpm, then after a hesitation of up to 10 seconds, it kicks in with a sudden surge of speed. No warning lights come on. Needless to …

When driving the vehicle it feels as though as it stalls due to choking all or some of the fuel getting to the engine. This is most prone when accelerating fast. It feels as though the fuel is shut off or severely diminished as the vehicle will accelerate, but at a fraction (crawl) of the normal output available and accomplished in the past.

I had the known reported issue TSB 25-BE-004G repaired and even after repair there is a burning wire smell that the dealer claims they can’t replicate. We had the same issue with Genesis Plano initially and after driving the vehicle out of state we were stranded and took it to Genesis of Peoria where the issue was diagnosed. We are encountering the issue again and it is a fire risk hazard.
